My husband and I went to stay at the MacDonalds Spa on 3rd January after a hectic Christmas. We arrived early and booked in , as we were booking in the receptionist said we could have an upgrade to a suite with no extra charge. We couldn’t go to the room until later in th afternoon it wasn’t a problem aswe were going into Bath . The concierge asked us if were going into town and offered us a map. He highlighted places of interest which was really helpful. On our return we went to our suite and as absolutely amazed. There was a large lounge which as decorated beautifully, a bathroom with 2 sinks a free standing bath, toilet and a large showe, it also had a large tv. Our bedroom had a big 4 poster bed . The only thing we didn’t like was that there was a fancy coffee machine but no tea facilities. I don’t drink coffee. We rang down to order tea in our room. It was immediately brought up. E booked a 3 course meal in the restaurant. The staff were very attentive and the food was beautiful. Next morning we went down to the spa and had a swim and went through to the outdoor jacuzzi hot pool, followed by the different saunas and cold and hot showers. Last time we visited 2 years ago you had to order a cooked breakfast but this time it was out to help yourself. I wanted a fried gg with my fry up but there was only scrabbled egg on the table. One of the waitresses heard me saying I wanted a fried egg and said we can order them which we weren’t told by the waiter who served us. The breakfast was good. Could have done with hash browns. We had a lovely time and e both felt relaxd after our visit. Can’t wait till next year.

So we Stayed at MacDonalds Spa Bath for an evening. When we arrived at 11:45, we were told our rooms were not available until 3 which we knew as long as we could use the facilities while waiting. We could use the spa facilities at 12, so we took good use of that until 3 the Spar pool area was ok. I think in certain areas it may have needed attending to so as you come out of the changing rooms to the door that leads you to the pool the door is rotten at the bottom which is only a minor thing but I feel it did need attending to when it came to 3 we went to reception to get our keys the reception lady gave us our keys and explain there is a charge of £15 for parking. I actually wasn't happy about this as we were staying and to be charged for parking in their car park while we stay there overnight I thought wasn't good. The £15 charge for parking was then deducted.
We then entered our standard double room which was very clean and tidy and I was happy with the room .That evening we went down for dinner as we had a package dinner included in the price and breakfast. The dinner was lovely more like an a la carte. So not big portion small portion but the flavours and the food was amazing. We had venison. I highly recommend this. I then ordered a cheese board as the main meal was still quite small so I thought I would have the cheese board the cheeses were lovely, but the 6 crack they provided were all the same which is fine, but they actually looked and tasted like cardboard. When i mentioned this to a youbg lady that night she mwntioned that a few people have said the same. So i couldnt underatand why they were still giving theses cardboard tasting crackers to people when they know a dew people have complained about them. Please be aware that you only get an allowance of £30 for dinner each, but just one of the main is just about that price. So if you like a starter or Pudding you will have to pay the charges on top. The next day for breakfast we were so impressed with the quality of the breakfast so all in all the service we received was excellent. We would like to thank Helen on reception for sorting out car parking charges, which I didn't agree with I'd like to thank patrycja, Patrick, Carla and Especially the chef Paul who made me some fried eggs and presented it. Well. I know they were only eggs, but he even put a decorative leaf on them so overall. I would say the service we received from the staff especially the ones I have mentioned was outstanding hotel was beautiful and it's about 10 to 15 minutes walk down the hill to the town. Would we stay here again yes for sure.

This is a lovely Georgian property on the outskirts of Bath city centre, an easy ten minute walk to the sights. We managed to get this hotel on a deal price which was very good value. Parking on site costs and extra £15 a night and is probably worth it as it is relatively secure and takes the hassle out of driving around the city which is not easy. The reception area is large, with friendly staff who wore masks. Sanitizer is available in the reception and the lifts, which are limited to one 'bubble' at a time. There is a clearly marked socially distanced system on the floor. Our room was sealed to ensure it had been thoroughly cleaned and it was spotless. We had a large corner room with a comfortable double bed, air conditioning which was great as Bath was 34C when we were there, a fridge, complimentary water, tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and ironing board, safe, dressing gowns and slippers, great wifi and TV. The bathroom was superb, with lots of shelving and mirrors, an excellent bath/shower and excellent toiletries, there is even a speaker in the ceiling. The hotel is set in a lovely set of gardens. We had dinner in the hotel, which was good, and reasonably priced and the service was good. The only slight complaint was that when we checked out, someone else had charged their lunch to our room, but the receptionist quickly waved this but did not apologize. Sadly we did not have enough time to use the spa. Overall we had a really good stay.

So I decided to take my partner here his homecoming from deployment/birthday I really wanted it to be special so pre emailed reservations team to ask about the package I booked a WE TIME package, I received a lovely detailed email from a senior sales advisor Emma.. however, arriving after stressful journey from South Wales due to storm Dennis, I was glad to arrive safely and get into our room and start our celebrations, checking in I mentioned the package and nothing was said about lazy breakfasts or late check out and then to top it off there was no chilled prosecco, we had to sit in the room until a key arrived due to technical issues (which happens and I get that) but the fact I’ve read many reviews saying how you’ve left a bottle of bubbly in their rooms and here I am paying for a package with one included and got nothing, that really wasn’t fair, so when the key arrived I mentioned it to the girl but I felt as if she was confused as to if she had no clue if there should be one in our room and I was ordering room service!! Any way to add to this, nothing came until my partner rang and asked for it again, it really spoilt the surprise! Positive criticism: If you pay for something surly you should train your staff to know what’s included in a package and what isn’t.

