I had the joy of weekend 3 night stay here while travelling with friends and cisiting Warhammer World

Location
The location is just outside Nottingham city center, just about a 15-20 minute walk away, maybe a tad longer to get to the rail station. They offer a decent size parking lot so for people like us arriving by car from London Gatwich it was an ideal location.
Immediately across the road you'll have access to a quite large Sainsbury's and also in the immediate surrounding area you'll find a few options for fast food and at least one location to grab a drink.

Hotel
The hotel presents itself well with a large welcoming reception area offering seating and some very welcoming staff greeting you upon arrival.
Immediately past the reception area is the hotel bar and breakfast lounge. (They might also have been offering other meals, but we settled to enjoy only the breakfast, which I must add had a nice selection of meal options from traditional English to continental. Remember to specify your preferred meal time when checking in.
I have to add a special no to the hotel bar where we did enjoy a rather calm and relaxing atmosphere and a very welcoming and understanding bartender for our Norwegian shenanigans. Very comfy lounge I must add.

The room
Nice size room with very comfy beds. The quiet area combined with well insulated walls, doors and windows gave us two friends with small children at home a welcome quiet break. Tidy and clean room. As my friend is a little paranoid of potential pests hitchhiking home with our luggage he gave the room a full check and we were happy to enjoy a spotless room.
Nice size bathroom with the usual amenities.
Like with many hotels there is always a bit of a hassle adjusting the room temperature, (who can blame us, they are never the same...) slightly slow to increase the temperature but we got it right in the end.
Only two elevators (as I was avare of) so there might be a slight wait in the rush hour(s) around breakfast and checkout, not really an isssue but worth noting if you are in a hurry.

Overall impression
Do I have anything to complain about at all? Not really.
The hotel serves the average good hotel expectation well. Great for the short stay and for sightseeing tabletop wargamers the hotel is at an ideal location for our "needs"
Thanks for the stay, you are our preferred hotel for the next visit!

Free parking. Location is next to a retail park with Sainsbury and some other restaurants. Variety of choices are available at breakfasts. The bar serve till late so that you could have a nightcap before bedtime. A brilliant Chinese Seafood Restaurant is nearby which we enjoyed our dinner there very much.

2 night city break. Decent location on edge of city centre (0.9 miles away), with free parking.
Good sized modern clean room with enough space for the 2 of us. only issue was location of our room, room 2 on ground floor, which is close to reception and the bar area, which meant at night that was an excess of noise from loud and inconsiderate guests in the bar.
Free parking, and paid for breakfast included got convenience. Breakfast was decent standard hotel chain fare, on a buffet basis with the usual choices.
Overall happy with our choice, it was good value, and would go again when visiting Nottingham, other than choose a different room!

Having stayed in Holiday Inn's many, many times over the years, I didnt hesitate to book a room at Holiday Inn Nottingham when I accompanied my Mum on a hospital visit.

First impressions were good, parking was good and most importantly FREE!

Staff were friendly, and we were checked in promptly. Unfortunately that's where the good turned ugly.

On arrival to my room (325) I found red stains on the carpet, that looked suspiciously like blood... (or red wine). I thought little of it as I suppose you cant always get out every spill guests make. However when going into the bathroom I found the red stains were also all over the toilet seat, and round the edge of the bath.

I was beginning to wonder if I had accidentally booked myself in for a murder mystery weekend, but being exhausted from a long drive and a busy day at the hospital I decided to ignore it and have a lie down to watch some tv.

As the evening went on I reached over to turn on the lamp, which ignored my request. I went over the other side of the room to try the other lamp which also refused to co-operate. So I resigned myself to either sitting with the main lights on or to sitting in the dark.

When it came time to sleep, I soon realised the walls were not as thick as you would expect in a hotel, every time my neighbour used the toilet I was woken by the noise. Likewise whenever anyone else on my floor opened or shut their doors the door to my room rattled furiously. Quite unnerving in the middle of the night, given the questionable stains I wondered if my rooms previous occupant was maybe still occupying the premises.

Next morning I woke early, having had very little sleep, and wanted nothing more than a hot shower. As advised by the signs in the bathroom I went to pick up the bath mat only to find a pile of hair underneath it. I decided to risk being the 2nd visitor to 325 to meet their demise and showered without.

