Myself and my husband stayed for 2 nights mid-October. I had looked for quite a while for dog friendly holidays, as although we’ve had our dogs for years, we’ve never actually been away with them. Bolehill looked and sounded perfect, and we were able to stay in Sheepfold Cottage as this accommodated our 3 dogs (at a very low charge too).

We arrived to a beautifully presented cottage with a home made lemon drizzle cake, a welcome pack and a dog welcome pack. We then met Dan, one of the owners, who talked to us about the facilities (game room, laundry room, dog paddock, guest garden etc) and also told us about walks and dog friendly places/things to do in the local area. He also let us know that both himself and Fay were around if we needed anything.

With regards to the cottage, we couldn’t ask for more. It was spacious and very cleverly set out across split layers; you walk in to a large kitchen/diner which is modern and decorated to a high standard, and to the right there is a small set of stairs leading up to a lounge with a TV, 2 large comfy sofas, a coffee table with a local area pack showing walks and local attractions, and sky light windows so you can see the sunset/sunrise. Also to the right of the kitchen, there is a small set of stairs leading down to the bedrooms - one double and one single, and we had a very comfy night’s sleep on both nights we were there. Outside the cottage there is an enclosed gravelled area with a bench, so we could have the door open and the dogs could come in and out as they pleased.

Within the grounds there is a dedicated ‘dog paddock’, which our 3 absolutely loved, especially as in the neighbouring field was a herd of cows (although I’m sure the cows were not as enamoured with our lot!). The games room contained a ping pong table, a pool table and a foosball table, and downstairs there were games, decks of cards and DVDs that you could take back to your cottage.

We had such a peaceful couple of days at Bolehill and it was something all of us (including the dogs!) definitely needed. As we were leaving, we saw Dan and Fay and had a lovely chat - they really couldn’t do enough for us. As soon as we got home we rebooked Sheepfold for 2021 but for 4 nights this time and we cannot wait!

We stayed in Bluebell and were extremely pleased with the cleanliness and homeliness. The kitchen was well equipped and the cottage came with a very informative welcome pack detailing a wide variety of Peak District activities and attractions. We were delighted to take advantage of the BBQ and seating area which were impressive, with coal and utensils provided.

Dan and Fay the owners were very friendly and approachable and made themselves easily accessible for any queries. The grounds were very well kept and all facilities were easy to find and use. The views from Bolehill Farm were stunning and we particularly enjoyed walking the paths set out in the welcome pack that lead to the local towns. There were so many things to do that were a short 10 minute drive, including: walks, cycle paths, towns, markets, authentic Bakewell puddings, stunning viewpoints, restaurants and pubs; yet the farm was located in a peaceful, idyllic spot. We look forward to returning to Bolehill Farm again and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive and thorough review - we greatly appreciate it. We do our very best regarding cleaning protocols and therefore naturally pleased that you were happy with the 'cleanliness and homeliness' of the cottages and site. In addition, very pleased to read you enjoyed the grounds, views and general site location. Thanks again, we appreciate it! Dan

We visited Bolehill as a family group of 8 adults, 6 children ranging from 10 months to 14 yrs, and 3 dogs! Sole use of separate large kitchen/dining area (small add cost) made it easy to meet up as a group, and all enjoyed the spacious games room with kiddie corner. All of our individual cottages were of extremely high standard, quality and cleanliness, comfy beds, soft pillows, towels (if you like a bath sheet rather than bath towel, you might like to take your own). and it was a real bonus having all the kitchen cleaning essentials provided. Lovely personal touches - welcome tray with tea/coffee/hot chocolate/sugar and home-made brownies. Doggie guests not left out and had welcome basket with blankets, bowls and treats. Practical extras such as boot trays for after muddy walks. Dan and Faye are lovely hosts, clearly very committed to giving their guests a great holiday experience with home from home feeling. Location was fantastic, just 5 minutes outside of Bakewell, with wonderful views all round and many attractions within a 30 minute drive. Don't miss Tagg Lane Dairy, for the most delicious ice cream.

