My daughter & I enjoyed a lovely two night mini break at Ferndell in Shrewsbury during August . The gorgeous house is a short walk to the town centre, with plenty of street parking just outside. Sarah greeted us warmly and made us beverages and offered us home made cake on arrival in her spacious kitchen. She gave us lots of tips on where to visit whilst enjoying our break. Our en suite room was overlooking the front garden and was extremely comfortable and spacious, with lots of extra welcoming touches. A very spacious en suite was a blessing too, when two women share a room. The house has a lovely feel to it, and Sarah’s family are friendly and welcoming( especially their beautiful pet spaniel). The breakfast area was very pleasant in Sarah’s spacious kitchen and it feels like you’ve popped in for breakfast at your friend’s house as she chats whilst cooking your breakfast to order. We were offered a fabulous selection of breakfast choices but we both decided on some delicious freshly cooked hot English breakfast items. Nothing is too much trouble. We enjoyed two days of shopping and relaxing in Shrewsbury but did not get chance to see too many sights on our second day during the afternoon due to stormy windy weather. We relaxed in our peaceful room which was not a problem. When I contacted her, Sarah has given me plenty of tips before we arrived on which restaurants to attempt to book a table at for dinner, due to the “Dine out help out “ evenings being so very popular during August. All in all a lovely little trip away staying with a superb hostess. …
We had a great stay and are ever so happy we discovered this bed and breakfast. A large comfortable bedroom with a fantastic view. Lovely en suite bathroom with room to swing the proverbial cat! Together it makes for one of those spaces which makes you wish your own house was like this one. The breakfast is very good, and the home baked bread and cake are delicious treats not to be missed. Ferndell is ideally situated a short walk from the town centre and Shrewsbury has something for everybody. Sarah is a super hostess and makes you feel like one of the family and ensures your stay a perfect one. Overall it is like spending a weekend with your best friends, and one to be recommended.
What a wonderful stay with Sarah and family, you are made so welcome you feel like moving in! An experience which is much more than just a stay. Home gorgeous, rooms same and very spacious, fabulous location and the family are eager to help you make the most of Shrewsbury and your visit. Wouldn’t hesitate recommending and hope to be back soon.
A very friendly welcome from Sarah and her family. 2 lovely large bedrooms and even things like fresh milk for early morning cup of tea. Wonderful breakfast to complete the stay. Thoroughly recomend tjis as a quiet, spacious and very hospitable b&b. Many thanks. We look forwarf to our next visit .
Sarah is probably the nicest lady in the country - so friendly and lovely. Having her as a hostess really does make you feel like one of the family and like you're a guest rather than a client. We were in the twin room which is huge, airy, comfortable and beautifully appointed. The bathroom / toilet are not en suite but next door and for the sole use of the room. The bathroom is huge and the shower was glorious! The breakfast was wonderful and the family chat around it again making us feel like welcome guests. Short walk into Shrewsbury where there is wandering aplenty to be done! Parking is on street and you may have to walk a short distance but this is hardly even an inconvenience.
