I'm probably being a bit mean with a 2 star rating, but sleep deprivation does that to me! I've just spent the night in a second floor room overlooking the main road and junction. Drunken students frolicking until /am layered on all night traffic noise and a bed that reminded me of the one I slept on at my grandmother's... More

We stayed one night and found the Mercure comfortable, with very helpful staff. The lounge and bar area is attractive and comfortable. We had a bed and breakfast rate which was reasonable for the location. Room was a bit small for the size of the comfortable king size bed and in summer the noisy extraction system outside the window could... More

Dear Summerlok Thank you for your kind review, gtreatly appreciated and such a morale boost to the team. Oxford is a beautiful city and fuill of history, the hotel being located in the centre with a recent refurbishment of its bedrooms and the introduction of Marco's New York Italian bistro. Spent 1 night at this hotel. (Classic),room only rate through booking.com £149. Staff were polite and professional. Excellent location. My room (210) was like a prison cell. Hardly any space around bed. Shower only, no bath. View of a vented roof and a brick wall. Food (room service) was bland and cold. Terrible value for money.

Dear Amanda A Thank you for your recent review, I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. The hotel is located in the city centre and was originally 4 townhouses in the original part of the city. The building is over 100 years and the structure does reduce the amount flexibility to enlarge bedrooms and hence a good... More

This is a renovated hotel in a 1900s building constructed in an older style to match surrounding buildings, well located in a side street off the High near Merton College. The building has therefore certain restrictions; I was on the third floor but the lift only goes up to the second, and although it is good to be on the... More

This is a very well-located hotel for exploring Oxford right on the High Street. My single room faced the Oxford University Examination Schools which is a very attractive golden hued building and lovely to look out on. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was a good size for a single and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge and... More

Fantastic location and considerable effort from the staff for your every wish. Rooms are comfortable and economical considering the location, entrance is a little understated but purposeful. Accessibility is awesome and arranged for a car service to pick me up from Heathrow.

We were delighted to get a room in the new wing. Very comfortable. Huge walk in shower and mirror that had a heated section to remain clear when rest of mirror steamed up. Nice touch. My wife and I stayed the night for my birthday. I was impressed with the Hotel and its location which was great. Our room was a good size and nicely decorated.
