This hotel has always been lovely, under its many faces over the last 20 years. Lately they’ve let their room rates get too low and attracted the wrong crowd which has ruined the hotel for other guests.
Staff are always pleasant and lovely, Martin is a credit to the reception team, and always gives us a warm welcome.

Nice hotel, friendly and welcoming staff. Hotel clean and location is 3 minutes walk out of the city centre. Only a couple of negative points but nothing to put me off returning. We stayed on 8th floor as we upgraded to a deluxe room (business class) and with only 1 of 2 lifts working it took some time to get a lift especially if we were waiting to come down from our floor. Now with having a business class room I would of thought you would of have more plug sockets or even USB ports but only 4 sockets in the room, 1 for tv so now 3 left and when there is 2 of you, you both need sockets for phone chargers plus smart watches and then hair dryers and straighteners so little struggle but I only wanted for phone/watch. There isn’t any sockets near the bed at all. There is a bar in the hotel and we planned to meet the rest of our group in there Saturday tea time for pre drinks but we found it to be closed off for a private party. But overall pleasant stay and yes I would return. Oh and there is onsite parking.

Attended a work party in city centre, this hotel popped up at a cheap price to stay rather than pay taxi home, and Included breakfast. Hotel isn’t much to look at from the outside, reception and hallways are clean but could do with a makeover. Staff were friendly. We’d booked a double room but was upgraded to a family room due to availability. Room was a pleasant surprise, spacious and equipped with tv, tea and coffee facilities, ironing board, hair dryer and complementary soap/shampoo. it was lovely decorated with newish carpet and clean throughout. bed was a really good size and comfortable with good pillows. Breakfast was a let down. Appeared to be plenty of choice, continental and full English buffet, but, it wasn’t quickly replenished. I had to make staff aware of things that had run out, there was a wait for fresh food and when it came out was unfortunately still cold. Overall, if I wanted to stay in centre again and this hotel was priced the same we would stay again, based on our room, but would probably skip breakfast.

We booked 3 rooms and cancelled 1 room more than 2 weeks before our stay, so well in advance of our 24 hour cancellation agreement with Booking.com. When we checked in reception told me the third room hadn't been cancelled, but was paid for, and I'd need to get a refund from Booking.com. Every time I tried to contact OYO it was either an automated message on the phone, or someone who couldn't understand me on livechat, or it was someone in India who couldn't understand me.

Turns out it was poor communication between OYO and Booking.com - not my problem. I just wanted my money back. OYO took my money and claimed not to have received the cancellation that Booking.com sent them, and wouldn't resolve my issue.

Anyway, it was back and to between OYO and Booking.com for over a month! I had numerous emails from OYO asking for my bank details, they never sent my money. I had to raise a complaint before eventually getting my refund from Booking.com - OYO were awful.

Our Stay: We tried to request an early check in, due to the reasons explained above, this was impossible. Reception kindly let us store our bags until we could check in late, which was about 9.30pm. The room was kind of clean, there was a coin on the floor in our bathroom so it obviously hadn't been cleaned well before we arrived. The room was large with amenities, but the window didn't have a decent lock and opened quite wide. Definitely a safety issue. Bed was too hard, duvet was far too thick for the summer! We weren't able to get breakfast because they had an issue with the gas or something, they were charging £5 for some toast and cereal, no thanks. We went to Frankie & Bennys instead. The hotel location was good, but pretty poor for parking. There's a rather pathetic looking vending machine in the hotel lobby.

Overall I might recommend the hotel for a 1 night stay, but I would NOT recommend OYO so I would suggest looking elsewhere instead if you can.

The entries for this hotel on all major providers clearly state pet friendly, pets go free.

We cane home from holiday to find building work incomplete and needed a place for one night urgently, we had our dog with us.
We found OYO on hotels.com and saw they were pet friendly. We called their advertised contact number (local number) to verify and was told yest no problem.
When we tried to check in- 8.30pm, tired, hungry the hotel manager refused us entry because we had our dog.
We explained about the advertisements on hotels.com and was told that this was incorrect and that it wasn't their fault but hotels.com! the number we called was apparently an Indian call centre and again it wasn't their fault.
So - now its gone 9pm and we are really tired and wondering what we can do.
Hotel manager said that OYO would call us to arrange alternative accommodation, 15 mins later they called to say, sorry but there is no alternative and please accept a refund.
Nothing they did solved our problem.
Check first folks and don't believe their false advertising claims

No remedy offered

Booked on 01 July 2021, paid in full through booking.com (5 stars). Oyo cancelled, 18 August 2021, three weeks before best friends Stag Do for a party of Ten. Given 24 hours by booking.com to provide alternate accomodation. Offered alternate arrangements in another town, 6 miles away from where our weekend would be based and not what I booked originally. Their excuse? They couldn't cater for us that weekend. Then had the cheek to ask for a review of their service, might I state that the cancellation came on my wonderful Mother's birthday. Great curry at Mithaas on Narborough Road. Gave an honest review to them, have screenshots if you want to see. Refund received from booking.com, who found suited accomodation, easyHotels Sheffield, slightly more expensive, but only 4 minutes away from our entertainment. Oyo responded to my review, with a poor reply, expecting me to contact them. Will not book with them as clearly cannot be honest with their customers. Was even courteous to appreciate they had to cancel for Covid related reasons which they haven't admitted to.

Very disappointed

There were a magnitude of problems with our stay.

1. We booked pay on the day which was an additional £43 to be charged a week early for. The hotel did nothing about this and said it was not their problem but the booking agencies.

2. When we checked into our triple room, which was £143 the hotel had been mis advertised, the room was unclean and very dated. The hotel had also provided a pull out bed for an adult guest. And charged almost £50 a night.

