Booked a double room £120 for two nights with breakfast (fri 17-sun 19 July)
We arrived on Friday afternoon and was shown to our room!
Room 1 absolutely gorgeous with four poster and en-suite. We thought they’d made a mistake, but apparently my cousin asked if we could be ungraded (due to me finishing my chemo treatment) this was done without any fuss or payment.

What a beautiful thing to do for us, The Bull Inn made us feel so very special the whole weekend!
Thank you!

Just had a 1 night stay here and it was fantastic
Unlike previous reviews we never heard any noise after the pub beneath closed for the night.
We had room 1 which had a 4 poster bed. The room was lovely and comfortable and felt very luxurious.
Shower in bathroom very powerful
For such a reasonable price we were expecting a lot more basic so we were really surprised how lovely the room was.
Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
Thank you

We were two couples that booked in to the bull midweek October 2021 After travelling from West Wales by the Heart of Wales line arriving at 18.45 at the Bull. We were aware that unfortunately they were not serving food that evening due to staff shortage brought on by Brexit! We had bedrooms at the front of the hotel that were just as we expected for a pub type accommodation. Everything very clean with fresh towels laying on the bed with shampoo and conditioner etc. What more can you ask for a £60 / £70 room. Ours had a private bathroom next door to our bedroom. We were aware of the situation when booking and was just fine. All very clean and served it’s purpose. There was some noise from bin men and street cleaners early on in the morning but that did not bother me too much. Shrewsbury is a super town to visit with so many places to see and look at Will definitely return to the Bull if visiting Shrewsbury any time soon

Myself and my husband decided to have a couple of nights away in Shrewsbury. The reviews for The Bull Inn were ok and it was reasonably priced so we booked a 2 night stay including breakfast.
Before we left home we rang the Inn to see where we would be able to park, the call didn’t go well as the girl on the phone didn’t have any idea where to advise us other than saying find an NCP car park so I googled it.
We parked in the Darwin Centre it costed us £15 for the 2 nights.

When we arrived at the Inn we were surprised that none of the staff had masks or visors on and we found it difficult to keep at a distance when the girl showed to our room not wearing any PPE.

The room it self was clean although the bedding was tired our room was not en-suite which wasn’t an issue as we had our own bathroom across the hall which was locked.

Had a great time exploring Shrewsbury and found some great bars.
On returning to The Bill Inn we were confused to see all staff wearing visors when serving in the pub/restaurant.

Didn’t have the best nights sleep due to being at the front overlooking the street, a bouncer was excitedly telling his mate that he had knocked someone out at 1am. But we expected some noise as above a pub.

Breakfast was ok, ingredients were not fresh, sausages were cheap we only got toast on one of the mornings with the Full English and the “butter” given with the toast on the first day was Dairy Free with no explanation.

I really feel the biggest downfall was the lack of consistency with PPE.

I travel across the uk as part of my job. So I stay in lots of hotels, b&bs and self contained accommodations. So please know that when I say this is the worst place I’ve ever stayed…it’s because it was. My booking was for the week while I was there for work. The second I arrived I desperately tried to book in somewhere else but there was no availability anyone else close by. So I had no choice but to stay there. I had to swap rooms as soon as I arrived because the room they gave me had no window, no natural light or fresh air of any kind, along with broken glass in the room, a broken wardrobe and bedsheets that looked like someone had walked on them in muddy shoes.
Their hospitality was abysmal, the worst I’d ever known. They were quick enough to take my money but after that, they didn’t care about you. The room wasn’t cleaned once. No fresh towels or cups offered. Loud music that was not advertised when booking. Fire exit doors propped open by chairs so the musicians could be cooler in the bar, as a result the entrance to the rooms was blocked aside from the fact that Its a fire exit! When I asked to see the manager, a young lad in a baseball cap told me he was the manager. Instead of helping me he took his dog for a walk and left me waiting in the bar. Then after the worst week I tried to check out only to find I couldn’t get into the reception station in the bar as no one was there! THERE IS NO NIGHT PORTER.
If you want any sleep of any kind do not stay here! If you want any kind of hospitality, do not stay here. This place is criminal.

