My wife & I and two friends are enjoying a wonderful long weekend break in Shrewsbury staying in Hambrook House. How lucky to have chosen this "Quality B&B" which we all agree deserves five stars.
We had a warm welcome from the owners Kevin & Charlotte who had taken every precaution to deal with the current Covid 19 rules. Temperatures were taken on arrival coupled with face masks, sanitisers and social distancing.
We were all treated to home made shortcake biscuits and fresh milk to compliment our well stocked tea & coffee. Nothing was too much trouble to our wonderful hosts. Our rooms were extremely clean and tastefully decorated and facilities were excellent including strong WiFi.
Breakfast is very yummy with freshly cooked eggs, bacon & sausages, also fresh fruit & cereals.

The location with onsite parking is a 10 minute picturesque stroll to the town.

Well done Hambrook House we will hopefully be returning and definitely will be recommending you to friends & family.

Excellent service, communication, presentation and very enjoyable stay.
Booked 3 rooms for one night. Rooms were beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. Bathrooms were immaculate and very nicely finished. Plenty of private parking at the front for the cars. Host and staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was delicious and served on crisp white table cloths with proper cutlery. I absolutely would not hesitate to book here again and would recommend to friends and family. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Although we previously responded to your kind review my husband reminded me that we had agreed that on the occasion of our 150th unsolicited review we would give the reviewer a free night at Hambrook House! This is to be a king size or twin room for one night including weekends (subject to availability). So please do get in contact when you get this message or would like to stay. Once again, thank you for making the effort to write a review. Best Charlotte & Kevin

Very comfortable, convenient and welcoming stay at Hambrook House during full lockdown for an essential business trip. The hosts were very kind and considerate of Covid-precautions at all time, and a delicious breakfast was delivered to the door at an agreed time. The house is elegant on a beautiful road, a short walk into the town of Shrewsbury (maps are available), with easy parking. Excellent wifi, nice toiletries, comfortable bed and a flat screen TV in the room too. Couldn't ask for more.

Well, what can I say? Hambrook House is just perfect in every way - spotlessly clean, comfortable, relaxing, in a quiet residential area…and the hosts were lovely!
We arranged to check in at 2pm and were shown to a room downstairs which was really cool in the heat of the day. The bed was so comfortable and we slept fine. Breakfast was table service and we chose some fresh fruit salad with yoghurt. Cereals were also available. You could then have either a full English (bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, tomato, etc….beans were also available) or any combination plus toast & preserves. It was tasty and well cooked and more than enough for us.
The hosts, Charlotte & Kevin, were lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to help. We enjoyed our chats with them at the start and end of each day.
You are provided with a room key but not a front door key so you had to ring the bell to be let in at any time of the day up until I think 11.30pm which was not a problem for us.
Shrewsbury town with its array of lovely medieval buildings was a ten minute stroll across Kingsland Bridge which also took you onto the riverside path. Walking along the river was beautiful and takes you to the Welsh Bridge where you can take a 45 min. boat ride along the river with a very informative captain!
All in all we had a lovely couple of nights in Shrewsbury and wish we could have had more time there. We will definitely be back and look forward to staying again beautiful Hambrook House. Thank you Charlotte & Kevin for your hospitality (Paul said he’s looking forward to coming back and having that pint with you!).

Everything was first class down to the cutlery and linen, a beautiful house, room overlooking the garden and fields with the added bonus of a few sheep grazing. 10 minutes walk to Shrewsbury centre, but quiet and safe, had a fantastic nights sleep, wonderful shower in the morning, immaculately clean. We had a first class breakfast, you could taste the quality of the local produce used, very welcoming and helpful staff, first overnight of the year and has set the bar high for any that follow, we would give you 6 out of 5, thank you

The owners are very welcoming and the house and rooms are immaculately decorated and cleaned. The location is incredible and views from every window beautiful. However everything about our stay there felt rationed. The hot water for a late evening shower was luke warm, the bed too small. Breakfast was very ungenerous. A very limited offer of food, served in tiny portions. We had to ask for more of everything, which was a bit uncomfortable: more milk, more butter, more toast, more tea and coffee. There were no pastries and there was no cereal choice: a tiny serving of dust-like muesli that left us hungry. It felt like they were determined not to waste anything ( which I do applaud in principle) but it came across as parsimonious and mean. It would be perfect if you had a tiny appetite or on a diet. But not for me!

Thank you very much for your review and we are pleased you had a good welcome and that you found the rooms immaculately decorated and clean and the location incredible and the views beautiful. I will try to answer your comments in turn. We must apologise if the hot water was not hot enough when you took a shower in the late evening - we endeavour to have piping hot water for all rooms as we see this as essential for a good stay. I note you were with us for two nights and it would have been very helpful if you could have addressed this issue with us so that we could have looked into and resolved this. The room you booked is the only bedroom with a 'standard' double bed (all the rest are either king size or twin rooms) and this is reflected in the price and clearly displayed at the time of booking so you would have been aware before your stay of the size of the bed. We are sorry that you felt that the breakfast was too small. We serve tea for one in a small teapot and tea for two in a large tea pot - the same with coffee (standard or large cafetiere), so we cannot see how we can change a system which up until now has worked perfectly. To clarify, we do have a choice of individually boxed cereals (Fruit 'n Fibre and Cornflakes) as well as Weetabix, fresh fruit salad, muesli (which is local and organic), yoghurt and porridge prior to the cooked breakfast order. We will however take on board the comments you have made and in future ask guests how large a portion they would like. These are tough times with the increase in energy prices and most especially for businesses where there are no price caps, however we would never cut corners on our guests comfort and breakfasts and indeed are currently trying to resist a price increase. Thank you again for your review.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Hambrook House, a very beautiful immaculate period property, just a short walk along a beautiful tree lined suburb to the town centre. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner Charlotte, who was extremely welcoming and friendly, and made us feel at home. Our room was immaculately presented and very comfortable indeed. The breakfast was served in the gorgeous dining room, overlooking the garden, breakfast ingredients are freshly prepared and are first class, as well as the service. We had the pleasure of being served breakfast by Charlotte's daughter for one morning, she was so pleasant and helpful, and such a delight to meet. Obviously run's in the family in this extremely welcoming homely house. Can't recommend this stylish house enough, it really is superb.

Stayed one night in early October and wish we'd stayed longer. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean (as was the whole B&B) and the beds really comfortable. Breakfast was really tasty, and using fresh local produce. And all of this was in a Covid-safe environment. Hambrook House is really handy for walking into Shrewsbury centre, across the Kingsland bridge. Thanks, Charlotte and Kevin, for a lovely stay. We would love to make a return visit to Shrewsbury as there is so much to see and do.

Everything was lovely. We stayed in room 5 with a view over the garden and with a large and spotlessly clean shower room. Our breakfasts were fabulous and Charlotte couldn’t have been kinder in looking after us. The 15 minute walk into the town centre was just fine for us and there are so many good restaurants, bars and pubs to enjoy when you don’t have to drive!

We stayed at Hambrook House for one night as part of a Shrewsbury weekend away and couldn’t fault it. Beautifully decorated and impeccably clean room with a good sized bath and peaceful setting away from the main bustle of town but just a short 10mins walk to the main square (take the recommended short cut over Kingsland bridge rather than the google map route which for some bizarre reason is much longer!).

The owners are friendly and helpful without being intrusive and despite seeming to be fully booked we didn’t hear a peep from other guests. Breakfast was tasty and staff were again friendly and helpful. The only possible suggestion for improvement would be to offer an option for vegetarian bacon or sausage with breakfast but this was a very minor niggle in a wonderful stay.
