Pros: friendly staff & good breakfast. Cons: room was disgusting with blood stains on the mattress protector & net curtain. Whoever changed the sheets & made the bed must of seen the blood stains but just covered it with a clean sheet ! Was offered another room which wasn't much better. With there clean promise it left us discusted & spoilt our weekend. We have used another of there hotels on a regular basis which was spotless, so was surprised & disappointed.

Hotel's Favourite
A couple of days in York, the friendly city, and the hotel is part of that. Helpful and friendly receptionist and so was everyone else especially the restaurant manager who even lent us a small teapot for the room as we don't like teabags in the cup. Anyway the room was comfortable but the shower room is minute in size. Took the standard room for a walk in shower. 4th floor, good view. Booked for breakfast and buffet style and freshly cooked, delicious! The hotel is in nice surrounding grounds with plenty of car parking space. We normally stay at the Premier inn but although this was slightly more expensive we found it a nice change.

Didn't like being argued with by the receptionist when checking in, I'd originally booked two rooms and rang the hotel two weeks before to cancel one, not sure whether she was new or not, then to be told I'll get my manager with an attitude, he was lovely by the way, sorry can't remember his name (began with an F) who admitted it was possibly his fault, from a hotel staff member to another he was delightful. The room when we arrived, the bed wasn't made or the sofabed, went down to reception to be greeted with the lady that argued with me, when telling her the room wasn't set she instantly told me she's been in touch with HSK within seconds of speaking to her and not picked up a phone. Evening meal was ok, not everything on menu available when asked what a certain dish was like was told by what seemed like a bored server "dunno never had it"All F&b staff seemed miserable. Went back to room, single duvet was placed in both my double duvet cover and the kids bed cover. No extra towels brought to room either knowing we had kids with us. When asked for towels, hand towels left in room instead of bath towels.Breakfast was nice, some staff lovely. Guy who fixed coffee machine was ace, had a giggle with him. Came back for a drink second night stay, floaters in my wine to be told it's the reflection. It wasn't, eventually changed it! The lovely chap who checked us out was friendly and chatty. Can't say we'll stay again.

I was so impressed with the service provided by General Manager Randell and his team. Very Friendly, great customer service skills and really cares for the guests. He came up to us and asked if we had any issues or any suggestions we have. I told him that we ordered 2 glasses of water over night and they charged us, he said he will take the charges off. I really want to thank him.

The room was fine, bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean (very small but it was just me so I wasn’t bothered). The room was on dayuse, but I was awoken to hear staff knocking on the doors in the corridor, then when someone answered they’d say: “oh sorry, we thought you’d checked out” then they’d move to the next door. They knocked on my door so I challenged them (they looked like porters) - I told them it was on dayuse hence why I was there in the afternoon. He just said: “we know but our system said you’d checked out”. For dayuse, this is the equivalent of being knocked on during the night. I wasn’t amused. I found this odd because they’d been trying a few doors, so I know they were just pretending it had been on their system. If you’re using rooms for dayuse, you really need to not disturb people until the checkout time has passed.

We've stayed here twice in the last 6 months for events, and are booked to stay again in October 2024. Hotel is brilliant, staff are friendly - Joseph checked us in (really helpful). Bathroom could be bigger but may just be the room we were in. Tip for Coeliacs - the restaurant menu online isn't good, whereas the menu at the hotel gives way more Gluten Free options. Hotel is 30 minute walk to the city wall and is 10 minutes walk to the Knavesmire.

The hotel was satisfactory. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional service provided by the staff. Despite the inconvenience of the elevator being temporarily unavailable, they promptly arranged a secure room on the ground floor for us to safely store our stroller. Furthermore, they graciously offered to assist us with our luggage. Special commendations to Chirag and Saikat for their remarkable hospitality and accommodation. The rest of the team were also incredibly welcoming and hospitable. My recommendation for this hotel is largely due to the staff's dedication and eagerness to assist.

Stayed the one night as an IHG rewards night in a king bed room. When we arrived the free parking was easy, lots of space however we left the hotel at @ 4pm to go into York and on our return @10:30pm the car park was very crowded and we got the last spot. Staff were friendly but the hotel is showing signs of wear, our room was ok, great bed but the bathroom was tiny, had a walk in shower and refillable toiletries. We had a drink in the bar but did not eat at the hotel due to short visit, probably would not stay again but it was acceptable for our one night.

Great hotel. Friendly welcoming staff. Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. Fabulously comfy bed. We slept so well. Plenty of free car parking which was a bonus. Bathroom is on the small side, but that wouldn’t stop me staying here again. Plenty of choice at the buffet breakfast, including gluten free options. All tasted great. The hotel is situated outside of York centre, however there is a bus stop directly across the road. The bussed ran on time and were reasonably priced.. We caught the bus into York centre each day. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay in York.

Room was clean and comfortable plenty of toiletries and towels. Nice big shower good choice of pillows. There was an IT glitch which meant we were put in a room where someone was already staying but on reporting this they were really helpful and apologetic gave us a new room with complementary drinks from the bar. We took our dog and were told we could take her in the lounge most hotels you have to ask for this to be set up when you go for breakfast but there were tables already set up when we went down making us and our dog feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent self service but a lot fresher than a lot of hotels and was hot. Plenty of fresh - rather than tinned fruit cereals and breads. The staff were very friendly and helpful and although the bar closed at 11 they were happy to get drinks for residents after this time. Location is great 10 minutes taxi into York and plenty of buses just outside. Easy walk down to the race course for dog walking. Would definitely stay again.