Atmosphere good and bar staff friendly but our meals were not to the usual good standard we've had previously over the years, ordered lasagne (pictured) which was a dollop of mince with no seasoning, no sauce, no layers of pasta etc, given there was a carrot in it almost looked like a cottage pie had a piece of pasta placed on the top with some cheese. Also ordered a Pie, the size was far smaller than previous and chewy tough beef, we were asked if our meals were ok to which we shared our disappointment but were just told "I'll let the chef know" in other words, not bothered. This was the first outing for my mum who has been shielding and she was most disappointed. Times may be hard for pubs but lowering of standards and cheap cuts of meat is false economy as we won't be returning.

6 of us dined there and between us no one really enjoyed their meal. The pub stank of bleach as we entered which was off putting. I sent my meal back and to be fair was offered an alternative, but that wasn't much better. Dishes arrived looking nice, but food was bland, buns on burgers stale, potatoes under cooked, no sour cream served with chilli con carne despite being advertised, was given a tiny portion of guacamole which tasted vile. Veggie chilli was tinned tomatoes, a load of under cooked veg and chilli powder. It was dreadful. Burgers were rock hard. Ingredients were cheap and there was no skill in the cooking. Overall, 2/10. Don't waste your money.

Smack in the middle of old town Shrewsbury. No parking on site but streetside parking close by St Mary's Church, pay day time free 18-08. Then a short walk over cobblestones to the pub, not possible to drive to entrance as it's on a pedestrian street. Check in at the bar. Walk up narrow stairs to rooms. Some rooms have separate bath, but on the landing, so a dressing gown is a good idea. Very narrow bathroom with usual dodgy British plumbing. Nice rooms with genuine old timey feel. Staff friendly and fun.

Stayed here, for one night and was happy with what we got, for what we paid. That said I would say it's not great if you struggle sleeping through loud noise as the bar down stairs is busy. We stayed in room 5 which disappointingly had a bathroom separate from the bed room ( it was across the hall and was just for the use of our room) which was not ideal and something I had not expected but for one night I can live with. The room was clean on the whole, but had quite a bit of dust, and could have done with a good clean, not just on the bits you see. That said it was fine and not a massive issue to me but just needed a bit of extra attention from the cleaner. Room 5 over looks the street and as it was a hot night we had to sleep with the windows open which ment a lot of noise from the bar and street below, so if that's going to be an issue for you then this is not the place for you. The location is great in the centre of the town and walking distance for all the attractions. The nearest car park is an ncp about 10mins walk way.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I would recommend this hotel/bar to anyone who wants to be close to the action and doesn't mind being a busy hotel above a bar.

Firstly i have eaten here for years on visiting Shrewsbury and the food is usually excellent. However i took friends here for Saturday lunch and the food was so awful we had to make a complaint. Yes hospitality have had a very tough time lately but this shouldn`t mean we are expected to put up with poor quality food and service. First of all food arrived before any cutlery and we had to sit and wait for this to arrive. The lasagne was so overcooked and dry it couldn`t even be cut up, fish was grey in colour and didn`t even resemble haddock, burgers were bland and all chips had a taste of being fried in dirty oil. We returned nearly as much of the meal as we received.
The manageress was rude and suggested we should understand some of her staff are only 16 and she was understaffed ! How we can be blamed for this was difficult to understand. Such a shame this used to be a great place for food on my next visit to Shrewsbury i will be looking for a new venue to have lunch for sure.

The station is about 10-15 minutes walk away, and it's slightly uphill from what I recall. We all had small wheeled cases so it was an easy walk. There's a taxi rank right outside the station if that sounds too daunting. I would expect a cab to be around £5 (ish).

Hi, there's a public car park on Wyle Cop, on the left hand side of the road, going towards the Abbey. You can drive up Butcher Row to drop off your bags then go and park in The car park. The postcode for the car park is SY1 1XE and it costs £7.50 for 24 hours.

Not sure. It is in the centre of Shrewsbury so good location but it is a pub. A very nice pub but could be noises I think until the last man leaves. I didn't see any families booking in it was mostly couples. Perhaps worth giving them a call. Sorry I can't be more helpful
