Just spent the weekend in Oxford at the wonderful Old Parsonage. We booked the Bicester Experience Package, which was a luxurious blast, and had dinner at The Quod, a sister restaurant. The hotel is very special and in a brilliant location. If you are looking for a special, special treat, look no further. The Old Parsonage is divine!

Our daughter will be starting at Oxford University soon, so we decided to treat her to an overnight stay in the city to celebrate her achievement.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were impressed to find that a parking space had been reserved for us by name in the car park. We weren't expecting our rooms to be ready as we arrived at noon, but were delighted to find we were able to get in straight away.

We received a very warm welcome from Grace Du Feu who did our check-in. We told her the reason for our stay and shortly after we went to our rooms, she came up with a gorgeous plate of complimentary pastries for our daughter with 'Congratulations' etched in chocolate on the plate.
Our daughter was thrilled with this. It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture.

To get to the room we passed through the restaurant decorated with beautiful works of contemporary and historical art.

The rooms themselves are sublime. Tastefully decorated, super-comfortable beds with luxurious linen and high end bath products in the generously sized bathroom Everything was spotlessly clean. Pleasing little touches from the generous bowl of summer fruits, flowers and books on the bedsides really reflect the importance placed on guest satisfaction.

The room was very peaceful and had really efficient air conditioning (unusual for many UK hotels).

We had breakfast served in our room. All fresh and delicious.

In my opinion this is an outstanding hotel. We will most definitely be returning guests.

We popped in this morning for a quick coffee and hot chocolate. We were greeted by friendly and polite staff who welcomed us and seated us by the roaring log fire. We were immediately given menus and a waitress was already pouring us water as we sat. Our coffee and hot chocolates arrived soon after and with some complimentary delicious homemade biscuits cut into small slices. The biscuits were amazing and all our hot drinks delicious. Amazing quality for prices you'd pay in any other cafe or restaurant. My daughter spilt her hot chocolate and staff were there instantly mopping up and then gave her a replacement. A very happy relaxing experience in beautiful surroundings with friendly staff. Thank you. We will be back!

The Old Parsonage is a really lovely hotel. Relatively close to the centre of Oxford, so easy walking distance. Very pretty and a fabulous mix of tradition and modern luxury.

We had a superior deluxe room which whilst spotless and one of the larger rooms (according to the fire exit floor plan), it was jolly expensive for a view over the car park and without even breakfast included.

They did make some efforts with nice touches such as a hand-written card and cakes for one of our birthdays. There was £20 off dinner as we booked direct with the hotel.

The room was quiet, dark enough and we benefitted from the reserved parking which the hotel offered when they rang in advance to confirm our booking.

They also went out of their way to find a particular item that often comes as standard in hotels and when they found they didn’t have any they provided a voucher off cocktails.

We ate there one evening and really enjoyed the food.

Would we stay there again? Possibly, but it wouldn’t be our first choice.

Visited just last week as a treat for my 50th Birthday and had a really good time.

My wife had booked everything, so it was all a surprise to me, and I loved the whole stay. We were put in the Randolph suite on the top floor which was lovely, really spacious room with everything we needed, even a bottle of wine and little cakes to acknowledge my birthday. Receptionists were welcoming and even took our luggage to the room.

Breakfasts were all superb, we took turns over four mornings with the full English, scrambled and poached eggs, omelette, granola, porridge and also tried the smoothies, everything was spot on. ( I even had a couple more cakes with a candle in on my actual Birthday morning ) All the staff and servers at breakfast were faultless.

The room itself was kept spotlessly clean, everything was replaced or topped up as required, on one occasion I'm sure that housekeeping had cleaned the shower and replaced the towels within the evening turn down service, which is surely above and beyond.

All in all, I'm very glad to have stayed and didn't really want to leave!

The only tiny negative I have is the car park is a little tight, if you arrive when the restaurant already full, you might struggle, but that's it, that's all I have in terms of a moan, and in fact the problem is probably due to other people driving unnecessarily large cars rather than the size of the plot! 😊

So, finishing on a good note, thank you for a great stay, and the great service.

