Really wonderful food. We've been three times in the past six months because we liked it so much. My personal favorite was the gnocchi with the truffles and the perfectly cooked egg: warm, rich but not overwhelming, and even a bit subtle. The wine list is good, if not enormous, and there are some surprising finds at reasonable prices. It's...

We stayed 5 nights at the Talkhouse, which was close to our friends in a village called Stanton St John. This is an historic Pub and Inn about 10 minutes from the Oxford City Center. The Pub is just charming, with good food and excellent libations of all sorts. It has 4 rooms for rent, and they're clean and neat...

I had a bad experience here on family visit 2 yeas ago, however I found out it had changed hands so took the risk. My family and I came for Sunday lunch and it was simply awful. The food was terrible and although the service was fairly friendly they were completely inefficient. We ordered 4 roasts, all of which were...

Treated family to dinner while visiting them in my home village of Wheatley. Lovely decor but disappointing food and way overpriced. I had viewed their menu online which was obviously out of date as it was not the one we were given. We ordered olives which came with dipping bread. The dip was just oil with a tiny drop of...

Though the talkhouse has rooms, we went soely for lunch and will certainly be back. The inside is surprisingly large with numerous booths and side rooms, so you don't feel you're elbow-to-elbow with other diners. We were swiftly shown to a table, drinks order taken and I can't fault the service, attentive but not pestering. The food was the highlight...

I was treated to dinner for my birthday on Saturday (24th). This was the 3rd visit to this pub as we were impressed with the first two visits, the 2nd visit one of the staff members (Sophie) remembered us, which was lovely. My partner had requested flowers & champagne for the night, but they do not provide either but Sophie...

Not at all as expected from the description on their web site. Food was bland and flavourless, not a hint of the promised truffle in the gnocchi. Completely underwhelmed by the serving staff, and at the end a discretionary 10%service charge for tables of 4 or more!!

We popped in for Lunch briefly on our way through and the atmosphere and service was very good and the Fish and Chips was of a very high standard indeed and a large portion. However the menu was rather expensive, but we thought in overall it looked as though it was worth the price.

this is a pub about 2.5 miles from the headington park and ride. It is right in the country on a quite road. Food was excellent and reasonable value. I had pigeon salad, steak and cheese. All very good and the cheese was just right. Gooey and a decent selection of biscuits, Apple and quince jelly. The chips were some...

We stopped off for lunch here on the way to the Cotswolds and were not disappointed. The food is delicious, staff efficient and friendly and it's a wonderful old building. We will definitely go back for a weekend some time as they have rooms too.
