Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful Christmas tree as you enter and very friendly welcoming reception. We stayed in the 4 bed family room number 42. It was warm clean and comfortable, the bathroom was huge. We had a long awaited catch up which we have been doing for 20 yrs, it was just what we needed. The breakfast was delicous with a very good range of food. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Thankyou we shall certainly be returning.

This is our second time staying at this hotel and upon arrival, first impressions were that it is looking a bit tired and needs a freshen up and the housekeeping needs to be improved upon. Quite a few marks around the room, smears on glass and mirrors and cobwebs. Bed also not the comfortiest if honest and pillows lacked any structure. Saying all of this, the staff are really amazing and the service was impeccable throughout as per first visit. The location of the property is also superb, with just a 2 minute walk to the city centre, as well as offering free parking which is the cherry on the cake, as most hotels in the area charge. I will be back, and stay again when nextup in the area because the good things outweigh the bad, but hopefully a freshen up is imminent in the not to distant future. Thank you

A lovely hotel. Staff all very helpful and friendly The location is ideal as near enough the centre to pop back if neexs be to drop shopping off or to have a chill before you head out again. The breakfast was amaxing and the staff are like a well oiled machine serving the residents even when very busy. The room was lovely-beautiful decoration and the bed super comfy. We didn't wake up until 8.45 on our first morning and that is unheard of for us. The bed was lovely and big too so lots of room for us to stretch out amd not bump into each other We would definately stay here again. Thank you

From calling the hotel when on route about the parking to checking out, this hotel experience has out done any hotel I have EVER stayed in (FACT). My husband and I stayed here for two nights (Oct 29) to visit the splendor of York and we were not disappointed. Having on-site parking also is a great bonus, especially when you are only five minutes walk from all the action of York. Arriving through the arch way gates to car park, super easy and plenty of spaces although may get tricky if hotel is fully booked. Checking in, we were greeted by a lovely lady (apologies forgot her name) who explained everything we needed to know about the rooms, breakfast times and also where around York is great to visit. She was soooo friendly and made us feel so welcome the moment we said "Hi". We booked a small double and I was a little apprehensive at first as a tall man, how much space we would have but I clearly had no need to worry. The massive bed and newly decorated room we had (back of hotel) was fantastic. If this is a "small double", then all other bedrooms must be HUGE. It was warm, clean with plenty of space, we had all the mod cons and there was so much tea, coffee and milk and biscuits, not like the major hotels that give you a couple of items. The room was so quiet and cozy, we were really made up!! Breakfast was simply the best, so much to choose from continental wise with great products, (the fresh ham was super), we had full English on top (very greedy) and it far surpassed any top named 5 star hotel I have been in. The staff, special mention to Gemma (J) and Tony and many others worked so hard and nothing was too much trouble. It had such a family feel, like you were at home with family kind of vibe that we truly felt so relaxed and looked after, it really was a pleasure to go and have breakfast for those two nights. This place has something very magical about it and there is no doubt that the hard working staff are a huge part of this. Please do not hesitate to book this place, you will be greeted with smiles, lovely room, and incredible breakfast by caring, friendly staff. We will be back for a second time in December and cant wait. Thank you all for a special stay!

This hotel is amazing. The staff there are all wonderful, all so pleasant and helpful. The hotel has its own private car park which we were able to park in on arrival, even though we were very early. Our room was spotlessly clean and so quiet. Super king-size bed very comfortable. The breakfast is the best we have ever had. Again the staff were amazing. Can't wait to return. Thank you Minster Hotel.

We have just got back from a Wonderful last minute stay in York and our Fabulous Hotel. The room, staff, food, attractions was all amazing! The hotel room was impeccable and so affordable. Breakfast for £9, well you couldn't fault it, food variety was great, from Porridge, to fruit, full English, no matter what you wanted they had it! Staff were very polite and helpful, we will definitely come back as we would have loved to have seen more.
