We loved our stay at the Guy Fawkes and would definitely stay there again. This historic pub in the heart of York was an excellent find. The staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are decorated with character and the pub has a great atmosphere. The tasty breakfasts set us up for the day.

Stayed for just the 1 night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As soon as you walk into the Inn you are immersed in the atmosphere of medieval York with candlelight and dark wood nooks and crannies. Our room (12) was in the rear courtyard and was very comfy with an extremely large bathroom. The bar serves a great selection of...

Stayed with my partner on Wednesday 27 August this year. Having eaten and had drinks here a few times before we had never stayed so this was our first stay. We stayed in room 9 in the house at the back and although you go through the beer garden I must say it was not as noisy as other reviewers...

We stayed at the Guy Fawkes Inn York for 2 night this is a hotel I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in York it is central to everything with a breathtaking view of York Minster. The hotel itself is very atmospheric old gas lights and candles in the bar and restaurant area giving it a very old and...

Visited York this week for the first time and chose the Guy Fawkes Inn due to its central location. The hotel faces the Minster and has a pub and restaurant on the ground floor. The building is a lovely period property, steeped in history and kept in very good condition. We stayed in a four poster room that overlooked the...

We stayed here in December 2013 and it was a gorgeous old hotel. Very quiet and amazing breakfast the next morning. Perfect location for exploring York. We stayed in the old cottage at the back which is where Guy Fawkes is supposed to have been born. It's all old stone and is very eerie.

Found this hotel very difficult to locate but what a find it was! Perfectly located next to York Minster, this hotel oozes old England with gas lamps and squeaky floor boards. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Guy Fawkes Inn stands next to York Minster and was the birthplace of the notorious plotter, Guy Fawkes. The Inn offers 4-star rooms with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and home-cooked, AA Rosette food. Decorate with antique furniture and Italian fabrics, the rooms feature handmade beds, tea/coffee making facilities and bathrooms with complimentary toiletries from H2K of Harrogate. Many rooms have views of York Minster, the city or the courtyard towards the rear of the Inn where Guy Fawkes was born. The Guy Fawkes Inn retains many original features including the timber staircase, gas lighting and real log fires. Dine by candlelight in the Inn's restaurant, which serves traditional pub-food using locally sourced ingredients. The bar stocks a wide range of real ales and a broad selection of wines. The world famous Ghost Walk leaves every night just around the corner. York Theatre Royal and the National Railway Museum are both just a 5-minute walk away. ... more   less