Heading down for breakfast I felt sure that of all things a Holiday Inn breakfast would make me feel better.. I was to be disappointed again. Continuing the house of horrors theme we had sausages that were not coloured on the outside giving them the look of severed fingers, the scrambled egg looked more like slime, and there was no apple juice.

I promptly checked out, and drove away as quickly as I could before the curse of roo. 325 could claim me.

Safe to sat I wont be booking into a Holiday Inn for next months trip away!

A poor service experience.. 4 emails to get a credit card changed.

A poor check-in experience...a single drink for 2 of us for the 2 nights as a Spire member. No upgrade, given a room, 306 over the Aircon.. thanks.

House keeping ignored the Do Not disturb sign and walked in and even after finding us laying on the beds asked that they clean the room.

A disinterested duty manager made this place to avoid with no attempt at service recovery for the above.

There is a Premier Inn next door, check them out for rates.

Thank you for getting in touch drdanielmacdonald We're disappointed to learn your stay was not up to the high standard we pride ourselves on. We greatly appreciate you IHG Rewards membership - please get in touch with our team when booking to ensure we can allocate you one of our newest rooms with possible upgrade on your next stay - we have seen a large increase in popularity for City breaks in the UK this summer which has affected our room availability on some occasions due to long stay guests. Part of the Rewards membership entitles the cardholder only to a welcome amenity on arrival, please note this is standard across all IHG hotels and not based on length of stay or guests in room. I will be discussing your comments about Housekeeping and service recovery with my management teams, with so many new additional to our team, staff training has been our on-going priority. We want to ensure every guests has an outstanding stay each and every time they visit. I understand you have many options for IHG properties when staying away from home, we hope to have the chance to welcome you back and assure you of the fantastic standards delivered by our dedicated team. we came here for a 6 night stay but came home 2 days early.
lets start with the room .the beds are not that big and quite hard which i found uncomfortable.apart from that the room was o.k.
we stayed in the hotel dining room for our first night which was a thursday and it was steak night.it turned out to be a disaster.
the steak tasted off so i couldnt eat it and the chips were rock hard.all that for 20 pounds.i complained but didnt get anywhere so i told the waiter i would never eat there again.food was expensive and inedible.customer service is atrocious.
we left 2 days early and i would never eat a main meal at a holiday inn again and i will never stay at another one of thier hotels ever again.it was my first experience at the holiday inn and it will be my last.i would never reccomend the hotel dining room to anyone.save your money and go to mcdonalds nearby.it would be cheaper and you could at least eat your food at a mcdonalds.

Good Afternoon Katy I hope you are well, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback following your recent stay with us at Holiday Inn Nottingham. After reviewing the information that you have provided i am very disappointed that you feel the way you do and checked out 2 days early. The room you was allocated was a twin room and that comes with two king size beds as standard for that room specification. We do 2 different sizes within the hotel depending on the specification of the room. In our executive rooms they all come with a Super King size bed as standard. In regards to the steak and chips our food is delivered fresh on a daily basis in which our chefs do there upmost best to try and make sure its served to the best standard possible. Unfortunately on this occasion after speaking with the team they was not told about any of your food issues during your stay so was unable to rectify the problem. I am deeply saddened you feel this way and i will share with the relevant teams and do my upmost best to move the hotel forward. Thank you Tom

Just on the way home after a fabulous night at this hotel .When i booked i mentioned it was for our wedding anniversary and Chris very kindly upgraded us to an executive suite and the room was lovely with a king size bed a large wet room a 50 inch flat screen tv , bathrobes an iron and ironing board a full size hairdryer a free safe and a fridge .The room was lovely and quiet .The safety measures were all very good with hand sanitizer readily available
We had the breakfast and we were shown to our table where we remained seated while drinks , toast and cereals were bought to us and then for the cooked breakfast you go to the hot buffet and your food is dished out for you .All staff without exception were very pleasant and extremely professional. We will most definitely be returning to Nottingham and when we do this is where we ll stay we loved it .Thanks to all

Arrived rather late having booked the same day, 23.15, nightmare finding a parking space.

