Quiet B&B location, yet very close to city walls easy walking access to Bootham Bar / Monk Bar. Just a short walk to York Minster. Room 4 was spotless, freshly decorated, warm, cosy and comfortable. We had everything we needed including bathrobes and extra bedding if needed. Assorted breakfast cereals, yogurt and juices along with a full English cooked breakfast... More

The temperatures outside were sub-zero but it was warm and cosy at the Hazelwood. We arrived early so were able to get a parking space but be aware that you may be disappointed if you arrive late. Very high standard of decorative finish throughout the guest house and we can recommend.

Returning for our eighth year for Christmas Shopping. Still as good as ever, lovely room, spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious. Sharon is the jewel in the crown of the Hazelwood-she is so warm and friendly. See you next year. Many thanks.

The staff were quite cold, and hard to find when I needed some assistance. No one about the place. Feels empty and a bit gloomy. Corners cut with decor, lack of attention to cleanliness. It does not feel like they want to run a b&b, just have to. Would not recommend.

While we do not like to receive negative reviews we do welcome the feedback which can give us insights into what we are doing wrong and allow us to make appropriate adjustments. In this case however all we can establish is that you had an unhappy experience which prompted the type of comments you make and hence is not of... More

We stayed at the Hazelwood for 2 nights in September and were very pleased. It is within walking distance to the Minster and the rest of the sights as well as to restaurants and a grocery store, yet it is on a quiet residential street away from all the noise. An added advantage for us was the availability of parking... More

Over priced , compare Hotel prices. Arrived , biscuit crumbs on floor and sock from previous guest by window, obviously not hoovered. No clean towels over four day stay. Breakfast not taken , spartan breahfast area , at £12 , could eat anywhere in York cheaper and better. Not recommended.

Need to be clear at the outset that this reviewer did not actually stay with us. He booked the room for two ladies who had a limited grasp of English and we think it likely that much was lost in translation. Addressing the issues: when we investigated the “rubbish” that the ladies reported we discovered that the “crumbs” were actually... More

I hate leaving bad reviews but I would not stay at this b&b again. The bed was a thin, old memory foam on a tatty brown base that looked like it was from the 70's, it was rock hard. I had to shorten my stay as I could not get to sleep. There was also a constant wet patch on... More

We are very disappointed that you felt the need to write such a review but it is obvious from its overall tone that you had a very unhappy experience with us. Yours was the only room with a memory foam mattress which being firm is usually most highly thought of. However we do listen to our guests and have taken... More

This was our second visit to the Hazelwood, and we were not disappointed. Comfortable and clean accomodation, friendly and helpful staff, and so convenient for walking into the Minster area and the city centre. It has the advantage of having its own small car park, although if you have a long car you might experience some manoeuvring difficulties going round... More

The staff at the Hazelwood Hotel could not have been more helpful and welcoming. They attend to every detail - from accommodating special requests, to providing excellent and useful information in a notebook in each room. My room was very clean, and everything seemed new and fresh. The breakfast was delicious and worth the extra fee. I would recommend the... More
