Perfect stay at the Shrewsbury Premier Inn. Very clean and quiet. Ideal town centre location and within easy walking distance of a get-together with friends. Looking to plan another trip to this location to explore further.

Good central location, Nice clean hotel, had a good weekend break, lovely breakfast and staff were most helpful. Bath is a bit high to enter plus no grab handles . In future we will book an accessible room so that we can access the shower without getting stressed as we both have mobility problems.

The hotel was in a great location overlooking the river Severn, and a short walk into the town.
All covid measures were in place throughout the hotel, with hand sanitizer, screens, and one way systems.breakfast buffet is now ordered from your table at a pre arranged time, and delivered to the table by a staff member. Restaurant cleaning was carried out to a high standard in the restaurant between table service.
All the staff were very friendly, and Tim had a great rapport with all the guests.
The room was up to the usual premier inn standard, we were advised that staff would not enter the room during our stay to limit any transmission.
If required, extra towels etc could be ordered from the check-in desk.
We would definitely return for another visit to the beautiful town of Shrewsbury.

By the time we left this hotel we were actually laughing at the list of complaints we'd come up with. I am also aware that writing this review could reflect on the staff but I want to be clear that the staff who we dealt with during our stay were lovely and friendly and did everything they could for us within the constraints of the obvious mismanagement they are forced to work under. 1. The hotel is seriously understaffed. Getting bar service or speaking to someone at reception can be very difficult at times. 2. We went for dinner on Sunday night, having been told the restaurant was open until ten. When we arrived around nine we were told the ovens were turned off because "It wasn't busy enough." 3. Bar was closed at times when it should have been open or we had to wait ages for a staff member to finish off one of their other duties before service was available. 4. The reason for our visit was a family wedding. I'd rang to ensure there was an iron available but on the morning of the wedding at 8am I found that there were twelve ironing boards in the guest service room but no irons. I was told the cleaning staff would try to locate one when they arrived at 10am. Nothing came and I had to leave for the wedding with crumpled clothes. 5. We had a leak through the window in the hotel room through a window which is designed not to open. 6. There was no soap in the dispensers either beside the toilet or in the shower and despite leaving a large handwritten note requesting refilling, when we returned the note was still on top of the dispenser and nothing had been refilled! 7. What was there however, on the sink ledge was a dirty cleaning rag, that may have been used to wipe the toilet, beside our toothbrushes and personal items. 8. On our last night the fire alarm went off at 1.35am and again the following morning at 6.00am. The reason we were told was because someone had come in off the street and pushed the alarm button. So why does a hotel offering 24 hour assistance not have anyone in the lobby area (security guard??) to stop this sort of thing happening? And the 6.00am alarm was not explained. 9. Finally, after an awful sleep we got up for a full day travel, only to find the water in the shower was freezing cold.

I wouldn't stay here again for free.

Hi Mick, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. We are really sorry to learn of your disappointment due to multiple issues. We have passed all your feedback onto the management team so they are aware, they will look into this and take any necessary action to ensure this is not an experience shared by others. We were slightly concerned as this was our first trip away since the COVID lockdown, we should not have worried. The staff are all very COVID aware, no staff go into your room, if you need anything changed, towels etc, just let reception know and leave the things you want changing outside of your room. Breakfast was slow but great when it arrived. The hotel is in a good spot for the town, easy walking distance of the town centre shops museums etc.

The bed in room 420 is embarrassingly creaky. The windows are sealed, presumably to stop traffic noise, but means they cannot let fresh air in ( I always sleep with windows open). The air conditioning is noisy, making it difficult to get to sleep, and only goes down to 19 degrees. PLEASE PLEASE provide toilet rolls rather than the fixtures which dispense one leaf at a time, supposedly bringing another leaf into view which it often doesn't, meaning one has to try and reach up into the device to find another, and another etc. The place was very understaffed with single reception desk which was rarely staffed. The parking charges are a rip off, should be free for residents.Paid £8.99 each for breakfast on booking, no mention of £6.99 continental option which we had anyway.

Had a one night stay in Shrewsbury and needed to keep it cheap. This hotel was offering a double room for £35,that to me is a no brainer!
The room was spacious and clean as was the bathroom, the double glazing meant you didn't hear any traffic noise, even though the hotel is on a quite busy road.
Location was ideal for the town centre and for strolling along the River Severn. Breakfast was an extra charge but well worth it,it was huge!
If you're after a cheap and cheerful place to stay in Shrewsbury, just book it.

