St. Raphael Guest House earns rave reviews for its top-notch amenities, with guests frequently lauding the comfortable rooms complete with luxury bathroom products. The homemade breads and full English breakfasts are a hit, adding great value alongside the reasonable pricing and complimentary parking.

Detailed Reviews
My boyfriend and I spent two nights at this B&B. We were in Awe the whole time. It is in a very prime location so getting around by foot was very easy. The place is self checkin and out so you can come and go as you please, they offer bag storage as well. The hot/cold breakfast selection was delicious they cook you a home cooked meal every morning. Fran and Jamie were very friendly and excellent hosts. I am going to recommend my parents stay here. Great job guys!

A terrific B+B in a fabulous location.
We visited St Raphael for a birthday weekend treat recently and can only say how delighted we were with our stay.
We arrived slightly early and were assisted with parking and directions from a very helpful young lady.
The room we were allocated was 'Snickleways' on the 1st floor and it was spotlessly clean and welcoming as well as quiet being towards the rear of the property.
The bed was extremely comfortable and provided 2 nights excellent sleep.
All the amenities one could require were provided including complimentary bottled water which was a nice touch, as was the fresh flower on the dresser.
The guest house was ideally located a mere few hundred yards from the centre of York and having parking included was a massive plus.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and was organised very well in these days of social distancing.
We met Fran, the proprietor during breakfast, a lovely Italian lady and we had a long chat with her and expressed how delighted we were with our room.
To summarise, you could not wish to find a more perfectly located and run B+B in the centre of York at a very competitive price and we hope to visit again in the near future and would have no qualms in recommending St Raphael to anyone.

St Raphael Guest House is a lovely place to base yourself if you are staying in York and want to be able to walk into town. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are very comfortable. They even have fans in the rooms for when it's hot. We stayed in the family suite on the top floor. The breakfast was delicious and the ability to leave your car in the allotted spaces in Queen Annes Road is a real bonus. Well run and a smart key system means you can leave and return at your convenience. Will definitely use it again. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

We pre-booked parking and when we arrived we were presented with a parking permit and directed to an area in the street some 300 yards from the Guest House. We were extremely fortunate to find a space as the area is also a meter-parking zone. I did not enjoy moving our luggage from the car to our small room on the 2nd floor via a quite narrow steep staircase. The attached room with shower and basin and toilet was the smallest I have come across anywhere however everything worked without any problems. The room had a small tv that hinged round to allow viewing from the bed. Their was a second single bed in the room that we used for our suitcase etc. Free coffee making facilities were available in the room and were topped up via a small carrier-bag left by the door to our room.
The key aspect of this property is its position very close ( 7 minutes walk) from the centre of York. Because of COVID, breakfast was organised in shifts and we were told what time we should attend. Breakfast was excellent with Eggs Benedict on the menu. The staff were pleasant and professional. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Hi Glad you enjoyed your stay. We have guaranteed parking as we buy those spaces and the council guarantee them. Unfortunately there are only 5 opposite the guesthouse and the rest are 200 yards away at the bottom of the street. The top up bags are also due to us not being allowed in your rooms, it’s a COVID thing. We can’t wait to get back to normal. Thanks for staying Jamie & Fran

My husband and I stayed for one night for a short break in York. Considering the cost, this was such a great value find. Check in was so easy, our room was really clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable, and we only had a 5 minute walk to the centre of York too, which was so convenient. Fran, the owner, was so lovely and helpful, and she cooked a delicious breakfast the next morning, which was pre-ordered to help with keeping the breakfast service efficient with distancing measures. The location was quiet - great for sleeping. And parking was free too, as they have some private bays. In terms of value for money, taking into account the price, the service, ease of check in and out, free parking facility, quality of room and breakfast, and the location, you can't beat this lovely guest house.

Just returned from a lovely stay here. From the moment we arrived, we received a friendly and helpful welcome. Every possible care had been taken for social distancing and cleanliness, the staff were in PPE, breakfast items were to be pre-ordered and your breakfast time pre-booked etc, we were really impressed!
The room itself (a triple at the top of the house), was lovely. Bright and airy with comfy beds. It was nice that the single bed for our daughter was a proper bed and there was still plenty of space in the room. Both the bedroom and bathroom were v well stocked with amenities and overall it was peaceful and had a nice view over the area.
The full English breakfast in the morning was v tasty, with plenty of extras available such as croissants.
Clearly a lot of thought and effort has gone into making this a safe and comfortable experience, whilst still being a welcoming place to stay during such a difficult time.
We will be back!

Booked this online and and have to say this place is clean, nicely decorated and in a great location as 5-10 minute walk from the centre of York depending how fast you walk. The room is fat enough away for a great nights sleep
There is a helpful book in your room that highlights all attractions in York and places to eat out at.
The breakfast is plentiful and delicious. The food is served on hot plates which stops the food getting cold. The staff are very friendly. Would definitely stay here again. The 2 pieces of freshly baked banana bread on arrival was a particularly lovely touch

We arrived later in the day at this BnB and our room was set up with fresh homemade mincemeat mini pies and full array of items for hot drinks! The room was small but perfect for our needs since we wouldn’t spend much time in the room. Very Clean, comfortable bed and great location if you like walking everywhere! We parked the car for the entire stay.
Upon arrival the owner greeted us and gave us some tips for the evening. Our favorite was to walk quickly downtown to try to catch some of the Christmas market and find the “Hole in the Wall” spot to see the York Minster at night that he told us about. It was gorgeous!
We awoke the next morning to scents of homemade bread and a warm, cozy breakfast room with a wonderful selection of food including made to order hot breakfast! What more could you ask for!
Would stay again if we ever visit York and recommend to family and friends!

We stayed at St Raphael for a long weekend in May.
The information we were given before our arrival was clear and made checking in very easy. Parking permit included in price and across the road so very convenient.
The location of the guest house made it so easy to walk into the centre of York within 10 minutes, with different routes to choose from.
Room was comfortable and had everything that we needed, very comfy bed.
Breakfast was lovely, the produce served was good quality and very tasty, including the home made bread.
Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble.
Will definitely stay again, thank you!

Set in a quite street with parking. Parked up and never moved car again until we left.
Only about 10 minutes walk to York Cathedral and all that York has to offer.
The room was quite spacious with en-suite facilities with showergel and shower soap provided and tea/coffee in each room.
The buffet breakfast was beautifully presented with a menu of hot breakfast foods, enough to set you up for the day.
Would recommend this Guest House and certainly use again.

Not that I can recall - the Ebor is at the back along a cobbled driveway - there might be a small step from the living area to the bedroom. But there are steps up to the front door where you go for breakfast - not many maybe 3 or 4. Best to ask the host.
Sorry I don't know.
Yes it is and a easy walking distance to city
