My wife and I traveled all over Europe after marrying in Greece. We stayed in a wide array of hotels, most of which were small, boutique establishments. Hands down, we loved The Bear in Woodstock the best. Here are the top 10 reasons to stay at The Bear: 1) The Bear was built in the 13th century and originally served...

Stayed here in January for a dinner bed and breakfast deal. We were upgraded and the room was lovely. Nespresso machine, lovely bathroom, free onsite parking. We stayed at the Lygon Arms recently and this hotel is alot nicer. However.... we'd read reviews about the cost of drinks and read the management replies saying they regulary compare prices to make...

Very very disappointed. Booked early for 3 nights over New Year. From the title you can see we were in a very very small room. Clearly a bedroom for extra family attached to a very large room. A 4 foot wide bed and no space. Two flights up for a 74 and 80 year old couple (have photos) would contravene...

We were greeted by a very friendly lady on reception and we were very pleased with our room. The hotel is very near the grounds of Blenheim Palace so really convenient and is right in the heart of Woodstock. However, and it's a big however, breakfast was a real let down. The buffet was good but service was very slow...

A very nice hotel. It is clean, very quiet, rooms are nice, the beds are fantastic. The building is full of character, creaky stairs, charm, fire places ... outbuildings and barnes ... we loved it, it is beautiful. Breakfast is very good and plenty to choose from. We will go back when we are in the area again.

Just back from a lovely stay at the Bear Inn, Woodstock. Perfect location for visiting Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Would highly recommend the Bear Inn - Staff very friendly, rooms clean and tidy and decorated to a high standard. Seeped in history the hotel has a lovely atmosphere and sets you up for visiting the palace; which is on its...

Hotel is full of character with lots of old furnishings. Lovely building in a nice location. We had a feature room at the front. It was so nice and cosy with a good selection of tea's, biscuits and a coffee machine. Bottled blenheim palace water with crystal glasses. The bathroom was huge with walk in shower and bath, robes and...

The room was lovely and the bathroom very clean. Staff is very attentive and nice. The only discomfort is about the food, The portions are very small but the quality is very good. However the extra dishes are very expensive for what you get.

My husband and I stayed here when visiting the Blenheim Christmas trail. We had a lovely walk to the palace. Our room was beautifully appointed even though the hotel is very old. The staff were extremely attentive and the food was all delicious. Another excellent Macdonald hotel.
