It was freezing when I arrived at the hotel with my son. We were a couple of hours before check in and wondered I could leave my heavy backpack in reception to look around town while the room was being prepared. The lovely lady on reception let us check in early as she could see

We chose the George Hotel as it was central and we were heading out for dinner. The location is great. We were given a room on the first floor at the back of the hotel which was spacious and quiet, beside noisy other residents making noise until the early hours. There is a small

Except location in central the hotel has nothing to give you. Its worst hotel I ever stayed in. 1. The first and foremost thing i felt here is racism, I am staying here for 6 days and the bartender always give me a weird look and say something to himself. 2. These guys have two

Dear Yogesh Re: Mercure George Hotel – 12th January 2019 – Room 308 Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on Trip Advisor in connection with your experience and issues you encountered during your recent stay here at the Mercure George Hotel Reading Please allow me this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay with us. Your willingness to share your thoughts is very much appreciated. I was disappointed to learn that you thought your bedroom accommodation was rather small and that the writing desk had no reading lamp to assist you whilst working and confirm I have instructed our Housekeeping Department to purchase a reading lamp. Unfortunately the hotel property does not have an elevator due to the nature and design of the building and I understand that the reception staff carried your luggage to your room at your request. I have this morning discussed with the Hotel Engineer regarding your Ironing board which had been dislodged from the wall, who has confirm this was replaced as soon as you informed reception. As you can imagine most old buildings built in the 1700’s have there fair share of creaky floorboards in some parts of the building and I can only apologise if your sleep pattern was disrupted due to the noise coming from the floorboards when other residents were walking past your door. In connection with your comments regarding the Bar Tender on duty I confirm the issues mentioned will be addressed and once again I apologise on his behalf if you felt the service provided was not as expected Your comments are important to the success of our hotel as we rely on you, our guest to tell us how we are doing and how we can better meet your requirements. As a good will gesture I would be delighted to offer you a free upgrade at a reduced price to include Full English breakfast next time you choose to visit Reading. Please contact me by return in order to arrange this on your behalf. I trust the action taken on your behalf will bring a sense of resolution and satisfaction for the disappointment you experienced Your willingness to share your experience is genuinely appreciated. I hope you will allow us the opportunity to serve your future accommodation needs, as we would like the opportunity to provide you with the level of service you expect from the Mercure George Hotel Once again my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused

The hotel is central, and cleand and the staff were helpful. The bar food was poor. My room was on the first floor adjacent to the street. There is no double glazing and street noise through the night meant it was difficult to sleep. Noisy plumbing so every flush from other

I like the look and feel of the place, historic and charming. Didn’t eat dinner there so can’t comment on that but the breakfast was really good. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfy, had everything I needed. One small snag was that the window
