Detailed Reviews
Our third visit and I continue to be impressed.
We visited on 27 December 2022 as a party of six adults and two youngsters and a cockapoo. The rear room proved to be an ideal location as it allowed us to sit together comfortably in relative seclusion. We were made extremely welcome, the food was up to it's usual hight standards and the service outstanding.
I loved the real ale, the pies were a delight, I had no room for desert but those in the group who had 'room' devoured theres with evident enthusiasm.

Ours was Room 1 (of three rooms), which is the first one you will see when you go up the stairs from the pub. This meant that we would get some noise from the dinner crowd but it was bearable, and the pub closes at 10, so the noise literally goes away by then. The room itself was comfortable and quite spacious, and amenities provided were great. There was also a pod espresso machine in the room. We took the half-board package (daily breakfast, dinner), which meant bed & breakfast, with a 50 pounds dinner credit. That credit will not cover one dinner (you will end up paying a difference), so we decided to just have dinner elsewhere on our second night there, however, both the breakfast and dinner were wonderful, and like other reviews, the pub does offer good food! Do note that parking can be an issue - like most other towns in the Cotswolds, parking was a challenge, and we could only park our car at the free public carpark 10 mins walk away most of the time.

+1
Had the best stay in The Angel. The staff were very welcoming and we got into our room at 2pm and got room 1. Other reviews say about the kitchen noise and smell but we didn’t experience that. The room is very quaint but comfortable and the bedding just smelled amazing!
We had dinner in the bar, just make sure you book as it gets busy. This was so delicious, we had the fish and chips and lamb shoulder. The vibe was so nice and really enjoyed our time here.
Parking is round the corner in the public car park and it wasn’t an issue and a good few spaces so wasn’t an issue.
Breakfast was great, real local food and the service was fab! Would come back in a heartbeat!

We booked town nights based good reviews on Instagram. The room (3) was really nice, large and spotless. However it was directly above the bar, so a bit noisy. TV is a bit of a joke and no bigger than an iPad situated up on the wall miles away from the bed. They need a decent TV size for sure!! Menu was limited, fish or burger and was very average, nothing like I’ve seen advertised on instagram!! Breakfast was good though, but considering we were staying there in one of only 3 rooms, the staff were not overly friendly and we really a bit anonymous.
So for the money per night, £120 per night nothing special. It wasn’t horrible but we won’t be rushing back there on our next visit to the Cotswolds.

We have had an absolutely superb stay at The Angel. The staff have been brilliant, helping us with a five-week old baby, his needs and having access to a fridge out of hours, with nothing whatsoever being too much trouble. We will definitely be staying here again.

It is very rare for me to review a restaurant for being good - you sort of expect that if you’re paying for a service, it should, at the very least, be good.
We visited the Angel on Easter Sunday for dinner. I am gluten intolerant and the staff couldn’t make have been more helpful. Indeed, the gluten free bread, so often like eating a plastic sponge, was quite simply the best GF bread I had ever had.
Starter of hummus was delightful. The burger and steak were excellent and to finish off, the rhubarb crumble was lovely.
Thanks to the staff at the Angel - well worth a trip just to eat with you.

Called in for coffee, the welcome was so warm and friendly. There is a lovely sheltered garden at the rear where we sat.
Proper old pub with good ales on tap too. The menu looks very nice and we would definitely eat here in the future

Really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful old pub right in the center of Burford. Delicious food (had the pie) Breakfast especially good. Room comfy, lots of space and spotlessly clean. Friendly staff.
We paid for dinner, bed & breakfast and presumed that meant we'd have deal/set menu as we were staying, but it just meant the extra you pay on the room cost is taken off the meal bill, so don't really get why there's a DB&B rate?
Overall, highly recommended - hopefully we'll be back!

We had an early dinner here as it was so popular it was the only time we could get. Lovely pub with a roaring fire and great food and great service. Portions were really big and we felt really relaxed. Highly recommend

Great food! We visited last Friday to meet up with friends none of us having been before. Half pints of prawns and soups to start with, followed by steak and ale pies, and the chicken....all absolutely delicious. Timing of service just right, not rushed, in fact we had the table all evening. The staff were brilliant, chatty and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend

No, off street parking is difficult. But there is a very big car park very close to the Angel which is free to park and about 5 minutes to walk.
