Like some other reviewers I'll start with the positive. We booked this particular guest house for its location, it was spot on for that as we were attending a wedding in Grays court. We also needed to keep within a budget as we needed 4 rooms all ensuite and 3 of those needed to be twin rooms. Again that was... More

Well lets start with the positives. Very Friendly staff, good breakfast, Well situated 2 min walk into York centre . Rooms clean. WiFI,Tea/coffee facilities. En suite clean & adequate. Tv in room a little small to view from bed. Sadly have to say hotel is very tired looking and dated has an awful musty smell, Decor is old & poor... More

Had midweek break here. We have stayed here many times over the past couple of decades. It is a guest-house B&B rather than a hotel but for price, location and breakfast and free parking it is hard to beat. There are some negative reviews online, but bear in mind it is an old building in a conservation area, so not... More

2 work colleagues on a training course, female age 40+. Definitely recommend this b&b. Lovely warm rooms . Spotlessly clean. Comfy beds and fluffy towels. Decent size bathroom. Lovely touch with toiletries . Breakfast was delicious. Yes it's an old building and does have a few creaking floorboards but not a problem. It's not modern but very comfortable. 2 minute... More

We stayed at the Cavalier for a couple of days on a visit to York. Hazel the manager was a wonderful host and looked after us during our stay. The hotel was clean and warm and the breakfast was excellent. I'd recommend the eggs Royale. We visited the Railway Museum which was well worth a visit and is free. The... More

I booked 2 nights after reading the good reviews for this property. Shortly after I checked-in, I asked to cancel the rest of my booking and went to another hotel instead. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, peaceful, and modern, this is NOT the hotel you want to stay in. I was given Room 8 on the 2nd floor, which... More

Stayed here for 2 nights for the Ebor festival, we had a triple room - No 2 - at the front of the hotel but we weren't bothered by noise from outside at all. Hosts were very helpful, no problems when we were running late arriving due to appalling traffic. Breakfast was lovely & quick to arrive even though the... More
