The Bird, Bath hotel garners praise for its welcoming staff and its prime location that puts guests in the heart of Bath with scenic views. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with travelers consistently commending the pristine conditions. While the decor and amenities, including complimentary snacks and a pet-friendly policy, contribute to the hotel's unique charm, opinions on room sizes and value for money are mixed. The hotel's quirky atmosphere is a highlight, though some guests note the lack of AC and extra parking charges as drawbacks.

Had 3 nights on a SE deal. This is a lovely little boutique hotel. It’s in fantastic condition and decor. Staff are friendly, welcoming & professional. Bed sooo comfortable. Small lounge with daily papers and small bar at reception. Dyson hair dryer and pod coffee machine in room. Just a small point which is down to personal choice & not knocking any ‘points’ off: the coffee pods are expresso & very strong, not to everyone’s taste, cleaner did give us some sachets to use instead. Also hanging space is tiny just a small wall mounted rail , struggled a bit especially with additional wet coats, would suggest a separate hook/s to put coats on.
Location is great, enough out of city to have parking ( not always possible with Bath hotels) but close enough to walk to the city centre in about 10 mins.
Deal included breakfast & dinner. First breakfast: very good , nice buffet choices for continental style, cereals, fruit, yog, pastries etc. Then cooked choices made to order all well cooked and came as asked ( I.e crispy bacon, soft poached eggs) Quirky themed decoration. Nice music in background ( makes a difference).
Dinner: unfortunately the restaurant doesn’t cater for anything apart from breakfast. The deal included dinner at No 15 Pulteney , this is about 4 min walk away. Not a problem per say , except our stay was during storm Ciara! It is a bit of an inconvenience if the weather is bad. It would be great if they were able to have kitchen facilities to have dinner, at least you’d have a choice then. Obviously there are plenty of other eateries in town if you fancy the walk and weather permits.
The whole place is spotless, even sweet jars to help yourselves too, little touches. All in all a great find in a great location.

This was a special 2 day trip to Bath for my mum and I and we chose The Bird, not knowing too much about it, other than they had a free cream tea with the room booking!

We didn't know what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.
There was plenty of parking, which is rare in Bath, and the reception rooms were decorated in an elegant and quirky theme which gave you a taste of things to come. The hotel staff were warm and friendly from the beginning and did everything they could to accommodate a change of room, offer advice on where to go, how to get there and let us leave our bags due to arriving too early to check in.

We started our stay with the cream tea, obviously, and it was fresh, homemade and delicious! The outside garden terrace is a real feature of this hotel with great views over Bath. It was quiet and not too overlooked and designed as a sort of chill out space - it felt very relaxed and bohemian. All the staff at Popinjays (hotel bar/restaurant) were attentive and the prices for food and drink were reasonable.

The breakfast area was interestingly decorated, and everywhere you look in the hotel there are design details that make you smile. It was apparent during our stay that the hotel was going through a very minor scheme of improvement due to a new restaurant opening shortly, but this was discretely hidden from guests where possible and we hardly noticed it.

The room we stayed in had lovely high ceilings, a huge chandelier and felt spacious and well-appointed, with a gorgeous Georgian window which flooded the room with light. Although facing the road, we didn't hear any noise and if I had to criticise anything, it would be the lack of privacy with the toilet in the bedroom. It was ok for me and mum but I wouldn't hang around if my husband wanted to use the loo in the room. You may also struggle if you have long legs as space is tight but, having said that, the rest of the rooms may not have this issue as these big Georgian hotels have some huge rooms.

The breakfast was fab with plenty of choice, and the three cooked cheese souffle was melt in the mouth. All the Covid restrictions were carefully followed and I felt that they were always mindful of guests social distancing and use of PPE without being overbearing.

The hotel provided some lovely touches with a welcome and leaving bagfor guests with water, map, homemade cookies and this was an especially nice feature of our stay.

This is a hotel which is working really hard to get and keep its guests in very difficult times for hospitality. I feel they are going above and beyond your average hotel and I suppose that is the point - this is no ordinary hotel. It's a special place in design, service and quality and I highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting Bath. Will definitely be back!

A 5/10 minute walk from town, you won’t miss the hotel - it’s fun design is full of character inside and out, there’s barely a surface uncovered. The breakfast is fresh and a decent portion (the black pudding is particularly good), and the staff are friendly if not a little overrun, but to be expected at the moment! Would warn that their cheapest rooms are really very small with no wardrobe space or fridge, but the communal snack station is really generous and accessible. A cool boutique hotel in a great location. Thanks for having us!

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights recently. What we both liked about the hotel was its location, well decorated and they had great cocktail bar which in the hot evenings was superb. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked. On the whole the service was very good and welcoming.
What we didn't like was the no servicing of rooms due to Covid. We think that it would have been better if they still did a basic service when you had left the room for the day with a refreshing of towels, toilet paper and quickly cleaning the bathroom. Room 22 was very noisy the wall with the adjoining room was very thin so you hear everything. My wife also didn't like the way her request for an additional toilet roll was dealt with, instead of the expected "certainly we will sort that out", my wife got a lecture on waste!
We would consider staying again.

Beautiful decor but not up to scratch on the basics for rooms at this price. There is definitely a lot of thought in the decorative details and these are really well done here. The staff were also mostly brilliant although we had some problems with check in.
But...
There is an issue with the bathroom fan that blows dust into the room somehow - all over the towels and toilet seat. Also the bathroom bin does not have a lid - a small detail but it's a nicety in such a small room.
Oddly we had no hand towels provided though to be fair at this point there were already several disappointing details and so we did not request them.

