Although the room was quite small it had everything needed for a night away. As well as being beautifully decorated, the bathroom was spacious with a large, walk-in shower and lovely big towels. There is a pod coffee maker for fresh coffee in the room (including decaff pods) and the pods were recyclable. This also serves hot water for the selection of teas provided. On each corridor there is an attractive service station which has fresh milk and refrigerated water as well as some very nice biscuits, chocolate marshmallows and chocolate caramel bars. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was out of this world, not just your usual full cooked but lovely eggs benedict, eggs florentine or poached egg and smashed avocado, all perfectly cooked and presented as well as fresh fruit and home-made granola, lovely fresh bread and a good range of jams and marmalades. Little touches like fresh butter rather than foil packets make such a difference. If I had any criticisms they would be this: Breakfast staff need to be looking out for things that are running out rather than standing by and waiting for guests to tell them. Broken lamp in bedroom couldn't be repaired because wired into the wall but would have been nice if someone had left us a message instead of us having to call again. Be aware that there are no lifts so be prepared to be going up and down a lot of stairs. These are minor things and did not detract from an excellent place to stay near to lots of restaurants, Botanical Gardens, university and buses into the city centre.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I had tickets for the World Snooker Championship at Sheffield, so I booked this hotel for two nights to make a weekend of it. The hotel looked very good online and we weren't disappointed when we arrived. It is a classic, handsome 19th century building, set at the top of an attractive garden area. There was no problem with the check-in process and we found our way to our tastefully decorated room which also had a large bathroom with a decent shower. This contained plenty of towels and quality toiletries. I would say that the room itself was comfortable, although it did get rather warm at night. I felt that ideally there should be slightly more bedroom and less bathroom - it was a little tight around the table/bed area. On he evening of arrival, we enjoyed drinks in the bar. We quickly decided, due to persistent heavy rain, that the planned trip into town was off and we'd have dinner in the restaurant (separate to the breakfast area). This turned out to be a case of us falling on our feet. The entire experience was excellent; the best pork belly we've ever had and good, friendly service too. Breakfast was also on a par with the evening meal. There was a lot of choice and great service. The food itself was amazingly presented. I would also like to highlight the warmth and assistance from the receptionists, especially when they arranged us taxis into town. They were right on the ball and we had complete confidence in them - as were all other staff we dealt with. We would be happy to return to this lovely place.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. It really is excellent and great value for money. I think it has links to the nearby University as it appears to be operated by students. Don't let that put you office as service is absolutely first class and better than some 5* hotels I have stayed at. Rooms are clean and modern, with good wi-fi provision. Breakfast which was included was also superb with both continental and full cooked breakfasts available. This hotel would be my default choice if ever staying the in Sheffield area. Highly recommended.

Booked a night in this hotel as we were seeing a show at the City Hall, and it didn’t disappoint. A clean and inviting reception area was met with a lovely girl on reception who made our checking in a breeze, explaining everything we needed for our stay, restaurant/bar area, breakfast times, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, bed was very comfortable and the shower was perfect, coffee/tea making facilities in the room with added bonus of unlimited refills and a good selection of biscuits and caramel bars. Breakfast was very nice, everything you could ever want in quiet relaxing surroundings, all in all a very enjoyable experience and we would definitely stay here again 😁

Where to start - Unwelcoming entrance to the hotel, drab interior , rooms outdated and decorated poorly , beds uncomfortable along with the pillows. The disabled shower room was good but didn’t use as disabled access at the front inadequate . Bar area again poor - very very bright not welcoming and certainly not somewhere I wanted to stay for more than one drink. Overall a very disappointing stay .saving grace was a good breakfast . The hotel needs a serious look at by the management in my opinion.

I was very impressed with my stay at Halifax Hall. Staff were friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. The room was bright, airy and welcoming, with a large bathroom and white fluffy towels. The bed a pillows were very comfortable. Tea/coffee facilities were over and above the norm, with a ,"top up" station on the middle floor. Tunnocks Mallows were a luxury. Unfortunately, and much to my disappointment the breakfast let the whole experience down. Ten of us received our food separately. The plates were cold, therefore so was the breakfast. The bacon was cooked to a teeth breaking crisp, dry egg and sausage. Reading other reviews on how good the breakfasts were I can only assume that they were short staffed and were having a bad day in the kitchen . This has not put me off and I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

Excellent stay, comfortable room, good food, great staff. I really have to say we were very impressed with Halifax Hall. The staff were, without exception, excellent, so pleasant and helpful. It is situated in Endcliffe which is a short bus ride from the city centre. Close to the Botanical Gardens, Endcliffe Park and the shops, bars and restaurants on Ecclesall Road. We only stayed for one night, will make sure we stay longer next time and would highly recommend this hotel. Just to note .... there is no lift, so if mobility is an issue, this should be taken into consideration.

Firstly the staff, you just couldn’t fault them, accommodating every request. Error made with room, not hotel fault but third party only booked for one person. Requested 2nd towel, cup and glass and delivered within 10 minutes. Room cosy and little small however ideal for one nights stay, big bathroom, linen felt clean, room clean, lovely little coffee machine. Snack stations on every floor, biscuits and milk all free and replenished daily. Breakfast very pleasant, endless coffee, tea and juice. Plenty of pastry, yoghurts, cereals and bread as well nice cooked breakfast all included in price. Overall lovely place to stay on outskirts of the town

We stayed in the executive room, which was very nice, and includes a roll top bath and a large shower. Breakfast had plenty of choices and dinner was excellent. Really friendly staff who were really helpful. Would definitely recommend. 5 stars.
