We booked an overnight stay with prosecco on arrival, afternoon tea & breakfast the next day on Livingsocial for an unbelievably reasonable price. The location is absolutely ideal, just minutes away from Cathedral & walking distance from the main sights in the city. The receptionist was very welcoming & showed us to our room which was outside the main original building in what I think is a purpose built extension. Our room was absolutely lovely, so clean & well presented with a nice bathroom & very decent shower. Our promised prosecco was waiting for us, chilled on ice. Our afternoon tea was outstanding. We each got a chocolate brownie, slice of carrot cake & warm scone with plenty of clotted cream & strawberry jam. They were all absolute perfection, especially the scone which I would say is the best I've ever had. Breakfast was great too, my partner had full English & I had veggie version, we both thought they were delicious & didn't leave any leftovers. I would highly recommend staying here if you visit York, its such a fantastic hotel & its so central if you're going sightseeing. We will definitely stay here again when we visit again, thank you so much for such a great stay!

Lovely little hotel just a couple of minutes outside the walls and from the main centre of York.

I was worried it’s location would make it noisy, but we were in a room out the back of the building, so it was really quiet. The room was a little small, but the single beds were a decent size, with good quality mattress, duvets and bed linen, so a very comfy nights sleep. The room had tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, proper toiletries. Everything needed.

Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and served by two very pleasant ladies. Very tasty cooked meal as well as a selection of cereals.

We were able to leave our luggage on arrival and departure while we went sightseeing which was a big help, and the chap on reception was really helpful.

Only reason I’ve not given it 5 stars is our bathroom door wouldn’t close (bit embarrassing when with a friend) and the shower door stuck and had to be forcefully yanked open and closed.

Otherwise it was a perfect place to stay, and I’d recommend it. I’d definitely go again.

Myself and three friends enjoyed an overnight stay in this friendly hotel. We were in the Mews which is modern, well equipped and quiet. Our deal included cream tea on day of arrival, choice of full English or continental breakfast, late checkout and 2 complimentary bottles of prosecco . We were also given cheaper car parking close to the Hotel. We were very happy with the quality of the food and accommodation. Would recommend.

We booked the hotel due to the location. York was lovely but the hotel was very disappointing. Our room had obviously not been used for a while and it had a mould sort of smell even though our window was open to air the room on arrival. The bathroom had peeling paint, silicone sealant half removed and generally dirty. The bed was really hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast was £9 each, we had to book 2 rooms but had to eat breakfast as 2 tables of 2 not as a family even though they knew we were a family. There was nothing special about it with a cup of tea and a small English breakfast and toast but nothing else offered and a time slot of 0800 or 0845 which is really early after enjoying a good night out in York.
The parking was a bit of a farce as having to drag your case in the rain for 5 minutes isn't ideal when the hotel message to say the car park is "just across from the hotel" it's almost as legendary as how far the Spanish can throw stones when a hotel is a stones throw away lol

Stayed here for 2nights and I'd definitely recommend to others. Central location, 15mins from York train station, less than 10mins walk to York Minster and about 15mins to Clifford Tower. My room was on Bootham which meant there was a bit of noise traffic but to be expected, the window have secondary glazing. I wore ear plugs at night so no problem. Room was spacious and clean plus the nice surprise of a little bottle of prosecco as a welcome gift. 🍾🥂 Left luggage safely there on day of check out before picking up on way to train station.
Thank you.

We also stayed due to Travel Zoo voucher, Room located in the Mews. Happy about this as although hotel on a busy road the room was very quiet. Although only a small wardrobe there was plenty of drawer space to compensate, furniture of good quality and beds very comfortable. Everything was spotless and the only ‘ fault ‘ was a lack of somewhere to put toiletries in the bathroom . The complimentary bottle of Prosecco was certainly a well received surprise.. location was perfect . Just yards from the city walls , about three minutes to York Minster and plenty of eating places nearby.
Breakfast hearty and well cooked, the waiting staff went out of their way to see that I had gluten free options and hosts always available. Would certainly stay here again.

The location sells his property, it is approx a 6 min walk from the cathedral and approx a 20 walk to the train station. Inside the hotel our room was small and the plumbing was noisy at times, clearly linked to another room flushing the toilet.
Room was clean with x 2 skylight windows.
Our room was located at the back of the hotel in a newer extension so had to walk outside to access the room at the back, but this isn’t a negative just a point to note.
Breakfast was great for myself, however it didn’t promote a veggie option, but we never asked, our fault maybe, so scrambled egg was my wife’s choice.
Staff were great, very friendly and helpful also allowing us the leave the bags when we checked out to be collected later in the day.
I’d stay again at this hotel only for the location which is superb, the other qualities can be gained from a cheaper option.
We did travel by train but I believe there is car parking at the rear of the hotel.

Position in York was very good with York Minster a 5 minute walk away. The room was adequate, but no airconditioning and was very hot even when running the fan they supplied. Full English breakfast was very good but you had to pay for it (£10) and there was no alternative. This made the Guest House quite expensive.

This well run B&B is ideally placed for visiting York being within easy walking distance of the station and minutes from York centre. The rates are very reasonable and the accomodation is very clean and well presented. Excellent breakfast and friendly, helpful staff - what more could you ask for?

Spent 2 nights in York and this hotel suited us perfectly. The room was very clean, only very minor complaints would be that the hairdryer was full of lint and overheated quickly and the shower fan was in a similar state, but these did not inconvenience us in any way.
The hotel was situated perfectly - about 10/15 minutes walk to most major sites/attractions. On a main road but our room was honestly pretty quiet. The staff were lovely too.
The hotel had a baggage storage service which we didn’t know was free to guests til we asked about the prices of storing our luggage after checkout, a nice surprise and saved us a few quid.
Overall a lovely place to stay.
