Very Disappointing weekend. We normally go to York Christmas shopping but thought we’d try Shrewsbury. We parked car at hotel & informed receptionist we where leaving it there.Never asked for reg or our name or would we like to dine that evening.Walked into the town to find no market at all + a lot of the shops closed down.On arriving back to hotel & reading on trip adviser before we came that the hotel is due to close in the new year we could see why.No warmth in the place or ambiance. We were given a room in the annex which was very dated. On getting into my bed there was a stain on the inside quilt cover,I don’t think the bed had been changed. We Rung & a Gentleman came with a clean cover.Breakfast was very nice but could do with some music in background. On checking out the receptionist didn’t no about the quilt even tho he said he would leave a note. They did take 30.00 off the bill which was a nice gesture. We went to Telford the next day & is a much better place for shopping & had a Christmas market. We saved the best till last.…
Nice and clean rooms, with all the staff you need to feel comfortable for 1- 2 days. Very big and comfortable beds. Very clean rooms and bathrooms ( in the main building and in this on the back part) . Classic English breakfast was really, really good!
I didn't have the opportunity to experience very much the hotel had to offer, but I think it would be appropriate to express appreciation of the professionalism with which they put on the gathering after a family funeral: efficiently & calmly done which helped it work. Sorry to learn that the hotel will be closing soon.
It’s not a long walk into town, it’s based quite conveniently. The only down side is you are near a main road so can be quite noisy if busy but it didn’t stop us from falling straight asleep.Rooms are nice and comforting.Nice place to stop off at.Staff are friendly and breakfast was lovely!!
We stayed here for one night on our way to the North. This hotel has an annexe which is where our room was. The main hotel has a lovely entrance and the staff were very welcoming. We ate our evening meal at the hotel which was a Sunday roast. The meal was average. The breakfast however was fabulous and well worth the money. Loads of choice and quality ingredients. The rooms need updating but overall we had a great overnight stop.