The staff and superior deluxe room we stayed in for two nights were superb. Reception, room service and house keeping are first class. However, we stayed here to celebrate a special birthday and organised a private luncheon in the Pike Room. The waiter informed us that it was his first day here and he was pleasant, however we felt let down by this on such a special occasion. Starters arrived without cutlery, drinks took ages to arrive and it felt chaotic. The food also was extremely lacklustre with poor presentation, the game terrine and puddings were very dry. We chose the premium menu to ensure everything would be perfect but unfortunately we were very disappointed. To add insult to injury, we were overcharged by £100 which we had to sort out at check out. We would have discussed our experience then, but we were not even asked if we enjoyed our stay and private lunch. The hotel is beautiful but the private dining ruined an important family celebration.

The Old Parsonage is a beautiful building and the initial impression is very positive. The beautiful fireplace in the reception area adds to the sense of warmth and welcome. The reception staff and courteous and helpful.

The rooms are excellent with everything you could need for a comfortable stay.

The price has increased significantly since our last visit and the high cost of staying at the hotel means that I expected everything to be pretty near perfect, to warrant the high price tag. Sadly the food was rather disappointing. The evening meal was average but certainly not great. The breakfast was the biggest let down. The only toast available is sour dough, toasted to a crisp. When I asked for an alternative, either regular toast or an English muffin, which was on the menu, I was told by different staff members that this was not possible because: 'there was a technical problem with the kitchen' 'it would cost me extra' and 'it wasn't available'. There is no ketchup with breakfast and I was given one Americano coffee and not offered a top up.

We, a married elderly couple, found this hotel excessively overpriced. The lowest rate they offered was £170.- for what they call a double room. No breakfast included, immediate debit, no refund in case of cancellation. The room no. 9 was so small that to reach the cupboard I had to push the chair of a narrow desk as far as possible under the desk. The 'double' bed was so narrow that it could barely support two people, and we are not fat! Once i nearly fell off one side when my wife turned over to my side.
There is more, however. On their webpage they offer for booking for January or February a 15 percent discount on certain dates by entering a promo code. It was not possible to enter that promo-code during online booking, nor for any other date during that period as I tested myself. We had booked one night 2/3. January 2020. When during registration I insisted to avail myself of the discount offered they simply said that the booking rate already included the discount! So either they did not tell the truth or the promo code was nothing more than a gimmick.
My advice: Stay away from that hotel!! There are better and cheaper ones in Oxford.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at the Old Parsonage Hotel. We can see you booked on our advance purchase rate which already includes a 15% discount, and is fully prepayable and non-refundable. Our best available rates have a 48 hours cancellation policy which is a more flexible offering and does not require prepayment. The January offer you have mentioned is the exact same rate as the advance purchase which is 15% off, but with a flexible cancellation of 48 hours. This was only available on selected dates. We always encourage our guests to call us if they cannot view the offer online, as we are always happy look into this to ensure a preferential offering to best suit requirements. Room 9 is a Small Double Room, which is our smaller category available. We appreciate the fact that the room feel a bit cosy and compact during the winter, when our guests are not able to take full advantage of its lovely terrace onto the Summer Garden. I am sorry that you left the Old Parsonage feeling so disappointed and would welcome the opportunity to make amends on a future stay. Please do get in touch if I can be of any further assistance. Kindest regards, Camille – Front Office Manager

Cant say enough good things about this hotel/resturant. The hotel is decorated impeccably and is extremely clean. Rooms cater for your every need. (its the little things like having proper milk in the room for your tea/coffee, and having real filter coffee instead of a plastic pouch of nescaf that tastle like its been there since the middle ages.) all the decor in the room is incredibly high quality and very clean. The food in the resturant is fantastic and last but by no means least. The staff can not do enough for you, from reseption right through the whole hotel to the house maids. And all greeted us with a friendly and very helpful air about them.
This hotel isnt a budget option infact thought at time of booking was very expensive, but it was worth every penny. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The level of service at The Old Parsonage is absolutely superb. The staff were charming and could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable, particularly the young ladies in reception. It was also great to have a complimentary turn-down service - such a long time since I experienced that!! The hotel itself is very well equipped, with all fixtures and fittings of the highest quality, and of course just a short walk into the centre of Oxford. We found the restaurant slightly disappointing, given the extremely high level of everything else but overall I would highly recommend The Old Parsonage for a fantastic stay.
