Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ox more lodge number 3 was spacious, clean, fully equipped and a very pleasant environment to spend a few days in. I cannot comment about the fishing on the lake as I do not fish. However I was able to watch the carp jumping and catching flies at dusk. There was a swan nesting directly in front of the lodge and the daily stand offs between the swans and the geese was really something to behold. Venue a little isolated unless you have transport, although there is a chippy/ corner store almost at the entrance to the Lakes. Check the opening times for The Windmill Pub before setting off for a walk though. Overall really pleased, enjoyed my stay and would recommend.

A lovely pet friendly Lodge with a hot tub. Very clean and quiet site with two beautiful lakes. Everything you need for an adult family get away , and a couple of pubs and a cafe close by. The kitchen was great with a washing machine and dishwasher ,clean cooker and microwave and toaster. A big mention for Bob the site warden. Lovely chap.

Nice lodge and location But of all our years of going to Lodges I didn't expect to to the job of housekeeping and strip the bed 🙃 Diner down the road provided excellent food and was very handy for our needs

My wife and I stayed for a long weekend last bank holiday. The site was beautifully kept and very picturesque. There were plenty of wildlife about swans , Canadian geese , ducks , wild rabbits and many more. The fishing pools both were excellent with a huge variety of fish caught each day. The carp pool I caught 20 in total with the smallest weighing 5 pounds and my biggest 12lbs. I lost lost that were bigger. The shower and toilet blocks for campers and caravans were very clean and spacious. Bob the site man was on hand to answer questions any time of the day and very helpful with his fishing knowledge. At the entrance to the site there is a great chip shop and you can sit in to eat a post office and a shop. Nearest pub I think was a mile away and only 10 miles to Welshpool will 100% be back soon

Just returned from a weeks break at Oxmoor lodge (number 5). The location is absolutely spot on for a nice peaceful break from it all with beautiful scenery surrounding the lodges. The cafe next to the site was great for any meal you wanted and reasonably priced and there was a good choice of pubs to go within 10 minutes drive for a bite to eat and drinks !! Before going we had read recent reviews regarding the cleanliness of the lodges and in particular comments regarding lodge number 5, so when I found out we was in this lodge I began to feel a little uneasy. The lodge itself is nicely laid out with the en-suite being a bonus, however the dirtiness of the lodge was disappointing, including spiders everywhere in corners of rooms, dead flies on window sills, hot tub was yellow and gritty upon arrival. Only seen the hot tub being checked once in the week we stayed. Valance round bottom of double bed was dirty and all Marked and hanging like it had been thrown together. Corners of skirting against floor was dusty and manky, the outside of the lodge where we sat at night, again beautiful views of an evening watching the sunset but spoilt by the soffits and gutters all over run with cobwebs and spiders, and the balustrade on decking full of webs, spiders. Even though this review sounds negative we would still stay here again because the setting is magical and so peaceful but there has to be an improvement with the cleaning. As other people have commented this is not upto the standard of lodge Hoseasons rate this as !!

The location was quite remote which is great if you want a quiet relaxing break.....that's if you can manage to relax with all the rules in place! I totally understand the need for some rules but these are ridiculous and really put us on edge. The lodge itself has some nice touches like coffee pods, milk in the fridge, cleaning pack and shampoo in the bathroom but this is let down by the cleanliness. Skirting boards were filthy, cobwebs everywhere, grubby kitchen cupboards, dirty pans with loose handles. Confetti in the grooves of the coffee table and even a sanitary towel left by the previous occupants! The hot tub was full of grit/sand and looked like it needed a good scrub. The decking and furniture had to be brushed down before we could use it and it was on full view for everyone fishing or walking. If you visit with small children, beware of the blind cords as they are dangerous. I would have thought tying these up was standard safety regulations? Oh and be ready for them calling you on your arrival day for a £100 damages deposit! I felt like charging them a cleaning fee when I left!

We stayed in lodge number 3 which was a 2 bedroomed/2 bathroom lodge. The lodge was comfortable, and well equipped. Some of the furnishings were a little tired, but it's a holiday let lodge, you'd expect general wear and tear. The site is not very big at all, i think i counted 8 lodges in total and there is very little to do other than relax in the hot tub, but that's what we'd booked the break for so it suited us perfectly. The location is ideal for touring around the shropshire area. You are very close to Shrewsbury, Welshpool and Oswestry. Bob the warden is very friendly and does regular checks on the hot tub. Other guests were considerate and abided by the rules of no loud music and partying in the lodges. There is a room on the site with a pool table in which my children enjoyed using. We'd booked through Hoseasons and the site came under their Bouja collection, i'm not quite sure it lived up to the higher standards i'd expected, but for the price the payed the accommodation was adequate.
