We escaped to the Devonshire Arms having had our main holiday cancelled and what a treat it was. Five stars all the way for this delightful pub with superbly finished rooms.

The rooms all have a superb bathroom with a high pressure shower and really high quality fitments. The beds are supremely comfortable and all rooms have a fresh coffee machines with fresh milk in the fridge. You really don't want to leave.

Downstairs the pub is delightful. Wonderful food with attentive staff and a real ale selection to more than tick the box of 'proper pub'!

We particularly liked the hot bar snacks such as the chicken wings and Mozzarella sticks.

It was also clear these guys had really gone the extra mile to set people at ease over COVID restrictions.

The location is also superb with a wonderful view out over the fields which are perfect for a Sunday walk.

Quite simply, AMAZING!

We stayed for one night, in the Masons Room, which is very lovely, with a sumptuous super king bed, that provided a superb night's rest.
The Devonshire Arms is a 'boutique' style Inn, as are the rooms, with every 'little extra' thought of:
Gowns, slippers, cotton linen and towels, complimentary toiletries, bottled water, espresso pod machine, Alexa for music, and fresh milk in the fridge (no uht pots here!).
Additionally, the huge rain shower was a delight!
James warmly welcomed us, and lovely Denise looked after us at breakfast.
We will certainly be back.

We booked this hotel for one night and wished we had booked more nights. We will certainly be back.
We stayed in the room called Masons at the front of the hotel. The room was gorgeous beautifully furnished with lots of little touches such as the coffee machine, fresh milk in the fridge and lovely quality bedding on the king size super comfy bed. The bathroom continued the quality theme - fabulous big shower and big white fluffy towels + bathrobes and slippers.
We ate in the restaurant. Simple pub grub the night we were there but I understand that they also do “gourmet” nights. No matter the food we had was excellent as was breakfast next morning. All in all a fabulous visit further enhanced by the delightful and efficient staff.

My wife and I have just spent 2 nights on dinner bed and breakfast at the Devonshire Arms and I have to say that this is how a pub/restaurant with rooms should be run.
we had an executive room and it was spacious and immaculate with a large en-suite bathroom, coffee machine, Alexa speaker, complimentary water and biscuits and a miniature bottle of fresh milk in the fridge.
We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was excellent with a extensive menu. the service was brilliant. To have a restaurant packed on a Tuesday and Wednesday night in the current climate speaks volumes.
All of the staff from restaurant, bar and housekeeping were so friendly and helpful.
Highly Recommended

I booked this through booking.com as we were seeing "Take That" at Sheffield Arena that evening.
Helpful with early check-in, allowed us to book in at 2pm. The Warner Edwards room was nice, but we immediately had to close all blinds and shutters, as its very open on all aspects, bathroom didn't have obscured glass, so blinds need to down all the time. Fresh milk in the fridge, nice touch. The shower got very hot, I like a hot shower, but had to jump out at one point as it was burning me. The bathroom door came right off the runner when I tried to open it, luckily my husband is a big chap & was able to lift it back on, alone, I would have had to call for help.
Pizza for lunch was lovely.
Breakfast was nice, we had to ask for orange juice, and jams were removed from the table before our hot food arrived, I would normally have on toast afterwards. I personally prefer fresh tomato to tinned. We had to pay for extra tea & coffee, which was a bit much after paying £175 for the room. I felt non residents were given preferential treatment at breakfast.
Overall a nice stay, expensive for what it was.

I don’t get that people tell untruths on a review Also spend considerable amount of time talking to my staff And said all was good on your stay Why do you have to damage our reputation Firstly £175 You stayed in our executive room You get free bottled water Free coffee and teas ( in abundance) you get free biscuits Dressing gown. Complimentary slippers and an Alexa and you had early check in at no charge The door into the bathroom is a splendid hand made oak door It slides. You obviously tried to pull or push it It can’t come off otherwise Like all showers it has setting from cold to hot You obviously don’t understand that At Breakfast you were asked if you want coffee tea or juices You asked for only coffee and you asked for orange juice after !!!!!!!!! My staff moved your side plates to enable your breakfast to be placed on the table And was also asked if you wanted to keep the jam Your preference for fresh tomatoes is in the minority So many people left them in the past But you only need to ask that’s all just ask Rather than being a keyboard warrior You receive one drink per guest Our coffee Dosent come out of a jug but from a very expensive ILLY coffee machine It clearly states this In you room you can have 20 coffee or teas Preferential treatment to non residents is completely laughable Chloe spent 15 mins talking to you and your husband Finally. The shutters and blinds WOW obscure glass !!! We are in the open country side I’ve stayed in 100s of city centre hotels overlooked And never had shutters and or blinds Our rooms are spotless our towels are thick and fluffy Our staff are magnificent

We stayed in one of your beautiful rooms - Whitley Neil - last night for a dinner, bed and breakfast getaway and what a brilliant time we had!
The food was incredible (stunning flavour and presentation!) the room was warm and so well equipped (you've literally thought of everything from corkscrew to hairdryer!) but most of all we loved the incredible welcome.
We felt right at home from the moment we arrived and only wish we could have stayed longer, we both said we're booking two nights next time!
Alex there aren't many pub owners like yourself these days, who work so hard alongside the team of staff whilst still lighting up the room with banter and a smile.
Hugh is also a huge credit to your pub and hotel. He greeted us with a lovely and friendly manner on arrival and later asked us after dinner, "Have you been well looked after?"
That question summed up our stay.
No corny scripted service, just a beautifully genuine experience of great food, great service and a great sleep - what more can you want? Thanks guys, we'll be back!

We were a group of four staying for one night - two in the Robin of Locksley Suite and two in the Bloom room. We had dinner and breakfast there too. The place is beautiful, a real country pub homely feel, and the rooms felt new, luxurious, comfortable and modern.

A few emails and a telephone call I had in advance had me thinking everyone was a customer service star - very rare to get that consistency with different people.

The food was fantastic, a great mix of flavours and again the service was fab - super friendly people. Lovely selection of drinks too. For breakfast again great food and great service. Can't fault it! We did the dinner, bed and breakfast package and I thought it was great value for money.

This is the second time i have organised a family celebration at The Devonshire Arms and both times we have used the private dining room adjacent to the bar. On both occasions the food has been great and friendliness of the staff lovely. Nothing was to much trouble for them and they made both occasions run smoothly and without a hitch.
I cannot recommend the Devonshire Arms highly enough and will certainly be returning in the future.

We have just returned from the Devonshire Arms where we spent the most amazing 2 nights. The room.. Robin of Locksley suite was absolutely perfect.. beautifully decorated & very spacious. We were greeted by the lovely Bobbi & checked in super quick. During our stay we were lucky enough to be there on the end of the month fish night. This was perfect for us as we are fish lovers & were certainly not disappointed as the food was outstanding. The normal restaurant menu was also excellent as this was tasted on our first night. The staff were all super friendly & very happy to help with anything.. at breakfast the first morning Denise kindly advised us on some interesting places to explore. We could not fault a single thing & definitely be returning.
