When the Bull opened in 1536, it was a coaching inn, a place for tired horses to recover and prepare themselves for the next long ride. The new Bull aspires to offer the same service to anyone on a journey who might need a moment to catch their breath.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay when we visited for my Birthday, the rooms and service lived up to expectations.

We had The Penthouse room, and it was spacious yet cosy, but also had a calm vibe to it.

We arrived a little earlier than expected as our plans were hampered by the great British weather, but our room was ready and the front desk was on hand to accommodate us and show us around. Our night's sleep was great and we couldn't hear any of the noise from the High Street due to the window set up. Bed was fantastic.

There is the pantry on the first floor which has cold drinks, tea/coffee and the occasional sweet treat to keep you going - a lovely touch!

The hotel offers no room service, and sometimes we like breakfast in bed rather than getting up earlier. However, it wasn't an issue for us on this occasion as breakfast is served downstairs until 11am anyway, and it's a really good offering & environment to get your day going.

Our only disappointment (and our own fault): we booked our room 3 weeks before staying, but didn't decide on which restaurant we wanted to eat at until about 10 days before. Unfortunately, Wild was fully booked as was the early sitting of HIRO. We were offered the 9:30pm sitting for HIRO, but we didn't fancy that. And were also offered a table in Horn, but we'd eaten in there a few times before when passing through Burford. Our advice would be to get your dinner reservations in early, or at least check at the time of booking your room.

That said, would absolutely love to stay here again and experience a different room as well.

My friends and I had a fantastic stay at BULL in December.

Location:
Bull is situated on the High Street in Burford. This historic gem stands proudly among other centuries-old buildings. The location is perfect for exploring the Cotswolds, with the iconic Minster and ancient walls a stone throw away.

Service/Hospitality:
The staff provide exceptional service. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth create an inviting atmosphere. Whatever the reason for your stay, they'll make you feel right at home.

Dining:
Bull boasts a variety of different dining venues. From a Japanese restaurant to an open grill. There is definitely something for every palate. Breakfast consisted of a wide variety, too.
I would also add that the pantry was a hidden treasure, offering both sweet and savoury treats!

Rooms:
The rooms are quietly elegant and offer a blend of historic charm and modern amenities. The beds were of a high standard and extremely comfortable. A good night sleep was had.

Overall, we had a stunning stay at Bull and would highly recommend it.

It isn't just a place to stay, it's an experience.

We had been recommended to stay here by some friends who had been for dinner and said that the restaurants were worth a visit in themselves. We decided to stay here too rather than just go for dinner as we were told they had four restaurants...

When we got to the room we were beyond impressed. The giant bathtub, the comfy bed, and immaculate staff made it all feel really special! The welcome Negroni in our room was a stylish touch too - It really set the tone for a place full of incredible art.

If you stay here definitely eat at Hiro and Wild. Once in a lifetime experiences that I've not come across elsewhere.

I never usually write reviews but couldn’t not for The Bull. In my eyes it should be 5* for the quality, experience, food and ambience .
I took my mum for the night and we had an incredible time. Instantly felt relaxed when we walked in and like we were at home.
They have a ‘trough’ which is an unlimited 24 hour snack bar with so many delicious snacks and healthy ones too. When we arrived from London we made sandwiches here and the bread and food was so fresh and all local. I was so surprised it was all included, never experienced that at a hotel before!

The rooms are insane. I stayed in the standard cosy and my mum was in the junior suite. I think it was really good value for money and actually quite a bargain tbh! For the quality and standard of everything you get in the room, you’d expect to pay a lot more.

If you are a fan of art, then you will be in awe. There’s just a casual original Banksy in the entrance, basquit, Bella Freud and more. It’s so subtly blended in, it feels like you’re at your best friends cosy but beautiful house. You feel so at home

The night we arrived they also had a choir at the local chapel. We joined about 10 other people both local and hotel guests and had singing / choir lessons. It was really magical. Again, an offering I’ve never experienced from a hotel and truly so memorable.

The staff were so friendly and knowledgable and gave us a tour and told us about all the history as it’s quite a new hotel. There’s also loads of beautiful walks nearby which they told us about.

Food musts- the smash burger - OMG and the flat bread 🤤

I’ve already booked to come back soon, it was that nice! Excited to come back and use the snooker room! Thank you to the bull for making us feel so at home and such a great stay. I hope lots of people get to experience what we did!