We had a lovely six days staying in the Honeysuckle cottage. The cottage was cosy, clean and had all the facilities we could have possibly needed. It was the perfect size for the two of us. The site in general is also really lovely, surrounded by fields so perfect for a quiet relaxing break. There is a communal building which has a washing machine and dryer which we were allowed to use as well as a games room upstairs. The cottage was also a great base for exploring the Peak District. Thanks Dan and Fay :)

We stayed in Lathkill Cottage for 5 nights. The cottage is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated with a large kitchen/ dining/living room with a large log burner, two double bedrooms(one en-suite) and a large main bathroom. Lathkill is well equipped and there is plenty of storage space throughout.
On arrival there was a lovely welcome tray with tea, coffee and heavenly homemade chocolate brownies There were treats, bowls, towels and blankets for Corrie our black lab.
We were snowed in for 3 days of our stay but this didn’t detract from our enjoyment. I walked Corrie through the gardens and the adjacent fields every day before returning to relax in front of the log burner. Plenty of free logs were provided throughout our stay.
Nothing was too much trouble for Dan and Fay and they went out their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable
We highly recommend Bolehill Farm Cottages. It has a perfect location, is very dog friendly with wonderful walks from the doorstep whatever the weather. We have booked twice for next year and can’t wait to return.

Wow, what can I say about Bolehill Farm cottages?!
Due to Covid-19, it was a contactless check in but I saw Dan in the courtyard and he offered to give me a guided tour of the site/facilities. He was so helpful, showed me where I could exercise my dogs and how to get on the public footpath from the fields.
The cottage, Honeysuckle, was so clean I had no worries there. There was a hospitality tray for me, coffee, tea etc and the most amazing homemade lemon drizzle cake I’ve ever tasted. Thank you Fay.
There was a little wooden crate of things for the dogs, bowls, bed and a bag of treats.
It doesn’t state it on the website but the dog paddock IS secure which was one thing I worried about before arriving. My dogs aren’t good at recall but I didn’t need to worry.
I didn’t use all the facilities but everything was thought of, dishwasher, oven, laundry room etc.
I’d definitely love to return to Bolehill Farm, it was so tranquil, proper fresh air yet still close enough to Bakewell town centre and Monyash and many more lovely villages nearby to explore.
There’s absolutely no negative comments I can can say about this place, thank you for making my stay so comfortable Dan and Fay x

You're very welcome and thanks for going to the trouble of leaving such a nice review. We're often around and mean it when we say "we are here to help" - we always try to do what we can for our guests. Pleased also that you enjoyed the dog paddock. We've never dared state that the dog paddock is secure on the website! We've always gone down the route of saying "it's enclosed" - perhaps we need to have more confidence with it! Take care and all the best to you. Dan

We stayed in Lathkill for 6 nights at the end of May. The accommodation was of a very high standard and it is a great location for exploring the whole of the Peak District.

The views from the cottages and gardens are wonderful. Dan and Fay, the owners, are friendly, helpful and make you feel very welcome.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely return for another visit.

We had the most perfect stay in Bluebell cottage. Everything had been so lovingly well thought about. It’s a beautiful cosy cottage with everything you need and more. The welcome hamper for us and also for our dog made us feel extremely welcome. The dog paddocks are a great space for off lead exercise for dogs of any size, with fantastic views of the countryside to enjoy. The games room is also a great space for all ages, with so many different things to do. The owners were friendly and on hand if needed or even just for a chat. We can not recommend Bolehill Farm cottages enough. Truly amazing location, accommodation and hosts.

Lovely cottages with everything you need: comfy beds, sofas, pillows etc. All of the small touches were so lovely: a home baked lemon drizzle cake, delicious coffee and cafetiere, fresh milk from the farm.
Really enthusiastic, charming hosts with a tonne of tips on what to do, where to eat, you can tell that they absolutely love hosting and making people feel welcome and comfortable. The games room is fantastic, with fusball, ping pong, pool, books, dvds, boardgames and puzzles. If you want a great, relaxing weekend with friends or family in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, do not hesitate to book bolehill farm!

I recently had yet another lovely break at Bolehill Farm Cottages. This was my first 'post lockdown' holiday and any concerns l'd had dissolved the moment l opened the door to Honeysuckle Cottage, the place was pristine! Clean, comfy and welcoming.

A new alfresco dining area complete with barbecues and lots of seating has been created within the grounds which overlooks the beautiful scenery of the dales, l particularly love the arbour seat. Fay and Dan are wonderful hosts who go the extra mile to ensure everyone has a great holiday, without being intrusive. It really is simply perfect here.
