We booked for 7 nights to attend the Persephone Literary Festival and enjoy a first visit to Bath. Welcome at the front door was excellent and help with our suitcases most welcome. Our room was beautifully decorated, warm and comfortable, but the wardrobe tiny and no drawers to store our clothes. Management instantly responded and provided us with additional storage. Breakfasts are impressive, in the breadth of the offer and helpful service. The staff team are super-helpful and friendly, and the location is excellent for easy pedestrian access to the centre of Bath. Would definitely return another time.

Hotel's Favourite
OK, full disclosure: we adore this place and have stayed here many times over the years. We love visiting Bath, and would never stay anywhere else. And at the risk of it getting over-popular and having no room for us (!), we absolutely recommend Dukes to any discerning traveller. There are so many good things to say, and nothing negative that we have ever found. So here are some of the reasons why you should stay at Dukes. LOCATION: The location is absolutely brilliant, just a short walk from Pulteney Bridge, the Abbey, the Holburne, Sydney Gardens, and the historic centre. Parking is tricky in Bath, but the team have made very convenient and safe arrangements - ask them. STAFF: The people here are wonderful. The welcome is the perfect balance of warm but non-intrusive; nothing is ever too much trouble. Everyone goes the extra mile to ensure your comfort, from the owner, Carol, who is often on hand, to reception staff, breakfast staff, chambermaids - all so kind and helpful. COMFORT: We have stayed in quite a few of the 17 rooms, sometimes in luxury (try the room called 'Norfolk' - wow!), sometimes not so much. In each case, they are beautifully furnished and maintained, and every need is taken care of. There's no lift in this historic building (and can never be, as it's listed!), but there are very comfortable rooms on the ground floor if climbing stairs is an issue. You will truly feel home from home. BREAKFAST: This is the stuff of dreams. There's no restaurant for the evening, and no need for one: innumerable great restaurants are within ten minutes' walk. The owners are right to specialise in making utterly gorgeous breakfasts. How do they make scrambled egg like silk? We've been coming since 2015, and it's just as good every time. How do they do that? But you could have anything off the list and be absolutely delighted. BUILDING: Well, just look at the pictures. Who wouldn't want to stay here? It's the apotheosis of Bath, one of a row of beautiful buildings that line Great Pulteney Street. If you want to feel like Jane Austen, or a character from Bridgerton, this is for you. To tell the truth, half the reason we love coming back to Bath is to ome and stay at Dukes. So this is a rave review of an absolutely terrific place. Coming to Bath? There's absolutely no reason to stay anywhere else.

Many, many thanks for taking the time to write a kind and very informative ‘rave review’. You have shared only positive and generous thoughts on every aspect. For those who would welcome a balanced review, please note our vast sash windows often rattle, the floors creak though rarely disturbs other, the cantilevered balustraded stairwell may prove a challenging ascent. However, all in all, we are supported by a terrific team who love to enhance the stay of every visitor to Bath. Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you both back to Bath!!

Well this is the best value for money I've ever experienced. The staff are polite, curtious, very knowledgeable of the local area and extremely helpful. We stayed for one night on the top floor and the room was clean and very comfortable. Parking was a short walk away in the local church carpark and cost a small donation. Breakfast was sensational. We really enjoyed our time here and shall return. The owner is lovely and very helpful. Thank you 😊

Truly deserved 5 points. If you want to stay in a beautiful Georgian town house the Dukes is the place to be. Impressively spacious rooms with historic decor and excellently maintained. You feel like in a scene of Pride & Prejudice. Carol the owner and Alexander at reception are warmly welcoming and very helpful when it comes to planning your stay. The Dukes comes highly recommended and is the place to stay in Bath.

What a lovely B&B, we have just stayed here for 3 nights and this is the best hotel we have stayed in. Carol (owner) and her team were lovely, nothing too much trouble, the breakfast was excellent. Our room was lovely too, we had a double room on the first floor. For those with mobility problems you will find that the risers on the stairs are deep but shallow in height so getting up and down isnt too much of a problem. We were due to attend a wedding at the Guildhall, within walking distance but the kind young man on Reception ordered a taxi for us. Location was great, lots of restaurants on hand, we chose a nice Italian down the road on our first night then a drink in the hotel bar afterwards. We will be back! Thank you so much, everything was perfect.

A beautiful hotel not far from the centre of Bath. The room was warm and cosy, although we didn’t have much of a view we still enjoyed our stay. The staff are so lovely and welcoming, and nothing is too much for them. Breakfast is amazing and such a variety for everyone. We will definitely return.

Customer service was stellar. Our favorite breakfast! We also think the beds were our favorite of our entire stay. Just charming hospitality, and we really appreciate Roman, Alexander, and the 2 ladies who helped us too. They recommended the mayors walking tour (which we LOVED) and were so kind with luggage storage on arrival and departure. Highly recommend!

I cannot praise (and thank) the staff enough at The Dukes in Bath. The service extended to me and my two daughters was exceptional: nothing was too much trouble. In particular, one of our party was a little unwell, so stayed in bed rather than taking breakfast (which itself was outstandingly good!) and they put together a special tray to take to her room. She was so grateful... But there were in fact too many small gestures to mention, and I will be back for certain.

Absolutely terrible! Found a decent amount of pubic hair in the sink, a lovely array of hair from the head. My kids bed was infested in little black creepy crawleys. Skid marks all around the toilet bowl. Phoned reception for the wifi password and got told to figure it out ourselves. Out of all the beautiful rooms, dining hall, reception, this bedroom let the hotel down. Walked in with high expectations and left with two grumpy daughters and a disappointed mother. was planning to have a nice trip with the husband Geoff but wouldn’t ever plan on coming back to this place again . Best regards Shanan Bromlow.

Everything was just perfect. They couldn't do enough for us. Myself and my husband were celebrating a milestone birthday and wedding anniversary. Dukes had everything we were looking for, value for money, immaculately clean, location, beautiful period hotel, large bedroom suite brimming over with gorgeous English charm and character. The service was impeccable. A wonderful breakfast with everything and more you could expect. What a wonderful experience. We will most definitely be back. Thanks again for a truly memorable stay.

Thank you for choosing to share the milestone Birthday and Wedding Anniversary with us here at Dukes. Bath offers up a wonderful back drop for cornerstone celebrations. A stroll along Great Pulteney Street, passing over Pulteney Bridge is a wonderful experience. Delighted that in a small way we enhanced your celebrations and that you found all to be in order!
