We’ve just had a wonderful one-night stay at Sandburn Hall! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean and so peaceful and calm. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. We had to change our booking last minute because my father was ill and they did all that they could to move the booking at no extra cost, we really did appreciate it. The rooms are beautiful, stylish, really comfortable and clean and manage to combine luxury with a warm, home-from-home feel. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast too at the adjoining Tykes restaurant - excellent value for money with a vast array of things to choose from. We loved drinking coffee by the fire as well after our three-course evening meal with one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time! The building and atmosphere is lovely. We actually live locally to the hotel and often come and enjoy coffee in the lovely lounge area of the hotel. We have always found the staff warm, helpful and very friendly and so it was a real treat to be able to stay for my mum’s birthday. We highly recommend it and would love to stay again!

I had the pleasure to stay at this beautiful hotel for a couple of days. The place is immaculate, excellent food and incredibly friendly staff. Very competitively priced with a fine selection of food and drinks. Carl and his colleagues on the front desk are a credit to the place. Highly recommended.

Stay was 10/2/24 for wedding of my nephew.all went well great space staff organised food good, but the acoustics in the actual space where food was served and speeches made hearing our fellow guests and serving staff was intolerable It was not possible to engage in conversation with anyone on your table apart from the person on either side of you , people across the table could have been on the moon.

Not a standard golf resort and not somewhere that really only welcomes golfers. Also a great place for a wedding and wedding reception. I was there for just a few days away but did not want to stay in York and was pleased that I had chosen here when I arrived. It is situated to the east of York and so well positioned for visiting there and also not too far from the coast with a National Trust premises also not too far away. They do cater for families but that is not a main reason for their existence so although one day I had several (unruly) children running about at a wedding they were not staying overnight, so no problem. The food is reasonable and plentiful and although not top-class type food it was certainly what I needed for Breakfast and Dinner (going out and about during the day), but you could have lunch in the golf clubhouse which I did the day I arrived. I did not get to see everything in the area so will certainly return if I go back for more visits!

Just had my first stay here and it was superb. Even though I live in York it is nice to get away! Would highly recommend, great value for money. Food was lovely, I had the steak and my husband had the burger. And we had a great breakfast with lots to choose from. We sat in the hotel reception by the fire on the evening which was lovely and cozy for winter. I really liked the little gift shop where I bought a wooden hedgehog from the Dcuk range. Great walks out here and handy for York and the coast.

A lovely hotel and I was surprised at how clean it was - the room spotless although I since learned its fairly new. Downsides were that it apparently was not possible to request a 'quiet' room - by that I mean not directly over the bar etc, that said, it seemed very quiet and there was no issues with noise. The Tykes restaurant really lets things down as there just isn't enough variety. Could not even order fries as they were not on offer and only thick cut chips were offered which in reality turned out to be large potato wedges - which I hate. If there was more variety on the menu that would be much better otherwise you're best booking to eat out - which would have been a faff for one night in winter. Breakfast was okay but was self serve buffet but on the whole plenty on offer. Good points included the location - super easy to get to and close to castle Howard and York monks cross park and ride. Plenty of parking and a very spacious room with super modern bathroom and comfy beds. There was a nice comfy sofa in the room. Was clean and modern and had a good feel to it. Would be great if they could offer a more varied menu at the restaurant though.

We only booked to stay at The Sandburn a couple of days before we stayed, I just needed to ‘get away from it all’ …. and it was the perfect tonic and just what we both needed. We originally stayed 12 months ago in the York Suite but just for 1 night and loved it, so when the opportunity arose, we went for it. The Alderney Suite is beautiful and the photos on the website just don’t do it justice. All the staff are so lovely and nothing is too much trouble and we felt ‘at home’ right away. We loved it. It did us the world of good. We’ll be back !

Stayed for one night. Beautiful hotel and the room was the best room we’ve stayed at in the UK. Bathroom was gorgeous and loved all the little extras. Needed a relaxing break and that’s exactly what it was. Restaurant was beautiful and the food was tasty, well presented and good value. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.

I’ve stayed in a number of Hotels for both personal and working engagements. All of the Hotels have had high start ratings and none of which have been Holiday Inn, Premier Inn or Travel Lodge etc. This Hotel has simply blown me away with its attention to detail! On arrival the reception team were very polite and friendly. We were shown to our room which clearly had been given some thought. Everything about the room was tasteful and will designed. There was a dressing area separate to the room, different mood lighting, comfortable chairs. The bathroom had a tap that could be simply pushed out of the way of the sink. Very nice toiletries. Automatic lighting in the bathroom. A mini fridge with fresh milk (no UHT). Mini bar offering of local produce at a very reasonable price. The bar area was very comfortable and again had a nice offering at reasonable prices. Breakfast was simply wonderful! I have a number of food allergies and am always quite reserved about eating out. To Cezer the Chief this was not a problem. Our breakfast order was taken and cooked fresh. Rest assured for anyone with a food allergy Cezer really knows profession! Huge ‘Thank you’ to Cezer for providing me with a safe breakfast option.