My recent visit to Bull Burford was a delightful experience. Honestly I would go as far as saying it’s my new favourite hotel. From our warm welcome by Camilla on reception to the Bulls original architecture to the interior design and art to the dining options, everything about Bull exudes a unique charm that sets it apart.

The rooms are beautifully designed. We stayed in The Market Room and it was so comfortable and sheek and had the most stunning bathroom. The harmonica set is a brilliant touch!! The attention to detail around the hotel and the overall quality of the rest of the accommodation is equally impressive.

Dining at Wild, the hotel’s restaurant, was probably the standout aspect of my stay. The food was fantastic, featuring innovative dishes that highlighted local ingredients, all served in a cozy yet elegant and theatrical setting with 8 other guests. Chef Callum was so knowledgeable about all the dishes and exuded such passion in his work. It’s a great example of fine dining without pretension.

The General Manager Rebecca is lovely and went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and taken care of at all times.

This hotel truly embodies the essence of what new wave hospitality should be. We only stayed for one night and it wasn’t enough. As such, we’ve already booked our return visit and cannot wait!

Last night we enjoyed a fabulous meal in the Bull’s HORN restaurant. What a wonderful place, a real gem in the Cotswolds. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, the ambience and the food. All first class. The front of house, bar and waiting staff were all attentive and friendly and never over fussy. We ate three courses, all of them excellent. Starters included a chicken terrine and trout. Yummy. For mains, we opted for the steak cooked medium rare. It was perfect. My cod dish was also divine. To accompany we went for a portion of triple cooked chips and crispy cabbage between us. All delicious and more than enough to share. We followed this with a pannacotta with a pepper brittle and a half baked cooked with vanilla ice cream. Our dog Peggy was also made to feel very welcome. This is a first class establishment and we will be back. Next time it will be to stay in one of the hotel’s dog friendly bedrooms. Big shout out to Josh for sorting us out with a lift when we were let down by our taxi firm.

So glad I decided to stay here! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with our room—it was cozy and stylish. The hotel provided us with maps featuring gorgeous walking trails, including one through a stunning valley, along with other helpful recommendations for things to do in Burford.

What really set the place apart were the thoughful, quirky details: a pantry with baked goods restocked daily, chess boards in every corner, coffee table books and classic fiction on all the shelves. Also the place houses some incredible art, we constantly found ourselves wandering over to look at things.

The food was also great, with a range of breakfast options to suit all dietary needs, which was great for me. Our dinner at Hiro was one of the most memorable meals I've had in years. I can't wait to return. Thanks for the fantastic weekend!

My wife and I stayed here earlier this month and my goodness what a place. It is a gem in the heart of the Cotswolds. The attention to detail of the refurbishment is second to none.

From the minute we arrived, Amy the receptionist made us feel so welcome and took us on a tour of the astounding building. It is a 15th century grade II listed coaching Inn and retains many of the original features. The art adorning the walls is a works harmoniously against the original features, it was a joy to see!

We ate in Horn, the food and service was perfect. I wish we’d stayed more than one night and will be coming back in July.

We had a lunch at the Bull today and it was exceptional in every way. On arrival we were greeted by Lyndsey who was so friendly and welcoming we decided we wanted to eat here before even looking at the menu. The food was delicious and on Lyndseys recommendation we both had the Mushroom Wellington which came with honey roased vegetables. We followed this with Panna Cotta and Sticky Toffee Pudding. The service from Lyndsey was faultless and she went out of her way to make sure our experience of the Bull was a positive one. A really nice touch was that the chef took the trouble to write out the recipe for the Mushroom Wellington but I am under no illusion that mine will come anywhere close to what we ate today. My mum and I had a lunch to remember and we look forward to a return visit really soon - THANK YOU !!

From start to finish, our time at Bull was just superb. We arrived to genuine & friendly staff, who instantly made us feel welcome on Check-in. Our room was amazing, and the artwork throughout is a rather sensational collection. The communal pantry was an absolute treat, with sweets & ice cream there whenever you fancied (every hotel should have one). Very comfy bed & lovely atmosphere throughout making you feel instantly zen.

Our dinner and drinks after at the bar was gorgeous. I had the biggest Oyster I've ever had, service was brilliant & we will definitely be returning!
