Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed for 8 nights in this wonderfully cosy hotel. Room was very comfortable, breakfast was delicous, the whole stay was wonderful. Walking distance to Oxford and on the bus route is needed. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Free parking was a bonus. Would stay here again.

A family-run charming characterful boutique hotel on the fringe of Oxford's Summertown with all of its bustling restaurants and bars, it's a perfect location really and just a short bus ride from the city centre. I found the staff and family so helpful and friendly, accommodation extremely clean and comfortable with a very good shower. I was at the front of the hotel facing the busy-ish road but suffered no bothersome traffic noise, the insulated windows did a good job there. Excellent wide-ranging buffet breakfast with fresh fruit, Greek yoghurt, pastries, full English, everything you could want really! It is by far and away the nicest hotel I have stayed at around Oxford and, at least for my booking, seemed very reasonably priced. The private car park at the back of the hotel is quite large but sometimes got rather full, though not a problem for me as I am used to parking in tight spots. In all, highly recommended!

We arrived with friends for a weekend in Oxford taking in a concert. A warm welcome in the afternoon from the gent on reception, who explained the car parking situation and facilities. He also told us about an Artisan Market for Sunday morning within 5 minutes walk. Our room was quite small, but functional and clean. Bathroom and shower were excellent. Breakfast (at a small additional cost as booked through Booking.com) was excellent with lots of choice. Our only comment would be that it finishes a little early at 9:00 weekdays/Saturday and 9:30 Sunday. Very nice stay in a boutique hotel. Well situated for travel/walk into Oxford Centre. Service excellent and would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your kind words and feedback regarding breakfast. As we're a small, family-run business, it's quite the balancing act and timings are a little tight, but never say never to a later breakfast service in future! We look forward to welcoming you again. Kind regards, Sam & The Galaxie Team

What a quirky but really lovely place to stay. The beds are really comfortable. The bedroom isn’t large but has everything we needed. Storage, plenty of sockets. Good TV. Coffee and tea making facilities. There are sweets to help yourself to on the landing. Nice touch. Breakfast was very pleasant. My only criticism would be the breakfast times are very early for a relaxing stay. Car park is very tight to enter and small not always enough room. Other than that a very nice place and I would stay again.

This is one of the most friendly and helpful hotels I've ever stayed in. I was allowed to take a takeaway back to my room and they even had a plate and cutlery waiting for me when I came back with my food. My room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was lovely.

We have stayed at the Galaxie many times and again found the hotel to be excellent. I have limited mobility and they were really helpful and ensured we had a room on the ground floor with a walk in shower. The room was clean, modern and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent. We love the Galaxie as it is well positioned right by the bus stop to get one of the regular buses into the centre (it is walkable but too far for me). We also like being able to walk to restaurants in Summertown in the evening. Will definitely stay again soon.

I wouldn't rate this as a "4 star" hotel. I would also say, to me, it was not worth the £175 for one night with breakfast. Payment was requested on arrival. Unusual. Parts of the hotel looked tired. The bathroom in our room had recently been nicely re-fitted and the bed was comfortable, but the feel of the rest of the room's fittings and fixtures was quite basic. The breakfast was disappointing and dated in its offerings. Yes it is conveniently situated on a bus route into town and the on-site parking was important to us, but in all, average quality and expensive. Would I stay there again? As a one night stay to park and bus into Oxford, it's fine, but certainly not at £175.

This small hotel is actually a quirky home converted in hotel. Spacious rooms, clean and well connected to the city center with a bus stop just in front of the hotel. Nice breakfast available if you request it. Our room even had a fireplace in it!!

Terrible experience! They left a technician enter our room in our absence despite the “do not disturb sign”. We found that put by accident as we went to our room and it was wide open with our things messed up and money missing. I went to the reception and the manager with an attitude started shouting calling us problematic that we were not ok with what happened and he said that they knocked before entering, so for them do not disturb means enter after knocking obviously. He refused that anyone messed up with our belongings, even if Everything was fully exposed, carkeys, money that was stolen from someone, hotel guest or employ I can't know and a 1000 pound macbook. When I asked how do you refuse that someone took our money since Our room was open. The answer was “I just know “. We called the police to take over. Stay away from this place ,they don’t respect privacy and they don’t take responsibility. PS the room is full of dust
