I cannot agree with the terrible reviews this hotel has had, we had a 1 night stay with dinner and breakfast, room was fabulous food was excellent and staff extremely helpful and friendly, would most definitely stay here again.
I like country house hotels as opposed to city centre chains. I was therefore surprised to find this one reasonably close to the city centre. It's big and, on the night I was there, pretty quiet although having read previous reviews it can be somewhat...More
Having used Colwick Hall for our annual Christmas party for a number of years, we decided to hire it for a summer party this year. From the outset it was easy to communicate our needs to the venue and the contact there responded quickly and...More
We held a Summer Ball in the marquee just to the side of the main hotel (June 2017) and we had a great time. The service was great, food was terrific and 140 of us had a wonderful evening. Perfect setting near the lake and...More

Hi. I have not stayed in this room but I have a few comments for you which may be of help.
Last October I stayed in a superior room which was lovely - hence the good review. Last week I stayed the night in an executive room on the top floor and was a bit disappointed as the ceilings were very low in the bedroom and bathroom I was constantly worried about hitting my head and did so on one occasion. I would avoid rooms on the top floor and go for a superior room if you can. I thought the superior room was lovely but the executive room was nothing out of the ordinary and was overpriced if you had not got a reduced rate. Unless it is a superior room, I would imagine room 102 is somewhere between these two experiences. Sorry I cannot be more help.

Hi. The standard afternoon tea was a sheer delight but I think the more expensive one has a different more expensive menu which includes roast beef and smoked salmon etc. and of course the Champagne. I would imagine the cakes will be better too. There is nothing wrong with the standard menu but the luxury one looked even better. I was driving so could not drink. My ideal would have been the luxury one without the champagne but that was not an option as I was not prepared to pay the extra cost. Either would make a lovely present for an adventurous eater and someone who likes spices. A few of the cakes contained spice. I would imagine both menus are somewhere on the Colwick Hall Hotel website. Reception have a copy of the menu which I would have liked to have seen before my meal not the following morning as I was not sure what I was eating when it came to the speciality chutney. Hope this helps.
