Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Friendly staff. Clean but basic room. Had a fire in the Weatherspoons while we were there and all evacuated but not fault of Travelodge. Hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the town centre with all the usual high street shops.

We booked this as a weekend getaway. We got 2 nights for a reasonable cost. When we arrived, we noticed it was next door to a pub and wondered what the noise levels would be like. We had absolutely nothing to fear, and despite our room being on the side of the pub, we couldn’t hear a thing. Two excellent nights sleep, while the location was perfect for all the local attractions and only a 20 minute walk to the train station. On the day we checked out, the lovely Nikki was able to store our bags for us to enjoy the morning in York. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back!

Its a good place to stay if you want to be close to the city centre and some of the tourist attractions. A couple of overnight parking places are close by and cost about £19 for 24 hours(one of which is reasonably secure - near the Barbican). Beds are comfy and the rooms are clean.

Room was too cold and wouldn’t let me keep it on the maximum heat range. Then it even started decreasing during the night. The toilet was stained and needed a good bleach. I feel the cold really bad so that why I have the score so low.

Great value for money and good location. The room was pretty basic but had everything required with comfortable beds and clean bathroom (good shower). Reception staff were very helpful at check-in and when leaving.

Lovely stay in one of the Standard Plus rooms on the top floor. The hotel has recently had a makeover so the room felt fresh and new. A few added extras like on a quiet floor, coffee machine and a couple of chocolate bars probably not worth the extra money but it was all they had left when we booked. Our room did overlook the courtyard but as it was cold we didn’t have the windows open so we didn’t hear any noise, I can imagine in the summer this would be different. All in all a nice night in York.

Staff here were wonderful- really accommodating when I asked if we could swap our room. The manager helped me with my luggage as I was leaving. The rooms were clean and quiet. Excellent value for money in the city centre. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms were perfect temperature.
