Made to feel very welcome and valued guests. We really enjoyed our stay and nothing was too much trouble for Alison. We do hope to return in the future. Thanks so much for all you did for us. Would recommend the b& b to everyone Wendy & Andrew Ireland
We booked two rooms as my daughter was consider Sheffield for a degree course and had an interview to attend. Alison was the the perfect host, as the cottage was empty, she gave us this rather than the two rooms so we had a lounge and kitchen also. We would have not hesitated to stay again, except my daughter chose another university.
We wish there were more stars we could have awarded! The accommodation was spacious but homely and so tastefully presented throughout. Alison is simply a superb host and went out of her way to ensure we enjoyed every minute of our stay. So many wonderful personal extras to suit our vegetarian requirements too! We particularly enjoyed the setting, the tranquility plus the views from our window of the gardens to the one side and the handsome horses to the other. We highly recommend staying here, such excellent value for money - put simply ‘there’s nothing like it’!!
We booked B&B for a few days in May as Loadbrook was close to the venue of a weekend event we were attending and we also wanted to spend a couple of days in the Peak District. The farm nestles in a hollow with 4 or 5 other properties not more that 4 miles west from the centre of the city of Sheffield. It might just as well been 400 as when you walk out of the door all you hear is the birdsong , sheep and the occasional courting pheasant. The main building is an old stone built farmhouse, the B&B accommodation is separated from the proprietors home by the kitchen so attention , if you need it is at hand. There are two rooms for B&B ensuit or with private bathroom with a sitting room and dining room for guests convenience. The proprietor has no objection to guests returning from trips out and using the facilities or garden at any time. Rooms were clean and tidy with furniture and decoration in keeping with the age of the property. There is also a holiday cottage to rent. The house sits at the front of a massive landscaped garden with streams and ponds and a Blue Bell Wood Breakfast was well provided with the usual cereals and juices followed by a cooked breakfast of your choice from a poached egg to a 'Full Yorkshire' Loadbrook's location makes it the ideal place for a visit to Sheffield or trips into the Peak District. Castleton with it's Blue John mines and cavern's is only 20 mins away and there is some serious moorland walking over The 'Strines' and Derwent moors only 10 mins away We couldn't have been happier with our choice of accommodation on this visit and next time we plan to visit the are Loadbrook will be our first choice for accommodation…
Super rural venue on the north west of Sheffield ideal for access to the glorious Peak District. Very quiet and a great country breakfast prepared by our excellent hosts. Well worth the detour from the north/south motorway network.
After many years, still a wonderful place to stay. Great location on the edge of the Peak District. Well placed for both city and country pursuits. Dog friendly. Horse friendly and people friendly. Alison creates a home from home environment providing comfortable rooms and breakfast of the highest quality. Overall Ladbrooke gets 5 stars from us.
Perfect in every way. Family trip with teen and grandma was wonderful for all. Ideal location near both countryside and Sheffield. Ten minutes to downtown, ten minutes to the Pennines. Local facilities are great, including a super grocery (The CoOp) and Our Cow Molly (ice cream!) The physical cottage is exactly what we needed, three beds, two baths, somehow both spacious and cozy. Immaculately clean and with all the modern conveniences you need (shower, tub, dishwasher, tv, internet, laundry) but within a proper original stone cottage with fireplace and farmhouse kitchen. All the decorations are suited for a country cottage but not too fussy which I appreciate. Alison is the model host. There when you need her, but not if you don't. Bonus... all the fabulous farm animals (and a pond and trampoline!) right outside your door. Great value for a weekly stay. Am returning soon. : ) from New York City.…
The attention to detail sets this above other B&Bs, we loved it. Sadly we stayed for one night during thick fog so couldn’t appreciate the views but rather than put us off, we are looking forward to our next visit. A dog friendly and cosy cottage with a lovely breakfast. For those looking to eating out locally, we were impressed with the Admiral Rodney in Loxley, part of the Vintage Inns chain.
We were sorry to stay only one night but we were passing from Edinburgh to London. The place is very nice and Alison has a great taste in furnishing her home. The rooms for us and our two children were beautiful and spacious as was the bathroom. Breakfast was perfect: plentiful and delicious. We hope to return one day to stay a little longer.
Thanks Alison and Rob for a delightful 3 night stay in December for the Sheffield Carols experience. Your 5 stars are well deserved and we'd love to stay again next year. Log fires, lovely food, a beautiful interior and lots of books. Perfect!
