We stayed at the Bronte Guesthouse for three nights and really enjoyed our time there. Our room was very clean and well appointed. The breakfast that our host, Mick, provided was tasty and were good portions. He offered a variety of egg dishes (try the Bronte breakfast, it was great) and he also had a variety of cereals, porridge and fruit cups. Mick was a great and engaging host. He chatted with us and offered us suggestions of how to get places and checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. If you enjoy getting to know the locals of where you're visiting, staying there will be a treat.

Great hosts, comfortable rooms, quiet residential location, super close to the city centre. Mick and Mandy were very welcoming, along with the lovely Meerkat (Burmese feline, not an actual meerkat!). We had a newly gluten free person in our party and Mick was very accommodating for breakfast. Looking forward to a return visit.

Took a short break in York for a change of scenery. The Bronte was a great choice, so welcoming and helpful. The location is excellent, around 4mins and you get to the Minster. The breakfasts were tasty, Ruth is an absolute gem. Rooms were spotless and very well appointed. Rates are very reasonable, the Bronte will now be my go-to preference for my next visit to York

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights as part of our 10 year anniversary celebrations Mick, the host, was great and very knowledgeable of the area. Parking was free and permit was given to park right outside Room was lovely and well appointed, there was even some prosecco and strawberries to help us celebrate Breakfast was perfect and just what you need to start your day exploring York (which is just a 10.minute walk up the road) Would definitely stay here again

Our room was lovely. Very clean and spacious. even though the train line was across the road from our window, you got used to the noise, as the trains are very few and far between. They don't seem to run during the night? The room has fantastic curtains which completely block out the light (essential for people with thin eyelids, like me!). Our breakfast (included in the price of the room) was delicious. Everything you could imagine you'd want was offered. The dining room was easily accessible and quintessentially English. The proprietor was more than helpful with any advice needed on how to best enjoy our stay. York's main shopping area (The Shambles etc) is within walking distance, depending on your level of fitness. Taxis are everywhere so even if you walk into town, you could quite easily get one back to the guest house. McArthur Glen shopping centre is approximately a 15 minute drive away. You can hop on the train (platform just a quick walk away) and apparently it takes you directly to it. Get there early if you are travelling by car to bag a good parking spot. The car park is huge but fills up quickly. The Bronte Guest House offers free street (very quiet, leafy, one-way) parking directly outside the property. You are given a free parking pass to display in the car window. Also, FREE WI - FI is available. We have been to York many times but this time was just to relax. There are an abundance of historical sights to see and visit, both for young and old.

Excellent guest house with very friendly and helpful hosts. Rooms are very comfortable with everything needed eg iron, ironing board and kettle. Breakfast is exceptional with a varied choice of fruit, cereals and hot food. An added bonus is free on street parking which is not always available in York. A few minutes walk takes you to the minster. We will return in the future
