Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful guest house wish we had found in recent visits. Lovely and clean, great comfortable bed and spotless towels. Shower pressure wonderful not huge but neither are we. Water, tea coffee and hot chocolate supplied with biscuits and chocolate bar. Ideal walking distance from York centre. Super safe roomy car park to rear.

Great little B&B A little cut through through the back street takes you to York train station in 5mins. Clean facilities with a decent shower, refreshments & and carpark behind. Friendly couple would stay again. Small Children’s play area also to the rear

A lovely place to stay in York. Handy to all the tourist attractions and shops. Bus stop right at the door, but you can easily walk to where you will want to see. There is a hop on off bus, and it's stop is only a short walk away. The train station is only 5 minutes walk via a short cut. Plenty of car parking in a yard out the back which is locked at night. The large yard also has seats and an undercover area, and a ply area for kids. The room was spotless, and had everything you need. The bed was big and comfortable with nice clean linen. Radiator in main area and bathroom, which has plenty of nice fluffy clean towels. Tv and wifi all worked well. Home cooked breakfast available. A lounge area, games and DVDs and books for you to use. The owner was very nice and helpful, with lots of information about the area. Would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely b&b. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and it is in a great location, right near the train station and with plenty of parking out back if you travelled by car. The owner was lovely and very helpful with our map and directions . I would definitely use again

We were really looking forward to our stay at The Apple House, but it very much disappointed us. Room was pokey, bath/shower under a staircase and awkward to use. Small room right next to reception, small double bed, very uncomfortable. Frequent trains passing by at back of house. Danielle was very friendly on arrival and the following morning. Breakfast, there was a lovely selection of cereals, fruit etc but we ordered a cooked English. The breakfast disappointed, bacon was chewy/overcooked as was the fried egg and the sausage was tough. We were brought a fresh cup of coffee but were not offered a refill. If I were to be really nitpicking it was Lurpack “butter” which we all know isn’t real butter, yuk. Have eaten better at far cheaper B&Bs We shall not be returning.

Lovely little guesthouse just outside the main city of York, probably a 10-15 minute walk if you’re fit! Our room was on the second floor (be aware the stairs are quite steep!). Very clean, and very comfortable bed. You have to preorder your breakfast but that’s fine. Plenty of choice of fruit, yoghurts, cereals, and juices. We opted for the Big Apple which is the cooked breakfast; sausage, bacon, eggs of your choice, tomato, mushrooms, and baked beans. Very filling. Danielle is very helpful and friendly. Cannot fault this establishment

We have stayed at the Apple house numerous times over the years. The owner Danielle is lovely and always makes us feel welcome. The room we like to stay in is on the ground floor and meets my mobility needs. The breakfast is requested the day before, we think this works well. At breakfast there is a wide variety of fresh fruit, yogurt and cereal, to serve yourself, as the breakfast is booked the day before you don’t have to wait long this doesn’t disappoint and is delicious. The only comment I would make is the bathroom in our room could do with an update.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Apple House. Room was clean and had everything you needed including tea/coffee that was replenished daily. The hosts were lovely, friendly and attentive. Cooked breakfast is pre - ordered which we liked and was lovely with more than adequate choice of cereals. yogurts, fresh fruit, juice etc. Ideally located only 10 - 15 minute from the centre of York. Large private car park which is an added bonus. Lovely stay, would recommend.
