Bathen house is located just a 5/10 minute drive outside of Bath’s city centre and is very easy to find and access. It has a very clean and peaceful interior and the decor is classically stylish. We were very impressed with our room, it had everything we needed and more including toiletries and a selection of teas, coffees and sweet treats upon arrival. The king size bed was very comfortable in which we had a great nights sleep. We also enjoyed the gentle sounds of the fountain outside.
Downstairs you will find the incredible restaurant Bouvardia that offers fine dining in an elegant setting. The food here was truly amazing and so fresh. There is also an honesty bar within the hotel where you can serve yourself your own drinks including cocktails to enjoy in the relaxed lounge area.
In addition, the service was wonderful and the staff were all so friendly and attentive.
I would highly recommend a visit to Bathen House and I will certainly be looking to return in the future.

The hotel is situated a 30-35 minute walk from the town centre but it’s a very easy commute on foot. Alternatively you can opt for a taxi or drive (7 min drive) as the hotel has a car park for guests. We found walking really easy and a nice way to get our steps in and see the suburbs and park of the city.
Upon arrival we went up to our room which boasted a generous size bed which was extremely comfortable. I slept for 11 hours which is unheard of for me when staying in a new place. There was lots of floor space in the room which isn’t that common for hotels at this price point so a pleasant surprise. The tea tray had a lovely little bag of cookies and treats which were thoroughly enjoyed later into the evening. The bathroom was literally my dream. I don’t have a bath tub at home so when I stay in hotels I always try to opt for a room with a tub and this did not disappoint. The bathroom amenities were also of nice quality - I loved the makeup remover towel which was a nice touch as I always get conscious of dirtying white towels with mascara.
The hotel lounge has an honesty bar which is quite literally an actual bar where you can make your own cocktails, pour your own wine, and you just write down what you had and you’ll pay it at the end of your stay. The fireplace was a nice cosy place to sit before dinner.
The hotel also has the most amazing restaurant on site called Bouvardia. It’s an intimate space with the most incredible food. We had venison in a hazelnut crumb which I swear will live in my head forever given how delicious it was. The staff were so friendly and the whole experience was a treat. I’ll leave a review separately for this in more detail against the restaurant as I’m rambling here. The breakfast the following morning was also hosted here and my waffles were delicious and my husband's full english was one of the best he’s had. In all it was such a delightful night away and we felt refreshed, revived and delightfully full of great tasting and great quality food.

We stayed at Bathen House for 1 night. The hotel itself is very clean and inviting and the staff were also lovely. When greeted the receptionist was lovely and helpful and showed us to our rooms and even offered to help with our bags! The plus side to staying at Bathen House is the fact that it offers free parking, which is great when visiting Bath City Centre - which is just a 5-10min drive away!
Our Room was spacious, bright but still kept that cosy feeling. Our room also offered an even more spacious bathroom with a beautiful built in bath. The bed was super comfy and i had no trouble falling asleep here! The Hotel was very quiet itself and considering it’s on a very busy road I did not hear traffic at all really. The only downside I would say is staying in room number 1, it is separate from the other rooms which is lovely and private but I believe it is right under the reception area so could hear the floorboards creaking every now and then. This wasn’t a massive issue as when it came to going to sleep I slept right through even though I’m a light sleeper, but we were woken up by the floorboards creaking in the morning. The room we stayed in had some really beautiful decor and so much space. The room offered everything you needed from a selection of teas and coffees (and hot chocolates) and there were even some naughty little snacks which were all complimentary! We had a minibar in our room which was stocked of water and Pepsi! For those of you who also like to lock their bits away when you’re not in the room they do also have a safety box which is quite handy!
They do have a bar at Bathen House which offers an ‘honesty policy’ but we didn’t spend much time in here. The bar is still very clean and a very chilled room situated on the same floor as reception and the restaurant.
The bathroom is beautiful and big and had underfloor heating which was lovely when getting out the bath! You have to take full advantage of the big bathtub when you stay here because they are absolutely huge! I liked the fact we had our own robes and even had a ‘makeup remover’ wash cloth and a box of cotton buds and balls, which I found super handy!
Once we woke up, we made our way down to breakfast which is served between 8am and 10am and was included in our stay. There was a great selection at the continental stand such as Pastries, cereals, fresh fruit, juices, teas and coffees but they also offer cooked breakfasts so we went for the full English of course.
Overall I would highly recommend visiting the Restaurant or the Hotel (or both!) for a lovely romantic meal and getaway. You are away from the hussle and bussle of the City but not out in the sticks so you're too far away from anything! Both The restaurant and Hotel had the most elegant touches and I absolutely loved visiting here. I will definitely be booking back here when needing to stay in Bath again.