4. After being in our room for 10 minutes, 2 complete strangers walked in as they had also been given our room and key cards. When we complained that this was not safe, as we were 3 young women leaving our possessions for the evening and this could have happened in the middle of the night or whilst we were changing. They had no concern for our safety or privacy, and merely offered only a breakfast for compensation and blamed it on a staff error. We then tried to return to our room to find all room keys had been disabled leaving us stranded in our corridor.

3. We discovered a mouldy bottle of lubricant in between our beds. When we complained to reception we were offered 20% off our next stay which was a complete misjudgement, as we would never stay at this hotel again, even if it was free.

We lodged a formal complaint 2 weeks ago and were told we would have a response within 24 hours and have heard nothing since. I held off doing a review to provide them an opportunity to compensate us but they clearly do not care.

This hotel is unsafe, unsanitary, overpriced and run by people who have no concerns of the issues raised. I would strongly advise to stay at the bordering holiday inn, as at least there you know you are staying at a reputable chain that understands the responsibility attached to providing people a place to stay.

Best wishes,
3 very disappointed and disgusted young women.

I stayed here with my Partner and her Family for 4 Nights.

Whilst the staff were great and accommodating, you can see they are struggling. They absolutely are doing the best with what they've been given!

For starters, we booked for an accessible room, as a member of our party is disabled. This was not in hand for our arrival, owing to the fact that the call centre is in India and there seems to be a massive breakdown in contact between the higher echelons of Oyo and the people doing the work on the ground, so this vital part of info was not made available to the staff (Not their fault, they were more than helpful). Whilst this was a bit of a curve ball, we managed to make do, albeit made our stay a bit less easy.

The rooms are clean, but dated, with mismatched furniture and decor.
You are getting a slightly below standard Travelodge room, that being said, at least the sheets were clean and the bed comfy! Lack of bedside sockets were a bit annoying but I can't really complain about that, just bring an extension lead if you have a few gadgets.

The Included Breakfast left much to be desired, this was a dismal display.
It was arranged in a buffet style, but there was always less than adequate on offer and what was on offer was usually cold. The quality of the food was very low, sausages I wouldn't even have offered to my dog! Then again, I can see from previous travellers photos that the breakfast looked ok, so maybe I was on the receiving end of the blatant budgetary cutbacks that day.

I say in my title that OYO are sweating this asset, let me elaborate on that.
It's often clear when a corporate body purposely underfund an asset, lack of regular maintenance, tired exterior, no noticeable signs of upkeep, bland/depressing communal areas (they didn't even fill the vending machine in reception).

The staff here are very good, they do their jobs well, but their talents are marred by the bean counters in OYO's finance department restricting a bit of capital for this venue.

If you're looking for a cheap central location to stay whilst you visit Sheffield, this is fine, I felt safe and the rooms were really ok if you're not nit picking, the bonus of an NCP right behind the place is good too!

This place could be great if they injected some money into it. Revamp the rooms and communal spaces and ABSOLUTELY renovate the restaurant, that could be great with the right people behind it.

Would I stay again? Probably not.
Would I warn others away? No.

TLDR?

We stayed on a Tuesday night for a concert, when booking the price for a double came up us £48 which was a fantastic price but when I went to confirm there was only a family room left for £76 including breakfast.
Check in was quick as easy, staff polite and nice. Our family room was the 9th floor.
The room at first glance was a decent size and and a large king bed and then a single chair that had been put out for a sofa bed.
The room was freezing and we realised the window didn’t close properly and had a draught. The only heating was a really old fashioned wall heater which didn’t look great but actually gave off a lot of heat.
The room wasn’t the cleanest and had some water marks down the wall, the carpet wasn’t the cleanest and the plug hole was really grubby and gross.
The bed seemed comfy at first but in the morning realised it was such a hard natures and I woke feeling very achy. That could be personal preference though and you can’t please everyone with mattress options.
Breakfast was a total let down. There were 3 hot plates with beans, bacon, hash browns and boiled eggs. No other egg options such as fried and no sausages. The food was Luke warm and not great at all. The glasses were dirty and overall quality of breakfast really poor.

Overall would I stay again? Yes if I needed a cheap room for the night. Including breakfast it didn’t work out too bad for value despite all the negatives. If I had paid more for his hotel I would have been disappointed but for the price it wasn’t so bad

I didn't book through booking.com I went direct to the call centre this was because I wanted to confirm parking and breakfast. I ended up making to separate bookings over the phone for two separate nights. I was told there was parking at a charge of £5 per night which was the main reason for the stay as I was there with my daughter for a swimming event and its only a short walk from ponds forge. On arrival I was told there was no parking spaces available as there are only a handful of spaces but this was resolved. The room smelt of wet dog which I eventually located to the bedside table where the carpet was wet and the wood was rotting. I was woken on the first night at 3;45 am by other guests shouting and partying but this soon stopped. On the second night I was woken by the air conditioning unit at 6:10 am that sounded like a plane on the window sill. There was no alternative pillows available in the room and my daughter found them hard to sleep on. The bedside light cover was missing which if you have young children would be a health and safety concern. Breakfast was OK but limited. The building is tired looking both inside and out. The bathroom is very basic and needed attention. The staff where lovely and very helpful and did say if I had problems I should of spoken to them but you don't want to be changing rooms at 9oclock at night.

We parked in the Hilton carpark next door for £8 - the concern we had with the NCP was it is locked up so if you want to go out and then return later you can find yourself locked out and of course you pay for each entry/exit which isnt the case at the Hilton. It does have parking surveillance so parking there and not bothering to go to reception for a ticket could be expensive.