Lots of light (and noise) came into the room from the corridor at night through the large gap under the door.
Note the hotel advertises its beautiful views but you may end up in a 'comfy king' room with views of the wall of the house opposite.

Finally, although the restaurant was hot on COVID-safe measures, the rooms seemed less so compared with several other hotels we have stayed in this year. They still had decorative soft furnishings (throw, cushions), windows weren't left open to air the room between cleaning/guest arrival.

Our overnight stay was made such a pleasure by the beautiful decor, comfy bed and delicious food and drink. Everything was well organised, with all our check in details in our own personal bag, which included all the details we needed ... the hotel’s menu, tea, coffee and biscuits and a map of the surrounding area for sightseeing. All the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful... nothing was too much trouble. Hand sanitizer was placed at regular intervals and every surface was being cleaned regularly. The cherry on the top was the beautifully presented and delicious breakfast platter, taking the place of the traditional buffet which they are unable to offer at the present time.
We were at the top of the building which involved going up a lot of stairs which was no problem for us but it would be worth mentioning when booking if you have mobility problems.
All in all we can’t wait to return!

just returned for a two night break here, the hotel is well placed to visit bath city centre and is about a ten minute stroll into town down some lovely historic streets.

Staff are very helpful and this is a boutique hotel with quirky decor and rooms. we had a secret escape deal which included dinner on first night breakfast and an afternoon tea.

Without doubt breakfast was the best cooked breakfast we have eve eaten, the breakfast staff were exceptional and we were made to feel welcome.

Dinner was during a busy period and service was quite good, food was nice and wekk cooked.

Rooms were spotless less with fantastic views and very comfortable beds, staff throughout hotel were very warm and welcoming and would not hesitate to return or recommend, bath itself is simply wonderful.

The only thing that left the Bird down was the afternoon tea, it was at a busy time with very large hen parties however service was still ok although we did have to request hot drinks to go with the tea but that was down to them being very busy, but the actual offering for afternoon tea was simply underwhelming and expensive for what you actually received, nothing wrong with it just underwhelming at 25 pound per head plus service I would expect something other than two tiny mouthsize cakes and a tiny slice of very dry cake as final course, although scones were nice they were small and the four finger sandwhichs were boring we have had much better elsewhere and sure for same money you could walk somewhere near and have a much better afternoon tea.

Arrived home from here today .. 10th Feb 20. Very nice indeed. 3 nights. Great location .. out the front door and left, then left into Edward Street and at the end turn left into a classic Bath Street .. wide clean and lovely to look at .. and just walk straight down into the city centre. Very clean with friendly helpful staff and a lovely breakfast too. Easy to park .. better at the rear .. just go down the left hand side. Warm and cosy with daily papers to read in the lounge. OK .. all good so far but just a note to the manager/owner ... we arrived Friday pm and I imagine the room had been empty all week ... we walked into a FREEZING cold room in the dark .. "I,ll just put the heating on" she said as the young lady showed us in .. it was Baltic ! Really spoiled it you know .. you want to show your guests into a warm nicely lit room and it should be like "Ta Da" .. Welcome ..all warm and cosy and lit .. but it wasn,t. Come on ..basics .. if you have guests coming that day and its winter get the rooms ready BEFORE they arrive ! And the window frames in that room (No 1) desperately need doing ... Sorry to moan but it needs pointing out. Overall don,t let that put you off .. its a lovely hotel and well worth a stay !

Had a warm and friendly welcome. Check in staff were very helpful. Room is a tad small but pleasant. You get some noise from the road during the day but quietens down at night.

We were disappointed to only receive 1 bath towel in our room and the telephone didn't work so we had to use our own phone to contact reception during our stay.

The food and service at dinner was excellent and the drinks were very good. Bar staff were very friendly. It was a shame the Alpine bar wasn't open and we were told it was opening the following day.

Breakfast was average. The food was of good quality, unfortunately the eggs were very overdone for the full england and the eggs benedict. The staff also seemed quite distracted and we had to ask multiple times for water for the table.

Location was great and the added benefit of on site parking was good.

Overall I would say for the price some improvements need to be made but overall was a pleasant stay and the location and dinner were the best parts.

Thank you for your review Becky, We are pleased to hear that you had received a warm welcome upon arrival. However, I would like to extend my apologies on behalf of the whole team at The Bird that other elements such as breakfast and telephones not working had taken away from an otherwise enjoyable stay. I speak on behalf of the whole team, that we would love another opportunity if you are planning to visit Bath again in the future. We will endeavour to build on your past experience. Best wishes, Alex and your Bird Team

This short break was initially our Christmas 2020 break, postponed due to Covid

Helpful reservation team rebooked it as a short summer staycation.

Arriving fairly early, one room was ready the other was still being worked on

Housekeeping, simply brilliant throughout the stay, made a final check on the bed covers as the whole party was allergic to feathers. All the pillows were replaced, and in the second room mattress hoovered as the previous mattress topper was feather. Attention to detail - thank you.

It was a couple of the hottest days/nights of the year and this is essentially an old hotel structure with no built-in conditioning so curtains were drawn, a mobile fan and air conditioner sought to keep the room cool, but not really succeeding but a nice try.

Food is available via Plate their restaurant (open to non residents) which is very good with staff with the same can do attitude, always willing to try and make the stay unforgettable.