We recently stayed at Bathen House for a night to celebrate my partner’s birthday with a little staycation, and we had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything about our visit, from the warm welcome to the thoughtful touches throughout the hotel, made for a truly memorable stay. Finding the hotel was simple, and one of the first things we appreciated was the ample free parking—a real bonus in Bath, where parking can often be a challenge. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who handled check-in efficiently and provided us with all the key information, including breakfast details and an introduction to the hotel’s honesty bar. The honesty bar, located in a cozy lounge area, was a lovely touch, featuring cocktail recipes for guests to make their own drinks—a fun and unique addition to the experience. We stayed in Room 11, which was spacious, stylishly decorated, and well-equipped for a comfortable stay. The standout feature was the large bathroom, complete with both a separate bathtub and a walk-in shower, making it feel quite luxurious. The hotel’s attention to detail was evident, from the complimentary soft drinks and sweet treats in the room to the thoughtful inclusion of a makeup remover face cloth in the bathroom. These small touches really enhanced our overall experience. The room itself was quiet, with a comfortable bed and soft, high-quality linens that ensured a great night’s sleep. The temperature was just right, creating a cozy atmosphere without feeling too warm or too cold. Everything was spotlessly clean, adding to the relaxing environment. In the morning, we headed to the hotel’s Bouvardia restaurant for breakfast, which was another highlight of our stay. The selection of food was impressive, with a self-serve station offering fresh juices, pastries, fruit, yogurt, and cereals. For our main breakfast choices, I had the eggs benedict, which was perfectly prepared, while my partner enjoyed a generous full English breakfast packed with delicious, high-quality ingredients. It was the perfect way to start the day. Another great feature of Bathen House is its convenient location. While it’s not directly in the city center, it’s easy to get into town. We opted for a quick 10-minute Uber ride, but walking is also an option, and there are bus links nearby for added convenience. Overall, our stay at Bathen House was exceptional. The warm hospitality, beautiful rooms, and delicious breakfast all contributed to a wonderful experience. It was the perfect place for a relaxing and enjoyable staycation, and we would happily return in the future. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel in Bath that offers both comfort and charm, Bathen House is a fantastic choice.

Everything was absolutely perfect and better than we could have ever imagined or hoped for. Kate and the rest of the team went above and beyond for us and all our guests, it was truly the absolutely best day and would not have been possible without the fantastic team at Bathen House. Their attention to detail throughout our stay was impeccable and truly made us feel so comfortable and relaxed about all the arrangements. The food was absolutely incredible and all our guests commented on how delicious everything was. We wouldn’t change a single thing. Thank you to everyone at Bathen House for helping to make our day so special.

