Will not return. Walls are paper thin so noise from neighbours kept me awake 1.40-4am. 2 nights running. Place was cold but heater in wardrobe to use. No facilities here. Staff not friendly and quite direct. My advice is go elsewhere.

I visited the Bear several times in the 80's .It was charming, friendly staffed with luxurious period rooms. Not the same today, my room was minute and appeared to be a typical middle market tourist hotel (but not in price) . The first night I awoke in the early hours to find my room cold and unheated. I found an...

As a regular visitor to the Bear it is with a wry smile that I leave this review. I do have a choice where I stay but I do keep coming back, just to see what will happen next! The Bear certainly pushed the boat out this time! I arrived early, planning to take a walk through the grounds of...

Having wanted to stay at this hotel for some time it was very disappointing to receive the level of service and facilities we did this week. Whilst I appreciate we arrived during a power cut it did not excuse the level of service, facilities and response we received. Whilst we were given a reeasonable room eventually after initially been given...

Mike, the Receptionist was first class, very welcoming and helpful. We had an executive room (no 37) which was at the back of the hotel and very quiet. It was well appointed with a Nespresso machine, kettle etc., complimentary water, flat screen TV, fast and free wifi, two armchairs and very good bathroom with free toiletries (no hair conditioner), flannels...

We booked three rooms for one night at short notice and ended up extending to two , enjoying the fabulous hospitality of our hosts. The rooms were of the highest quality and were a welcome sight for the weary road traveller . We enjoyed a fantastic dinner in the restaurant as well during our stay and couldn't recommend this establishment...

Stayed here for our Mini-Moon after getting married. Booked the four poster bed - gorgeous room and extra integral room with a settee, chair, desk and mirror etc. Large bathroom. Homely and historic stay. Greeted professionally at Reception and beautiful breakfasts. Lovely place to stay with Blenheim Palace literally a 3 minute walk away.

My husband booked this night as a treat and I have to say the setting in Woodstock is great and the old part is very comfortable and welcoming especially with the log fire.Throughout the staff were welcoming and very attentive. Our room was ok but cold and I suspect this is an on going problem as we found a stand...

Super location right in the centre of Woodstock, an old hotel with a modern feel to the rooms but retaining the true character of the past. Roaring wood fire in the well stocked bar, with afternoon tea served until 5pm. Very welcome reception and check in, room very comfortable and quiet. Dinner was very good with excellent choice and service...

The beetroot salad starter was my favourite dish of the night. Beautifully balanced and we'll arranged on the plate , the pickled carrot was superb. Unfortunately this was the highlight of the night food wise. The venison loin was perfectly cooked but while I enjoy my vegetables al sentence, barely warmed through is a step too far. I also felt...
