Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We absolutely love Jim’s barn! It’s like a home from home for us, we have stayed so many times. It’s absolutely beautiful, with breathtaking views, it’s super clean and cozy with everything you need for a relaxing family holiday. We’ll be back next year!

We stayed in Jennys cottage for 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The cottage had everything that we needed and was really clean and cosy. Considering we stayed in a farm cottage it was surprisingly quiet and didn't hear much of the farm animals. It was actually really nice listening to the cockerell in the early morning. The farm has a lovely border collie he was so friendly. Nicely the owner couldn't have been more helpful. I would certainly recommend this place for a little time away.

The cottage was extremely well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean with all amenities that we needed. It was very quiet at night, so we slept very well. The hosts also stopped by to welcome us and ask whether we had any questions or additional requirements. We felt very much at home and the eggs, milk and biscuits on our arrival were a welcome bonus. The accommodation was also within walking distance of our dry stone walling course on a nearby farm.

It was a really nice and cosy atmosphere. There is a fireplace and the cottage is on a working farm 🚜. My one-year old son absolutely loved the animals ❤. We also had the opportunity to go to the nearby town and explore.

It was really a calm, relaxing get away from the city rush and all entanglement of life. The host was really nice and was checking up on our needs. It is a great place to stay in with all scenic views and fun activities to have a relaxing time. There's a pet dog on the farm she was a lovely surprise to us. You can find horses, chickens, sheep and Turkeys to get along with a nice walking distance to shooting range if in need of an adrenaline rush. All in all it was a good experience for the getaway much needed. They have a different type of accommodation according to the number of people in your group and so you can book accordingly.

Thank you for a lovely review. Yes, a car is advisable if you want to get around the local area although we do get lots of walkers visiting us, we are ideally situated for either gentle rambles or longer treks in the stunning countryside. So glad you enjoyed your stay.

I have stayed at Diggle House Farm a few times now with my partner and son and we always have a lovely relaxing time there. The cottages are comfortable, cosy and welcoming, and it’s nice to be on the farm with hills and countryside right on your doorstep. My 6 yr old son also enjoys all the animals. Abigail is a great host. I’d definitely recommend staying.

We stayed in Jim's Barn for a fortnight while we were between houses. We were greeted by tea making provisions, some lovely shortbread biscuits and fresh eggs from the farm, which was a thoughtful touch. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had pretty much everything we needed for a home away from home. The view was absolutely spectacular and we had a picnic bench we could use to admire it. We loved waking up to the sound of the cockerel and getting to know the horses - plus the very friendly sheep dog who came to say hello every time we left in the morning. There is also a washing machine to use in a communal utility room, which was very useful. Only slight negative point was that the guests staying in the cottage next door to us kept sitting on our bench in front of the window, when they had their own space and this felt quite intrusive. However, this was only a small thing and everything else was fantastic - wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others or stay again ourselves.

Thank you for leaving us a review, it is much appreciated. Glad you met Taffy the sheepdog - he absolutely loves people so he will have been in his element greeting you each morning! If you had let us know about the guests using your picnic bench, we could have spoken to them immediately and reminded them of their own outside space - we're always at the end of the phone if any problems occur. Good luck with your new house and glad we could help.

We saw & booked Nell's cottage as it seemed like a perfect place for a little getaway - in the countryside surrounded by rolling hills, spectacular scenery, home from home comforts & somewhere to relax & enjoy some peace & quiet. My daughter has just finished her A levels & I'm just recuperating following an operation. We couldn't wait to get here! On arrival we weren't disappointed- the cottage is beautiful, spacious & spotlessly clean. The views from the windows are amazing. We brought all our supplies needed for our 2 ngt stay so we could totally switch off & do as much or little as we pleased. The owners had provided fresh eggs / milk & biscuits which was a nice touch. We enjoyed spending time outside in the alloted sitting out area & felt our stresses draining away. We loved the little walks from our doorstep & being surrounded (& amused) by all the farm animals. However, please note this particular cottage is adjoined to the owners cottage, it is all very private but unfortunately we were very aware of their presence throughout our stay here. They have the floor above both bedrooms, and we became alerted to the noise during our first night. The upper floorboards are very creaky & we could hear the constant foot steps of people walking above & the loud mumble of conversations. Things settled down & we eventually slept peacefully. However we were awoke at 7am on the Sunday morning ( extremely early for us as we were looking forward to a lovely lay in) by the noises again sadly. We understand this is a working farm, they are busy people but nevertheless we had paid good money to come here & relax. Worst still on the morning of departure we were woke yet again early, by the creaking floorboards, chatter, hoovering above us & what sounded like the washer vibrating through the walls on full spin !? Not pleasant sadly. The owners had kindly agreed to us vacating slightly later at 11am, (so we could have hopefully enjoyed a lay in before heading home) but unfortunately this was not the case. This is a wonderful place / area, but if its peace & quiet your seeking then maybe stay in either of the other 2 cottages which are not adjoined to the owners home. Sadly disappointed 😞 Beautiful place, but ready for home.... and a good sleep.

Thank you very much for leaving us a review. We're so glad that you loved the scenery, the cottage and all of the extra efforts we go to to ensure that our guests have the best possible stay. We were very puzzled, however, as we don't actually live at the farm. My elderly parents do but they go to bed very early (retired farmers) and my dad has mobility issues. Mum doesn't get up before 9.00 am so they are very quiet people. They are also aware when we have guests staying in Nell's Cottage and are very respectful of this. If you had let us know that there were issues after your first night, we could definitely have investigated the cause. We are a very busy working farm, especially at this time of year and all of our guests tell us that the animals, tractors and all the farming activities (we are haymaking at the moment!) enhances their holiday experience. We're sorry that this break wasn't for you but we can see from the other reviews that you have left that this type of holiday hasn't suited you previously. We hope that your daughter gets the exam results that she hopes for and that you make a speedy recovery from your recent operation. Best wishes Nigel & Abigail, Owners.
