Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming hotel, and I must say, it was lovely. The room is very clean and it had a spacious bed with lots of pillows. The front desk staff were lovely and super helpful. It also comes with continental breakfast with filter coffee and tea. In summary, this hotel room was very comfy. I left with a sense of gratitude and a promise to return. If you’re looking for a memorable stay, you can consider this hotel.

Hotel's Favourite
The hotel is located in a quiet residential area of Oxford, but within a 15 minute walk of the centre. The availability of a car park was a huge bonus. We stayed in a deluxe room - no 112 which had a super king sized bed and facilities to make drinks and microwave food. We had a cooked breakfast and the eggs were always prepared beautifully. There was a huge choice of food too. The staff both in the hotel and cafe are a real credit to the hotel. They were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble

A nice alternative to city center hotels just 10 min. easy walking distance along the river. Good room, nice food, nice staff and parking. Easy booking and check out too. A seamless trip to Oxford without hustling for parking and walking along the sidewalk with suitcases to get to your hotel.

We had a lovely stay at the Ethos and will definitely return, staff were all very friendly. Perfect place to stay with our dog, we had a room that went straight out onto the street and was self contained.

Well-located for relatively easy walk into city centre (short bus ride if not up to walking). Inclusive parking a bonus. Excellent breakfast. Samira was very welcoming and helpful. Option to eat in for discounted evening meal.

We were greeted by a couple of staff where no request was to much trouble. Would recommend for location and value Close to the river and ideal for boat trips when running Plenty of buses to get all over the city. We did the sightseeing bus to check what to visit as so much to take in

Great location close to the centre of town. Friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfortable although being in the basement was cold without aircon left on. Tasty breakfast in comfortable lounge bar area.

We were very well looked after by Samira in the Caffe Ethos which also doubled as the breakfast room. The breakfast and the Italian meal we had were excellent. The hotel is quite well placed being about a 15 min walk to the city centre. As it is in a residential area, there are no shops or other restauarants very near by. The hotel is a bit quirky being in a number of converted houses and, when we were there, the conversion work was still going on. The room was large and clean with a nice bathroom. The stair carpet up to the room was very dirty which gave a poor first imptression.

We had a Pizza and Prosecco voucher as a treat for Christmas and it did not disappoint. The pizzas are some of the best we have had and the service was really good. We are not sure of the ladies name who was serving us but she was so welcoming, friendly and lovely, her service was really good. It had a lovely atmosphere in there and it was a pleasant and quiet early evening. We would definitely visit again and are tempted by the afternoon tea one day.

We had a great stay at Ethos. The staff were ALL friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Great location for walking into Oxford. The cafe served great breakfast and also a nice place for a drink and snacks after a busy day in Oxford. We have a double, double room for a family of 4 (2 kids 7&10) and it was a good size for us all. Definitely recommend including parking at the hotel