Myself, my husband and 2 young children have just stayed here for the last 3 nights. We were visiting West Midlands Safari park and Cadbury’s World and afternoon doing a lot of research into nice towns to stay near by these two attractions I chose Shrewsbury! I’m so glad we did, wow what a lovely place!

When we got to the hotel the children were starving so we dumped the car in the multi storey and went out for some food (we had booked a table at The Boathouse).
We then headed back around 6.30/7pm to our car to unpack however when we returned we realised our car was locked up in the multi storey! Turns out when we went to reception and asked the lady on reception, we had parked in the wrong car park! Be careful of this as it’s very easily done as the arrow points towards the multi storey, you need to park on the bottom floor which is the first left as you go in!

Although I was stressing as we had an 11 month old that needed his bottle!! The receptionist was so helpful, she got in touch with the company and they came out, we had to pay £60 for them to come out but the lovely lady on reception (wish I knew her name!!) made sure we got our money back by giving us free breakfast every day (to the value of £17 each day, £51 in total) and also she let us off with paying for the parking too which was meant to be £40 for our whole stay.
She really didn’t need to do this as it was our mistake but she was so lovely and felt bad for our situation!

The Family room was perfect, nice and big, decent shower. All you need! And for the price it’s amazing!

Location was perfect, 2 min walk from the shops and then a 10 minute walk from the amazing riverside bars and restaurants! Such a lovely place!

It’s an hour from Cadbury’s world and about 50 minutes from West Midlands Safari park.

Breakfast was nice, it was cold the first day which wasn’t great, and the last day it took a while to come but at least this time it was hot and the service was fab!

Will definitely return :)

Perfect location as the hotel is in walking distance of the town but is quiet even though it is on a busy road. We had a room overlooking the road and river and couldn't hear anything at all. The room and bathroom was spotless. We had breakfast for the 2 nights we stayed and it was excellent, great choices and plentiful, we stayed 2 hours over breakfast on the first morning as it was so relaxing. I must mention Andreea, the receptionist, nothing was too much trouble as I had rung the day before requesting a room overlooking the river which we got, asked for decaff tea bags as only standard tea bags in room and I don't take caffeine and was given a plentiful supply. She greeted us over breakfast to check if everything was ok with our room and breakfast, and she worked the breakfast room in a warm and welcoming way checking on the guests. We sat in the window and saw a squirrel run along outside, it was so sweet to watch. It was a lot busier at breakfast on the Saturday morning, (our 2nd night) so I guess the weekenders had arrived but breakfast items were all still available and people kept their distance. I think Andreea is a great asset to Premier Inn. You can see that she loves her job, she told me that she wants to treat her guests how she would like to be treated if she goes away and it really shows. I can't fault my stay at all and would definitely return, in fact I have already told friends and family that they should visit Shrewsbury and stay at the Premier Inn as it such a nice place, everyone we met was very friendly. Re Covid, just to add there were sanitisers available at the entrance and on entry to the breakfast room with one was barriers in place. In the evening the doors are closed so you need your room card to enter, and you need the card to enter the lifts so we always felt secure.

Rooms always clean and comfortable. Occasionally a musty/damp smell, but I attribute this to the fact the windows don't open and perhaps its stale air that comes through the Aircon.

The standard WiFi is always very poor, paid once for the upgrade, and it was just as poor. There isn't any phone signal on EE in any of the rooms, I have to use the stairwell or downstairs in the reception/restaurant.

The breakfast service is currently to made to order, despite it being advertised as unlimited. You are able to order as much as you like, however this isn't practically possible due to the staff being overwhelmed with the table service. They work extremely hard, and are very friendly. I feel for them, as they are extremely short staffed at breakfast. I would allow an hour to be served and eat. Unless you order a Full English, be prepared to specify exactly the number of items you require - for example if ordering a portion not toast, specify how many slices, or else you'll just get one piece on a plate with no butter. It may take 20mins to order any more or ask for butter/toppings. Same goes for pancakes - I ordered some and I got one on a plate, no toppings or fruit etc as pictured on the menu. Not a lot for the price.

Evening food is also very poor. I paid £7:49 for the loaded nachos, topped with veggie chilli and received some nachos in a box, with less than a desert spoon of chilli on top - no cheese, no cheese sauce, no spring onion or coriander as advertised. Very disappointed.
