Travellers' Choice
The Twice Brewed is set amongst some of the most breathtaking scenery in England and stands in the shadows of Steel Rigg, without doubt one of the most dramatic parts of Hadrian’s Wall. The Inn is situated on the B6318 (The Military Road) midway between Newcastle Upon Tyne in the East and Carlisle in the West and is close to all the main Roman sites – Vindolanda, Housesteads and The Roman Army Museum. The Inn is on the popular Pennine Way route and welcomes walkers with a drying room and other facilities. We are also on the Hadrians Cycleway (Route 72) and near the Sandstone Way cycle route. We are 4 miles away from Haltwhistle train station and 15 miles away from Hexham train station

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Super friendly staff who can’t do enough to help, we were welcomed like friends and treat like royalty! The staff seem to genuinely love working there, the food was great the room was clean super toasty warm and the pub had roaring fires and perfect hot chocolate (expertly made) we will be going back :)

Fantastic welcoming pub with great food and drink to match. Lovely Sunday Lunch, local beers and welcoming, helpful, experience staff - particularly Meg. Also, unlike The Sill Cafe and Discovery Centre next door, very dog-friendly. Dogs welcomed, not just tolerated.

Booked on a Stargazing night with room and evening meal. Typical, extremely, friendly Northumbrian welcome and service. Room was quite small but cosy and completely adequate. Location is brilliant, not just for stargazing, very close to Hadrians Wall, and The Sill and Vinolandia. Had a fabulous walk along the wall such a huge shame to see the stump of the Sycamore, can't understand the mindset of the vandals that cut the ree down. Had an early dinner before the Stargazing experience, can't understand all the whinging about food, portions were sizeable, food was of a high quality as was service. Breakfast also very reasonable. Big thanks to ALL the staff, many who were involved in the dilemma of someone parking on my EV charging cable having left their car overnight. Definitely

What a fabulous place ! Spent the day before our wedding anniversary here, had an evening meal , stayed over and did the stargazing evening and breakfast. Food and beer wonderful and the staff were amazing. Lovely cosy room. Will give a separate review for the star gazing but would highly recommend it. Visited the planetarium, which I didn’t expect to find here. Go to Vindolanda roman site and museum , just a mile away. Huge site and the museum is so interesting . Only here for 24 hours but packed so much in xx

Great Sunday Dinner, half-portions of Sunday roasts for children. Food was great and service from Meg & Holly was attentive and efficient even though it was busy. Board game shelf was well received.

We were initially attracted to this place as a doggy-friendly coffee stop, but were so taken by the warm welcome we stayed on for lunch then returned later in the week. Excellent food, beer, service and doggy friendly 🐶. Thank you Steph, Tracey and Meg 👏👏👏

Booked for Sunday dinner in the cosy bar area which was excellent. Being relatively local, I've been here many times. The food and staff were great. However, one of my main reasons for coming here is the beer............brewed in the brewery a few feet away! There's always a good selection of Twice Brewed Beers on the bar which regularly change so I like to try what's on offer. Other well known 'branded' beers are also available. A lot of the Twice Brewed beer is really good. As a 'micro brewery' I personally don't think the place makes enough of what they produce themselves. I realise not everyone is a 'craft beer' geek. Perhaps a clip board with a beer list and tasting notes on the table might be useful?. Having said that, the staff (Meg) was well informed re the beers and

Just spent a fabulous few days here in cabin 3. Staff are real asset to your business and you should be so proud of them. Breakfast and dinner was a real delight because of them, not forgetting the food which was delicious, breakfast, Sea Bream 10/10 had it two nights in a row. Did stargazing and planetarium too, brilliant with Wil as our host. We will definitely be back and can’t understand all the negative comments!!

We had a great couple of days. The staff were excellent, the receptionist was lovely and helpful, Steph in the Tap Room was exceptional and Meg serving us was lovely, helpful and friendly. The owner/manager(?) was always there and the whole stay was great. We will rerun soon and recommend it. Good location for Hadrians Wall enthusiasts but you do need transport. It’s family & dog friendly and well worth a visit for any reason. The food is good and the service great. Thank You for a great stay.