We’ve just returned from a trip to Bath where we stayed at Bathen House for the night.
This place is perfect if you don’t want to stay in the centre but also don’t want to be too far away from everything as it’s just a short uber ride away or you can walk it (would take around half an hour).
When we arrived we had fresh cookies and treats in our room waiting for us and we were super impressed by the size of the rooms. The bathroom here was absolutely gorgeous, all marble with a huge silver free standing bath.
Once we had settled in we went down to dinner in their Bouvardia restaurant where the food is gorgeous! Really beautifully presented and the staff were all great. Once you’re done with dinner they also have an honesty bar where you can help yourself to whatever drink you like and sit in their cosy front room.
We visited the restaurant again in the morning for breakfast which was 10/10. They have a ‘help yourself’ station with fresh fruits, cereals and yogurts and then you can also get a hot breakfast too. We went for the eggs royale and the fruit English.. both great!
Overall we had a really lovely stay here and would definitely return.

Last night we stayed at Bathen House boutique hotel and it surpassed all expectations. Firstly, it has free on-site parking which is often hard to come about in city hotels. On arrival we were greeted by the exceptionally friendly staff there and given the key to our room. The room was stunning with high ceilings and elegant chandeliers. We had a super king bed which was very spacious. The room had all the usual amenities as well as a lovely package with some sweet treats (such a nice extra touch!) We got an uber into the city which cost less than £7 and was only 10 minutes (It was about 30 minutes walk into the centre). The breakfast was served from 8am-10am in their restaurant Bouvardia and had a range of continental options as well as a hot breakfast. The full English was fresh with quality ingredients and I opted for the eggs florentine with a delicious hollandaise. If I were looking for somewhere to stay in Bath I would definitely return here!

Good parking with space at the front and rear of the hotel. Easy check in and electronic door key. We started off in Room 2 which had a bed, a comfortable chair and a well appointed bathroom up to the standard for this level of hotel. There is some daytime noise from the fountain but this goes off overnight from 8pm until 10pm. Unfortunately our tv had a blue tinge and our safe wasn’t working so the guy in reception promised to get it sorted next day. When we got back next day they were the same and the helpful young lady moved us to Room 10 which is bigger with a settee upstairs and had a working tv and safe. Quite a nice room with windows each end. And lots of room. There are no cupboards in the rooms but there are shelf units and a clothes hanger on the wall. The safe is half size which won’t fit an iPad but fits a Kindle. Breakfast was in the conservatory which is very pleasant and you can watch activities in the car park. Breakfast was the usual hotel fare and very satisfying. We had one evening meal in the Bouvardia Restaurant. We were given the five course menu but the starters arrived without the amuse bouche or the bread. We had wine, coffee and sweets and a rather strange bill. The food was great, certainly up to expectations, and the wine was pretty good.

We loved our stay at Bathen House, the service was very attentive, the rooms were very spacious, and the place itself was beautiful.
Complimentary snacks and drinks – there were complimentary cookies, sweets, water and fizzy drinks in our room, a lovely touch! There was also a large tea/coffee/hot chocolate selection.
Bathroom – the bathroom was amazing! A huge (and really cool) bath, lots of mirrors, and generous amounts of individual bodywash, shampoo, etc
Good size room – our room was very spacious, the bed very very comfy, and it was lovely to have a fan in the room.
Breakfast – we had breakfast included, pastries, fruit, cereal, and yoghurt were help yourself. We both had an English breakfast, and portions and food quality were exceptional! The large pot of filter coffee for our table was a good boost for the morning.
Location – on the outskirts of Bath meant a quiet night’s sleep with no interruptions, but still very easy to wander into Bath the next day.
Bathen House was very romantic, perfect for our couple's night away. And they did not skimp on anything – food, supplies, or towels!
We had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant connected to the hotel, would recommend!
Thank you Bathen House, can’t wait to come back soon!

Hi. Thanks for choosing to book with us! We would of course recommend our lovely in-house restaurant Bouvardia, which serves great fresh dishes using locally sourced ingredients. However we are more than happy to recommend other venues nearby, feel free to get in touch with us directly and we will help you out!
Hi. As of 2 weeks ago we have a small but perfectly formed drinks list available. Wines to local ciders and cognac to rosé lemonade. Hopefully we’ll see you again. 😊