Arrived at reception and demanded a credit card deposit of £25, I explained my breakfast was already paid for and I wouldn’t be ordering anything against the room, was informed cannot be checked in unless I paid and it was for security and would be refunded on check out. Why this isn’t in the booking terms and conditions is utterly perplexing, shame on you holiday inn…. I asked why none of the other hotels in the group do this and was informed we can do whatever we like, think that sums it up beautifully…

Asked what time I wanted breakfast I am a frequent visitor to hotels and asked why don’t I just come down and grab a seat etc, no, you have to book a time, asked for 7am, told we are very busy at that time so cannot accommodate you then, I asked what time they start breakfast and was informed 7am, not sure why if 7am is so busy that they don’t start breakfasts earlier, end result I got frustrated at reception and asked for a manager. Told no one here, computer says no response. Informed I can grab a bag of breakfast if preferred.

I booked a king sized bedroom, I got some sort of horrid family room with two beds crammed in, one against the wall, the decor looks like it’s from the 1980’s, I went back to reception to check if I was in the right room and was told I’ve two king beds, an utterly horrid room, old fashioned furniture and lighting, the bathroom seriously needs an upgrade ASAP, horrid tiles, yellowish once white counter with sink , the towels were lovely mind you.

The room was clean, okay to crash in, but certainly not worth the money and the agro, I won’t be staying at this hotel again and would not recommend to any colleagues who also like me stay in Nottingham frequently.

Still shocked that this room was prepaid and I was threatened I cannot check in without paying £25, this hotel is not worthy of either holiday inn brand or IHG hotels, it’s the worst check in experience I’ve ever had and I’ve stayed in maybe 40 hotels in the last 6 months….

We're very sorry to hear about your experience johnmV3228CY Please be assured we will be looking into your feedback with our Front Office team and will be carrying out some fresher training to prevent any future confusions occurring. Like many hotels we do take a pre authorization from a valid card from all guests on check in - details of this are included in our booking terms and conditions as well as listed as an alert on website, this authorization is either a 1p or £25 per night if wishing to open up credit facilities to enjoy during your stay. We understand breakfast is a very important part of every guests visit. To ensure we offer the best service we have been offering breakfast bookings since 2020 - we saw a great increase in our satisfaction scores from guests who now have a more enjoyable experience, no over crowded restaurants and a fresh buffet for every sitting - for those in a rush we also breakfast bags which offer a great choice of cooked and continental items to enjoy on the go. We're confident if you had the opportunity to return in the future your next stay would be greatly improved and you would experience the kind of stay our team are so proud to offer all our guests. Kind wishes Abby Rischer - Deputy GM

This is a lovely hotel to stay in , we arrived early and asked if we could leave the car in the car park until check in time , the receptionist checked and our room was ready for us so allowed Early check in , she was genuinely helpful and friendly. The room was excellent with two double beds, clean well equipped with tv, hairdryer, iron and kettle (with tea, coffee and milk) The bathroom was clean and is well stocked with toilet roll, soap and shower gel, the only comment I have about the bathroom is the toilet paper could be better quality and the shower didn’t have very good water pressure. We had the breakfast which was extremely good and hot and again the staff were so helpful and accommodating, great location I would definitely stay again and will be booking IHG hotels in the future ! Congratulations Nottingham team you have a great hotel

We had a lovely 2 night stay from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th December!

We stayed in the Premium King Room on the ground floor.
The room was absolutely huge, had a lovely modernised bathroom and massive walk in shower with a rain shower and a separate detachable head (an absolute must for someone who doesn’t want to wash their hair everyday)!

There were also a good selection of miniature toiletries, a shower cap and even a sewing kit should you need it.

The bed was the perfect size, very comfortable and big enough for my 6ft4 fiancé to stretch out comfortably too!

There was a good choice teas and coffees and we even had a minibar with some chilled bottled water and 2 complimentary chocolate bars in, which was a lovely touch!

We primarily used the hotel as base to go and explore Nottingham, do some shopping and explore the Winter Wonderland, but we are so glad we did!
We had the loveliest stay, a spotlessly clean, peaceful and quiet room to come back to after busy days out exploring was the best feeling!
If we ever come to Nottingham again, we will be sure to come back!
