Its prime location near the city center and key attractions, coupled with private parking, makes it a hit among visitors. The hotel's staff receives accolades for their attentive and welcoming service, enhancing the hotel's comfortable and tranquil atmosphere. I got the hotel half price on the internet for two nights with breakfast. I emailed the hotel in and advance informing them it was my wedding anniversary - I requested a room with a bath and asked about flowers for the room.

I was emailed back the same day informing me they would ensure we were out in a room with a bath and offered a few choices for flowers in the room. I ordered a large bouquet of flowers through the hotel.

We were told check in was from three however arrived early as we wanted to have a walk around the city before checking in. We parked in the car park (£3 a night) and was told our room was ready early.

The room was lovely, a spacious room with four poster bed, two arm chairs, a couch and dressing table - as requested there was a bath.

The room was clean, well maintained and well decorated. The flowers were in the room on arrival and were lovely.

Breakfast each morning is fantastic and cooked to order along with a good selection of continental style meats, cheeses and pastries.

The hotel is located within walking distance of everything in the city and is right next to the cathedral.

The only negative I have to point out is that payment for the flowers was taken on checking in - this ruined the surprise a little bit and I wild have preferred to either pay in advance or upon checkout.

Overall a fantastic hotel experience and amazing value.

Really lovely 3 night stay at Minster Hotel over New Year , Staff at Hotel excellent room lovely had the 4 bedded room which was very roomy with modern bathroom. Breakfast as usual very filling sets one up for day of exploring , with the hotels location within 1/2 mile of York Minster. 2nd time at Hotel excellent once again highly recommended. Only negative if you have walking difficulties some rooms require several flights of stair to negotiate , that aside will come back again but will request lower floor room .

We have stayed at the Minster Hotel on numerous occasions but this was our first trip away from home since the pandemic began and we were obviously apprehensive but the Minster Hotel did a fabulous job of making us feel safe and welcome even in these strange circumstances. We always appreciate the free parking and found there was plenty of space when we arrived. All keys and hotel information, including new guidelines around COVID 19, came in a pre arranged envelope and we checked in from our room so as the limit gathering in the reception area. We spoke to a lovely lady on the phone who answered all our questions and booked us in for our breakfast slot so as to minimise traffic in the dining room (You could also choose to have breakfast delivered to your room if preferred). We were told the room would not be cleaned by staff unless we specifically wanted them to and as were were only staying for two nights, this was fine with us. There was plenty of hand sanitiser dotted around the hotel and a one way system was in place in various places. Breakfast was well organised and parties were distanced away from each other. The food was delicious, the staff were pleasant and happy to help, all wearing protective visors while working. There is no breakfast buffet now for health reasons but the staff were only happy to retrieve anything you needed. Only a 10 minute walk into York from the Minster Hotel and you can always take the route through the nearby Museum Gardens to avoid the narrow streets if you wish. Overall we had a lovely stay, thank you Minster Hotel, keep up the hard work and hopefully we shall see you soon!

This is a good base to discover York from. Easy walking distance to all major attractions in the city. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and furnished. The hotel is well decorated to match the age of the building. We were met with the courtesy and service of days gone by, and nothing was too much trouble . Arriving early and requesting a room change we were booked in without delay. The breakfast buffet table was varied and fresh and the cooked breakfast speedily delivered and nice and hot. I will be back. Secure parking was an added bonus. Four star service at three star prices

We stayed for 3 nights in room 15, a huge room on the ground floor, with twin beds pushed together, a large ensuite with excellent shower (no bath). Everything was clean and comfortable. This room seemed to be quite newly renovated. Yes, OK, the walls are not soundproofed and we could hear our neighbours TV, so therefore they could hear ours! The staff are amazing here, so friendly and chatty. Breakfast was brilliant, a beautiful room, attentive staff, substantial cold buffet and wide ranging menu of hot options, cooked freshly to order. We had a late night beverage too, in the cosy bar area, great prices!! Fantastic location and some lovely bars and restaurants very close by. We used our Taste card (cheapest main meal free) in an Indian restaurant just a few metres away. I would recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here for only one night, on our way back from Whitby.

Parked the car in their car park (small charge) and checked in (they even let us check in early). Check in was quick and easy. We were shown to our room by Stewart who was very polite, helpful and humorous.

The room was a good size, very clean and had a huge and comfortable bed. Wifi worked well and TV was of better sound quality than most hotels we have stayed in. The breakfast was plentiful and of high quality.

It took about a 10 minute leisurely walk to the cathedral and the town centre, where there are many good pubs and restaurants.

Our thanks go to the lovely reception staff (Michelle and Wendy) and to Stewart, who all always had a smile.

Although check out was 11 am, they extended this to 12 pm and said we could leave the car there until 1 pm.

We enjoyed our brief stay here and would definitely stay again should we visit York. We would highly reccommend the Minster Hotel to friends and family.

A lovely, clean, well situated hotel.
First things first, it has to be said that the staff here are some of the friendliest, helpful and polite we have come across. Very nice people and an asset to The Minster.
Secondly the rooms we had ( 2 rooms ) in our party were excellent, well fitted and spacious ( rooms 5 and 6 ). Great standard of cleanliness and nice and quiet also.
Thirdly the brekkies were delicious. As much of a choice as you can think of is served up, from fruit to toasts, full English to cold meats and cheeses ( continental style )
Fourthly the location is excellent with a 5 minute walk to the city and Minster.
Fifthly ( not sure if that is a word ha ha ) and the most importantly, it has a bar ! Very useful when you are meeting up with your fellow travellers.
Sixthly......an on site car park is so handy and at only £5 per night is great value.
A great stay was had here, we would definitely go back.
Thanks to all of the staff particularly Stewart and the lovely receptionist I think was called Michelle.

Stayed here for two nights and first of all York is great to visit in autumn being a historic place and haunted as they say!
This hotel was in such a great location literally 5-10 min walk to the minster and all the cool streets with pubs etc.
The staff were really helpful , nice and friendly welcoming and well mannered
. Rooms were quiet considering we were on road side couldn’t hear nothing.
Great stay! Would love to know how to get the biscuits they leave out for you with your tea and coffee 😁

We stayed here for 2nts and made a great choice. The location is great just 5 minutes to the River and under 10 minutes to York Minster (which you can see as soon as you leave the hotel).
Breakfast was fab, plenty of choice all cooked to order. The breakfast staff are all great and are maintaining social distancing wearing face coverings.
We were in room 22 in an annex to the main hotel. At the moment they aren’t cleaning rooms unless you ask. Towels and tea \ coffee are replenished when asked also.
I would definitely recommend and would stay here again. The only reason for 4 stars is the parking. It looked like several cars had parked haphazardly and were blocking others in due to lack of spaces. We did manage to squeeze into a space so can’t complain.

I was apprehensive about venturing away from home, but I needn't have worried. The owners had clearly put a lot of thought into keeping staff and customers safe. The staff were all very friendly and really went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. The location of the hotel was ideal for exploring York and though central the room itself was quiet during the night. It was very handy to be able to park in the hotel's own car park. I don't usually sleep well away from home but got 2 good nights sleep here. Thank you Minster Hotel staff for all your efforts. Hope to come and stay again soon. Special thanks to Ioannis for his help (hope the spelling is correct)

There is quite a bit of parking space I’d say for 20 plus cars at least. It’s free if you book direct with the hotel but £5 per day if booked thru and agent. If you contact Minster directly I’m sure they could advise you about room choices.
