Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for a two-night visit Friday-Sunday. We opted for the free breakfast which was generous with the food and drinks available. A very friendly member of staff offered to make us teas and coffees on both mornings.
I cannot fault this hotel as the check in and check out went smoothly, the staff were friendly and the room was comfortable. No nasty surprises.
As expected, the rooms are very close together so the only issue we had was being disturbed one morning by a family in another room. Unfortunately, this hotel hasn’t introduced a child-ban.
...yet 😛

I have stayed here 4 times in the space of 8 months and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have had the shared bathroom double room and the double room with an en suite and both rooms were comfy and everything that I needed for a good stay. Staff were brilliant friendly and very helpful always make you feel welcome nothing ever a problem for them. Breakfast is lovely nice small choice to choose from (continental style) with hot food if you choose do so which was nice. Great location literally situated next to the train station so great if you end up waiting for a train even if it's a few hours till your train there's a nice lounge area to wait in and they will keep your bags aside if you want to go for a wonder. Reasonably priced I am shocked it isn't higher up on the ratings. You won't be disappointed if you stay here.

We planned an overnight stay in Nottingham during half term. We were using the railway for ease. I was travelling with two children for sightseeing.
The Bentinck was a great location. Easy few steps from the train station and not very far from all the attractions.
Before our check in we asked to leave our bags so we were free to enjoy the sights. The staff were glad to stow them away for us.
Our check in was easy enough. The bar and restaurant area was beautifully decorated! We were shown to our room which was fresh, bright and clean. It had all we needed for our stay. TV, hair dryer, tea/ coffee facilities. Our bathroom had all the toiletries you’d need for a stay.
We went out in the evening for dinner and arrived back tired. We all unfortunately had a broken nights sleep. This was due to the wooden windows letting in a lot of cold air. The heating was on low but we find it was chilly. We used the extra blanket supplied but this didn’t really help. However, this could not have been foreseen as the weather turned very windy over night contributing to the draught.
We had our showers (warmed up) and headed down for breakfast. The continental breakfast was a good selection of breads, cereals, meat and cheese. I had a lovely coffee to go with it.
We checked out and kindly our bags were stored away again for us until our train in the afternoon. This gave us the rest of the day for sightseeing.
We enjoyed our little getaway and would thoroughly recommend a stay. Great staff and brilliant location.

This hotel has a very central location, almost on top of Nottingham station, so if you have an early train or you are there for the night life, the location appears to be good.
If you are travelling to Nottingham, by car, not only does the hotel not have any parking, but the hotel is not reachable by road due to bus only zones in the very centre of the city.
Parking is therefore limited to an NCP over the bus station or another car park near the railway station at high overnight cost.
The rooms appear to be a reasonable size, but it was clear that the hotel had not had a refit for a number of years. The range did not have ensuite bathrooms, which is a fairly basic requirement when travelling with your family instead several rooms shared a toilet and shower.
The floor tiles were actually coming loose in the shower and grouting has not been completed properly. The walls of the shower were dirty. The shower door was loose and would not move easily.
The biggest problem at this hotel is the noise from the street. As you could see from the exterior pictures, the hotel is old-fashioned in appearance that has sash windows which do not shut out any noise from the street.
Unfortunately, I found myself woken several times during the night from about 2 am and then completely unable to sleep from 5 am on a Sunday morning, when the nearby Tesco express had a food delivery from a truck which had a generator running. When I told the staff that I had not slept well , they immediately finished my sentence and said it must be due to the noise. They did not attempt to put it right.
There was a continental breakfast which was okay. As soon as food coverings were removed, it was clear that flies were a problem in the breakfast room.
I will not consider this hotel in the future.

