Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed in Keble College with my 8 year old grandson last week and can't think of a better way to introduce a young man to life as a student in Oxford. We loved being surrounded by the walls of such a prestigious and ancient College. The room was spotless and the bathroom more than adequate compared to what the students would have once shared. We took breakfast at "high table" in their historic dining hall and imagined what it would be like to study there as the students, many of whom were sitting their exams filed in and quietly took their breakfast trays, surrounded by portraits of learned people that held the stories of so many years gone by. The location is perfect for exploring the Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum both of which are just across the road. It is an easy walk to the Broad and the other historic Colleges. We were unable to attend the Evensong on the Sunday night but all guests are welcome in Keble's beautiful chapel.
Value for money was excellent but what money couldn't buy was the unique experience of a taste of College life in Oxford.

Picking up an undercurrent of either hostility or unconscious bias in the customer service skills of a range of staff across the Keble College campus who I have had the misfortune to have to either ask directions, seek out supplies, host to my room. From all but slapping my hands and telling me off because I dared to take a few teabags from the dining hall for my room!! to telling me my door wouldn’t unlock because it was scared of me!! or the directions told that state ‘go underneath ‘the’ arch when 10 arches exist and then feeling like a nuisance asking for a bit more specificity!! hasn’t exactly made for the best lasting impressions of Keble College Oxford supporting and making the visitor experience a positive one. I won’t be back, I wouldn't recommend and no doubt this won’t feel like any kind of loss for those staff members concerned either… all such a shame……..

I made a booking to stay at Keble College a few months ago via their online system. Unfortunately for reasons outside of my control I had to cancel the booking - 48 hours before I was due to stay. I rang the College to cancel but I was informed I had to do cancel the booking online. When I went to do this I was informed that I would only be refunded approx. 25% of room rate which I found rather surprising and unlike any other hotel cancellation policy I have seen. I called the College back and according to them there is nothing that they could do about this as the bookings are made through a third party provider - SpeedyBookers.com - and outside their control entirely, which was supposedly clear on their website (and having looked again at the site it is in no way clear to me unless you look at the very bottom of the T&Cs). When I asked for a telephone number for SpeedyBookers I was told that they were not able to give this out and that I had to direct any queries to them via the "Any Questions" button on Keble's website. I found it extremely frustrating that when attempting to resolve an issue simply and quickly regarding payment of a booking no one at Keble was able to help me (despite having a dedicated Reservations Manager) and instead I am left to communicate via email rather than simple speak with someone. And furthermore that Keble are unwilling to assist the resolution of a problem regarding a booking at their College with their online reservations service provider. It would seem they are happy to take money but make it very difficult to claim it back when not service and good notice have been provided.

Can Trip Advisor and Keble College tell me what happened to the reviews from September 2007? Interestingly all of the bad geniune reviews have been removed, and only the good ones have been kept. Why hiding bad experience from people?

I was in Oxford for a conference a week before, and stayed at Mansfield College. I spent a week in Cardiff on another work assignment and returned to Oxford for a weekend of rest, relaxation and catching up with old friends. I decided to stay at Keble College instead, because of the good reviews here. I was not disappointed!

I have mild mobility difficulties (due to arthritic flares) and found it very trying lugging my heavy suitcase up and down three floors at Mansfield College, but at Keble, I requested for a room with a lift and was allocated one in the newer building. The folks at the Porters' Lodge were very kind and helpful, the room was spacious and overlooked the bicycle parking area, plenty of trees, birds chirping and I loved hearing the ringing bells! Not much noise from traffic. The little touches at Keble gave them the edge over the other college's lodgings. Clean, fluffy and quality towels, well considered toiletries - not just the usual shampoo, conditioner, bath gel/soap, but also body lotion too! The wifi worked well near the desk but lost connection when I took my laptop to the bed. I had to use my own long ethernet cable when in bed. A very small issue. The in-room coffee and tea provisions were also more ample, and though the breakfast wasn't as lavish, it was no less fulfilling and delicious.

Keble has a unique architecture which I personally love, the plethora of intricate details embedded in the interiors were fantastic to just gaze at! The dining hall is not very large but no less impressive - look up at the ceiling! Don't forget to visit the chapel too.

If ever I am back in Oxford, I will choose Keble to stay in again. Highly recommended for the budget traveler who wants to stay near the city centre in a beautiful environment and also wants some private creature comforts, decent disability access, no gravel to spoil your shoes or wheels of your suitcase, and without having to share the bathroom or loo with other travelers (who knows what filthy habits people can have?).

Keble college is one of the colleges in Oxford who offers B&B in summer period when the students are left for the holiday. We stayed in Keble College for three nights from 23-26 July. We were surprised about the great grounds inside the college. Keble College is well located in the city center of Oxford, but it is still tranquil, because there aren't many visitors who go to this College. Most tourists go to Christ church College or maybe New College. Keble College is as nice as those colleges.
We had a room in the modern Alcorn building. This was a simple room with bath room and a good bed and tea and coffee making facilities. A bit like a travelodge room, but that is good, because the room was very clean. There wasn't a tv, but we didn't need that anyway that stay. The breakfast was fantastic in the great dining hall. A real experience. We also had a very good dinner the first night, also very recommened when it is available. Overall I was very pleased with this stay in this college and I will surely come back when I am in Oxford.

It was really fantastic to stay inside the college and to be able to visit the chapel and hall and wander around the quads. We stayed in a room in the old part of the college which has been refurbished. While not luxurious it is not basic either. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good. Eating breakfast in the main hall was fabulous and very 'Harry Potter'. The price for a double room was high but well worth it.

We stayed one night at Keble College in Sept 2008. We have rated Keble 'neutral' as we had both positives and negatives during our stay. We had booked through university rooms and had requested a double room in the old section as we wanted the unique feel of staying in an old Oxford college. We booked many months in advance and on arrival we were placed in a modern room with absolutely no atmosphere. We were told there were no old rooms available however after pushing this further we were able to have two single rooms side by side (albeit for an additional fee that was supposedly because the modern room had to be cleaned even though we had only been in it for 10 minutes). We found the two single rooms in the Liddon Quad to be exactly how we had hoped, a true old college experience. The views overlooking the quad were wonderful and the rooms had all we needed and were spacious. Whilst the furnishings were simple they were sufficient. The shower was not enjoyable, the water alternating between cold and very hot. The chapel was glorious, the dining room stunning. The breakfast experience overall was great due to the atmosphere in the hall, however we found the food to be very salty. All in all we are glad for the experience but disappointed with our checking in experience. We would not recommend staying in the modern rooms if you are wanting any atmosphere. We also thought the price to be quite high and it was certainly not a cheap option. That said, the location was excellent, very close to the park and ride stop for Water Eaton, and also only a few metres from the hop on hop off bus. It was also convenient walking distance to a lovely Italian restaurant 'Gee's'.
