We were visiting the Christmas Lights Trail at Blenheim House late in the evening so decided to arrive early, have lunch and look round the village of Woodstock. The web showed Woodstock to be a traditional Cotswold country village with shedloads of charm and interesting architecture, which I like. Knowing we would be home late after the lights trail we...

At £100 for a family room, it is not a bad price at all, but it is extremely basic. We arrived just after 9, the pub was already closed, and there was parking available but nowhere reserved for guest staying so we had trouble fitting into the car park which wasn't ideal. After finding our way in, we met Keith,...

This Public House/boarding house is very pleasant, décor, service, cosy, warm and reasonable price. Food was served at lunchtime, however the Pub was closed in the evening with no food or bar service, (only to hotel residents) which seemed a little strange ? I would guess it was less than a mile to the actual front doors of Blenheim so...

We had spied the punchbowl earlier in the day and decided to return in the evening for dinner. The service was warm and friendly. Drinks bought to the table. Menu was homely and reasonably priced. Dinner was tasty and well cooked. 7.30pm on a Friday evening - one other table of diners.... very quiet and lacking in atmosphere but otherwise...

An Arkells pub old, cosy and comfortable with a high standard of food and service. We lunched on baguettes, huge and well cooked and with a nice choice of fillings accompanied by salad and crisps. Wine was sensible priced with a good choice. Service first class.

Stayed here for a night with my wife and mother in law after visiting the palace. Nothing bad to say about the place really. Tidy room. Nice breakfast. We ate here in the evening too. Food was good. Would stay again if in the area.

Easy booking, good parking (although it was a bit tight), friendly booking in process and shown to and around our room, excellent menu for an evening meal and a good English Breakfast (or continental if you feeling healthy) in the morning! The room was spotless clean, the beds very comfy, a well stocked tray of tea/coffee and full size kettle...

A short break in Woodstock mainly to research local family history. The Punchbowl website gives the impression that it is on the outskirts of Town whereas in reality it is slap bang in the middle of everything. We parked in the free car park and didn't move again till we left, everything is easily, and enjoyably walkable. The Punchbowl is a pub with...
