Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed here for just one night for our wedding anniversary. It is a beautiful, old hotel that has been newly renovated. Our room was large with a huge king size bed and the bathroom was stunning with a roll top bath and very powerful rainfall shower within it. There was an Illy coffee machine in the room and tea making facilities. Breakfast was included in the room rate and you could choose anything off the menu. This included granola, pancakes with berries, eggs benedict/florentine/royal, sourdough with smashed avocado, full english. What we had was very good. The staff are all lovely and very accommodating, however service was very slow at breakfast. We didn’t park the car at the hotel car park as it was an extra £20 for the night and off site, we chose to park it in a car park up the road for £10. With quite an expensive room rate I think parking should either be included or at least a bit cheaper. Our room had a partial view of the river (see photo) and the hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Henley, we would definitely stay here again.

Old meets new at this beautiful Hotel. The Relais at Henley had only been open for a couple of weeks when we arrived. After a huge renovation project to hotel is almost finished. The hotel had a lovely, calm and welcoming feel.
The location of the hotel is just perfect. You are right in the middle of everything. We had views of the river Thames and Henley Bridge. Access to local restaurants and local amenities are just a short walk away.
The staff were absolutely amazing in ensuring our trip was as enjoyable as possible.
Before we arrived I received a call from staff, to ask if there was anything they could do to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
From the moment we walked through the door of the hotel Vanessa greeted us. She took us to our room. She explained the history of our room, as we were lucky enough to stay in the room that previous royalty had slept in years ago.
Vanessa also gave us a tour of the hotel. It was lovely to see her passion and love of where she works.
We were constantly look after by all staff including Leanne, who all were trying to ensure we had the best stay possible.
The hotel is a very old building. Our room was a comfortable size. We chose a room with a four poster bed to continue the feel of the history of the room.
All decor was fresh and beautifully chosen.
Our view was lovely with our two windowed room. The bathroom was also stunning with fluffy towels, and mini extras of toiletries you may need.
I loved that our stay felt very personal to us, with all the added extra personal touches, during bedtime turndown and a welcome message from the manager.
Breakfast in the Clipper restaurant was delicious. A perfect menu of choices. The restaurant is bright and comfortable.
I cannot recommended this Hotel enough. My husband and I had a lovely stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. If you want a feel of Henley and love a little bit of history, this is the place to stay. Thank you Relais of Henley.

From the moment we arrived to leaving the staff were first class all with smiles on their faces and nothing too much trouble…even walking over the bridge to guide us to the car park!!! The room was great with a view over the Thames and to come back at night to find the curtains drawn and bed turned down with a chocolate each was very nice. Breakfast was good with a good choice. We only stayed one night but have already said we will back soon for a little longer .

An elegant boutique hotel in the perfect location.
Attentive staff
Lovely bedroom and a Five Star bathroom. I’m from the bathroom industry, so I always comment on a bathing space and this gets top marks.

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful hotel. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and the lovely receptionist carried all of our bags to our room - single handed! She also kindly escorted us to the car park and was very helpful with the information she gave on the local area. The room was lovely and the quality of the fixtures and fittings was everything we expected. At breakfast the service was friendly and very efficient. There was so much choice on the breakfast menu that we struggled to choose! The three of us chose different dishes and they were all presented well and tasted yummy. The handwritten note in the bedroom was a nice touch - especially for our 8 year old who was amazed that you knew her name! We just lacked a dressing table mirror in the bedroom so that hair can be dried and straightened away from the bathroom. Also, perhaps a biscuit on the refreshment tray to keep the young one fed and happy before dinner could be something to improve on. We appreciated the turn down service and the chocolates at bedtime though! A wonderful experience, we will definitely return!

Two nights stay for a birthday treat ........the birthday booking earned an unexpected room upgrade. All areas of the hotel are immaculate and tastefully decorated.
The rom was comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was small but well equipped and spotless.
Sleep quality was good. The room was very quiet.
The restaurant was very good in both food and service but be warned.........the hotel does not provide any food service after 1700 on Sundays. (But there is an excellent Italian restaurant just on the opposite side of the street)
The hotel has no car park but private parking is available 200 yards away for a small(ish) fee.
The strength of this hotel lies in its staff. I can think of no hotel I have been to (except very expensive 5* hotels in the Far East) that matches Le Relais for a genuine effort to help and to make guests welcome.
I recommend this hotel without hesitation

Very poor, extremely disappointing. For a discounted £375 a night you expect to be able to park close to the hotel, have the restaurant open & more than one towel in the bedroom. Great location so plenty of options outside the premises….good job

Fantastic place to stay. My wife booked this hotel for my 50th birthday as a surprise and she couldn’t have done better.
From the moment we arrived to be greeted by the wonderful lady on reception who explained that the hotel had upgraded us to a river view room. On entering the room we were amazed to see the trouble the hotel had gone to, they had gone out and bought me some beer and left a plate of cakes and fruit for us.
The room was huge and everything in it was top class from the deep carpet to the quality sheets, towels, soaps, shampoo etc. The room was spotlessly clean.
It’s a beautiful hotel to stay in, with a stunning residents lounge, tea room and bar.
Breakfast was a real delight.
All the staff who work there need extra praise, very friendly, polite, efficient and provide a great experience for the guests.

From the incredibly warm welcome we were given on arrival, I would say we received the best customer service experienced for a long time!
EVERY member of staff went out of their way to ask how we were and if we needed anything more. If they keep up this attention to detail, this hotel will go from strength to strength.
The premises are spotless and decorated to an extremely high standard.
We had a comfort break after our journey with a super coffee from the deli part of the hotel before having a wander round Henley.
Arriving back at the hotel rather late for lunch at 3pm, the hotel staff assured us this would be no trouble at all. The menu is varied and the steak we chose was superbly cooked and very reasonably priced.
Staying at this hotel was worth every penny and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Stayed here over the weekend. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room (205) was immaculate and great size. Bed large and comfortable. Room was river facing and there was no interruptions from outside noise. Ensuite very clean and shower pressure brilliant. Personal touches also appreciated. Breakfast was great (full English) and service second to none. I would thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel.
Location also handy for walks along the Thames or a stroll around the town. Everything is in walking distance. Parking (£20 per night) is also available - but remember to tell hotel prior to arrival as reservation required.
