Just returned from a weeks break at Oxmoor lodge (number 5). The location is absolutely spot on for a nice peaceful break from it all with beautiful scenery surrounding the lodges. The cafe next to the site was great for any meal you wanted and reasonably priced and there was a good choice of pubs to go within 10 minutes drive for a bite to eat and drinks !! Before going we had read recent reviews regarding the cleanliness of the lodges and in particular comments regarding lodge number 5, so when I found out we was in this lodge I began to feel a little uneasy. The lodge itself is nicely laid out with the en-suite being a bonus, however the dirtiness of the lodge was disappointing, including spiders everywhere in corners of rooms, dead flies on window sills, hot tub was yellow and gritty upon arrival. Only seen the hot tub being checked once in the week we stayed. Valance round bottom of double bed was dirty and all Marked and hanging like it had been thrown together. Corners of skirting against floor was dusty and manky, the outside of the lodge where we sat at night, again beautiful views of an evening watching the sunset but spoilt by the soffits and gutters all over run with cobwebs and spiders, and the balustrade on decking full of webs, spiders. Even though this review sounds negative we would still stay here again because the setting is magical and so peaceful but there has to be an improvement with the cleaning. As other people have commented this is not upto the standard of lodge Hoseasons rate this as !!

The location was quite remote which is great if you want a quiet relaxing break.....that's if you can manage to relax with all the rules in place! I totally understand the need for some rules but these are ridiculous and really put us on edge. The lodge itself has some nice touches like coffee pods, milk in the fridge, cleaning pack and shampoo in the bathroom but this is let down by the cleanliness. Skirting boards were filthy, cobwebs everywhere, grubby kitchen cupboards, dirty pans with loose handles. Confetti in the grooves of the coffee table and even a sanitary towel left by the previous occupants! The hot tub was full of grit/sand and looked like it needed a good scrub. The decking and furniture had to be brushed down before we could use it and it was on full view for everyone fishing or walking. If you visit with small children, beware of the blind cords as they are dangerous. I would have thought tying these up was standard safety regulations? Oh and be ready for them calling you on your arrival day for a £100 damages deposit! I felt like charging them a cleaning fee when I left!

We stayed in lodge number 3 which was a 2 bedroomed/2 bathroom lodge. The lodge was comfortable, and well equipped. Some of the furnishings were a little tired, but it's a holiday let lodge, you'd expect general wear and tear. The site is not very big at all, i think i counted 8 lodges in total and there is very little to do other than relax in the hot tub, but that's what we'd booked the break for so it suited us perfectly. The location is ideal for touring around the shropshire area. You are very close to Shrewsbury, Welshpool and Oswestry. Bob the warden is very friendly and does regular checks on the hot tub. Other guests were considerate and abided by the rules of no loud music and partying in the lodges. There is a room on the site with a pool table in which my children enjoyed using. We'd booked through Hoseasons and the site came under their Bouja collection, i'm not quite sure it lived up to the higher standards i'd expected, but for the price the payed the accommodation was adequate.

It started with a welcome call about contactless check in for covid safety and them asking for a credit card deposit whilst we were driving there. After reading reviews about the lodges being ‘ tired’ I would agree and add dirty. The bathroom smelled of urine and the source found on inspection under the toilet seat as this was heavily stained yellow with other issues found which included also a used plaster on the floor , dirty pitted Lino , hair in the shower! The main room settee had food between the cushions and pieces of slightly frayed material hiding stains on the arms. Oven is greasy and pitted. Coffee maker has remnants of previous uses, most surfaces obviously not wiped for some time and all of this with the safer stay badge ! A sign on the wall gives emergency contact numbers only in emergencies after 5 and then says this is not to ask for the WiFi code ! Rude ! The best part -The balcony and hot tub overlook the lake and a very lovely man called bob who is the warden . Instructions for use of items needs to be included in the welcome email for the hot tub jets, coffee maker This could be beautiful but needs a really good deep clean as this is the most unclean , even prior to covid, Bouja Hoseasons properties we have stayed in .

Don’t be fooled by the pictures. We stayed in a lodge for a friends weekend. We do this quite regularly throughout the year and this lodge was by far the smallest and most basic we’ve stayed in yet for a similar price to others we’ve been in. The cleanliness of the lodge was pretty poor considering the current COVID situation. There were flies everything both dead and alive, sofa was very stained and we even came across a toenail in the living area and a slug in the bathroom bin. Along with this the hot tub looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. The water was very cloudy and full of hair/fluff/other grim things. You couldn’t leave any doors or Windows open or you were inundated with daddy long legs!!! Not ideal!!! Kitchen facilities were basic. There were literally 6 plates, 6 forks, 6 knives etc. No serving dishes and limited pots/pans and utensils and the fridge was not properly secured. The bedrooms were tiny and beds most uncomfortable being smaller than the average double and single beds. One of our friends is 6ft and their feet were hanging out the bottom of the bed. Bedding was however clean- pillows very hard and lumpy as we’re the mattresses. 2 of the rooms stank of damp which was quite unpleasant. Also think it’s pretty cheeky to have to strip the beds before you leave when you’re paying decent money to stay. Overall we’d say these lodges are basic quality. We had a great time in great company but wouldn’t return.

Was a lovely place but downside was the cleanliness to say they had from 9am - 4pm to clean the lodges they were not done properly especially with all the COVID they should of been spotless we found a toe nail on the floor so did our friends in the other lodge ( DEFO WAS NOT ANY OF OURS ) and the furniture not been pulled out as was dirty underneath, and the sweeper for the carpet ( must be over 20 year old ) was not emptied , and rollers full of hairs ,so please wigmore lodges retrain your cleaners . Bedding was spotless , never saw the hottub being cleaned either

Having stayed here twice previously we knew what to except ,on this occasion we were deeply disappointed by the cleanliness of the cabin especially under Covid conditions. Cooking equipment was basic, wasn't provided with enough pots or pans or utensils had to wash them as we cooked when cooking a meal that evening (if I family had our cabin, I would have been very surprised if they managed to cook meals). Holes on the outside decking, blind hanging off the bathroom next to a patched up hole.

We stayed here for the half term week of October in a hot tub lodge with our 2 boys aged 12 and 9. The hot tub was a big hit for us all, saw some shooting stars and some amazing sunsets from sitting in it. The lodge was really big and clean, with lots of room, and a few small touches like dish washer tablets, shampoo and shower gel, an ensuite to main room was handy too, comfy beds, cosy sofas, lovely and warm, the central heating was super effective. The balcony area was secure so younger children would be safe. Such a quiet and pretty spot, no traffic noise, occasionally heard a distant train when sat outside but nothing else, total black spot which was great for star gazing. The lodge is a short 20min drive to Welshpool which a is a cute little town made up of some shops, and restaurants/pubs. Definetly recommend the food and drinks at the Raven inn, we ate lunch there during our stay, the food was really good, atmosphere was lovely, staff really friendly (it was dog friendly too if you visit with a pooch). 20minute drive in the opposite direction takes you into central Shrewsbury, had a walk through the park which was really lovely and very clean. Shrewsbury Town is a lovely little town aswell with lots of unique one off boutique stores and then more well known branded stores (barbour, joules, River island, hobbs, accessorize etc) we had a lovely day pottering around the park and the town and ate lunch at Ask Italian which was also very nice, good food, happy friendly staff and good atmosphere. We will definitely be visiting here again.