I booked this hotel last minute as I was working in Nottingham for a couple of days and this hotel was right next to work and the train station. I booked a double room, and I didn't expect to get the biggest room in the hotel to myself. The room was clean, had a huge comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, bathroom with a shower, sofa, and fold out double bed. A continental breakfast was included, which included a range of pastries, fruit, cereals, toast, and juice. A cooked breakfast was also available for an additional cost. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in and out were easy. My only negative about this hotel was that there were a lot of stairs and no lift, although the member staff did carry my suitcase Tony room on the top floor. I would therefore say that this hotel wouldn't be good for anyone with mobility issues or that would struggle with stairs. Apart from this, I enjoyed my stay and would definitely book again.

Recently stayed here for the 1st time due to having a night away and it being close to amenities and next to the train station. We checked in and the staff were lovely and polite. Our room was lovely and clean with an en-suit and a good selection of drinks the pillow was a little hard but I'm not complaining as I still had a good nites sleep. We came down for breakfast and choose to pay additional cost for a full english which was cooked perfectly the staff were lovely attentive and polite. It does have a few stairs to climb to certain rooms so this could be a disadvantage to some but it didn't bother us we will definitely stay here again in the future.

I stepped off the train and straight into the Bentinck. The staff were very friendly, sharing lots of tips for places to visit (tourism and food/drinks etc). The room was clean and tidy and I appreciated the cleaning team coming in each day to top up towels etc. They do a lovely continental breakfast too!
The one thing I would recommend is adding hand soap in the bathroom, it was a but strange having to climb in the shower to get body wash to clean my hands!
I will definitely recommend this place to others and hope to return one day.

The friendly and helpful staff made this overnight stay a good experience. I left my car in the Station Car Park, lots of room in this safe multistory, and under ten pounds for overnight parking.
There was no bar or dining in the hotel midweek, the staff left at five or six pm. However the quiet hotel felt secure, with modern room locks and CCTV around the staircase.
The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. However the TV remote had flat batteries, and I didn't like the automatic light/fan in the en suite. It switched on when I didn't want it too (a quick visit at 4AM) and switched off when I did (having a shower at 9AM). A minor problem though. There was some street noise, but nothing excessive for a city centre location. The building site next door started up soon after 7am, and that was a bit annoying. Nottingham is FULL of building sites at the moment, so this would be difficult to avoid.
If I visit the area again, I will go back to this hotel.

I've stayed at the Bentinck Hotel in the past, when visiting for football or cricket. That's how I discovered its bar, which is open to the public. This is a review of just the bar.
There's no shortage of places to drink a sit-down coffee in and around Nottingham station. But, in my opinion, the Bentick Hotel's bar is far the most relaxing.
It's also surely the least well known, as it's very hidden. On the corner of Carrington Street and Station Street opposite the northern entrance to the station are a Starbucks and a Tesco Express. Look closely and there's a doorway between them. Go through it, up a narrow staircase, turn left, and you're in the hotel bar. You just stepped into another world.
Fancy ceilings, chandeliers, arty bric-à-brac, wooden tables, marble tables, upright chairs, armchairs, all embraced by big corner windows. Time stands still. A peaceful vibe hangs in the air.
I like to sit and gaze down at the cinematic spectacle around the station entrance opposite. People rushing for their train or emerging tired from their journey; the Big Issue seller valiantly trying to sell; the mellow terracotta peachiness of the station architecture.
The bar itself is small and exquisite. They sell alcohol; but I drink coffee here. A good, hot Americano, milk on the side. Whether I'm leaving or arriving in Nottingham, this is my Ground Zen.
Bentinck Hotel's bar is for me the definition of a hidden gem. Close to the madding crowd but hovering above it almost in a dimension of its own.

Spent a very lovely few hours here today having Afternoon Tea with friends. The setting of the room is wonderful , quaint, warm and welcoming. The afternoon tea is very good with as much tea and coffee as wanted. The Hotel is situated right beside the train station with the nearest car park a few minutes walk away at The Broad Marsh. The staff working today were friendly and courteous. This place is a little gem of a find and myself and friends will 100% return again for either a Brunch or another Afternoon Tea Treat.

Sorry, Darren, you will have to ask the hotel that question.
You park in the station/tram car park
Take your ticket and go to station help desk and they wilk transfer it to a weekly pass which is much cheaper