The rest of our stay was lovely, the spa is out of this world, using the pool after dark was great, the spa rooms were all clean and working. Definitely was the highlight of our stay.

The food was gorgeous tried pigeon for the first time and was pleasantly pleased, cooked to perfection, surprised how full I felt after our 3 course. The waiter (sorry can’t remember his name) was exceptional, really offered his assistance to my partner over the best red wine as he doesn’t like many, it felt like we were important and kept our glasses full which is 5* treatment.

We stayed in the quieter end, in a deluxe super room near the suites, lovely four poster bed, few scuffs around the room but nothing major, it was clean, warm and very comfortable, the bathroom was beautiful too! Everything you need was supplied.
Arriving for breakfast was a dream ( 9:10) we used the secondary area with the fountain after I realised there was a huge que for the main dining hall, I used the toaster in there and picked up a few extra bits that wasn’t in the secondary breakfast area, kind of felt sorry for the people queuing to be honest!

I was hoping to use to use the 10% from the direct booking, off the parking charge but upon checking out I was told this can only be used on food/drink, another positive criticism would be: maybe you should remind your guests about the 10% if you’ve booked direct to take it off the bill, which didn’t happen with us!

All in all we had a lovely stay just the unnecessary bits let you down hence my four * if only staff knew what the we time package consists of and be a little bit more helpful with reminders.
I wouldn’t ever book this package again due to not getting what you pay for. I would highly recommend the spa and we will stay again and next time I’ll bring my own prosecco ;)

We have visited this hotel before and delighted in the spa facilities offered but noted the slow service. Because of Covid you now have to book access to both pools which have a small allowance of people. So in a four day stay we only managed one session indoors and two outdoors. This meant plans had to be made around the bookings and it was not very relaxing living by the clock. Access to dining was also restricted with times not available in the early evening (first available 8.45pm). Trying to get room Service on the phone was impossible. I realise that things are out of the Hotels control within these areas but when you are paying for these facilities through the price of the room it does rankle.
Observation of covid compliance was sketchy. The rooms were sealed prior to our stay but watching the room staff although masks were used, gloves were not. There was no clothing protection in use so pathogens could be carried between rooms and the bedding and room stock refill trolleys were left for long periods unattended in the corridors. Very little cleaning of the communal areas was observed except first thing of the morning.
Table wiping was by way of a reusable cloth (I believe a single use paper towel is better) with a spray cleaner. The same staff removed the plates as set up the tables with no use of hand sanitizing being observed between tables or use of aprons or other removable clothing.
The worse observation of this was at this mornings breakfast (28/08/20). They appeared to be understaffed and a receptionist and maybe a cleaner were drafted into help. Neither were wearing face masks. The receptionist saw the guests in, seated them at their tables and took the order. Again the same staff who cleared the plates set up the tables with no hand sanitizing inbetween.
At check out neither receptionist was wearing a face mask.

We booked this as a quick break because our lovely Mauritius holiday had been cancelled. We would not normally splashout this much on a short break but felt it necessary. The grounds are stunning. (I had met a friend here for coffee several years ago and had often thought about staying at the hotel sometime). the booking process was fairly straightforward. When we arrived, we were checked in fairly easily and were asked to book a breakfast slot. We managed to get 07:45 on both days. We were pleased about this as we are early risers. We had room 408. There was a seal on the door which suggested the room had been cleansed and sanitised. Disappointingly, cleaning standards were poor. Window sills and skirting boards were very dusty. The bathroom had stains on the door and the door handle was very grubby. The handbasing was cracked and dirty. The bidet taps dripped constantly and there was no plug. At over £200/night, I would expect much better. The building is old and tired and smells a bit stuffy. Where is the maintenance team? That leaking tap is wasting so much water!! Breakfast was very mediocre. The cooked breakfast seemed like it had been warmed up. Continental breakfast is a tiny 80g pot of yogurt. There was no soft fruits only fruit salad (which does not go well with yougurt). I didnt
try the danish pastries. The dining room is vast and cold ....some quiet background music could soften the austere atmosphere. On the second morning we were greeted by David. His customer service skills were outstanding. Even in the current trying times, I feel the hotel cold take a lot from David's example. The really annoying thing is that the hotel is still charging 20%VAT - an insult on top of the very poor standards.

Booked to stay here 2 months in advance for a birthday gift for my partner, upgraded our room and also asked for balloons and chocolates to be put in the room as a surprise.

When we arrived we were an hour early but we watched the football in the bar so not an issue. When we were in the bar it took 20 minutes from the time we ordered our drink to the time it was served to us, despite everyone around us having been served theirs. We had to remind 2 different waitresses that we had ordered a drink and neither of them were helpful.

When the drinks finally arrived we ordered a Camembert which came with bread. After 15 minutes the food arrived and the bread was rock solid to the point I couldn’t chew it. We asked a waitress for some different bread on the side (was happy to pay for it) but again, 25 minutes later and 3 reminders later the bread turned up by which point the Camembert was cold and hard. When we told the waitress she just went ‘oh ok’ and walked off. I then complained to reception about the poor service and she reassured me they will take the food off the bill and cook us a new Camembert for the inconvenience. A new Camembert shortly followed and so did the bill, charging us for the Camembert and the bread we received late the first time. As we didn’t want to make any more of a fuss as it had already ruined the afternoon we just paid the bill.

I then went to check in and asked the receptionist ‘Just double checking the balloons and chocolates I organised are in our room’ to which she reassured me they were. We got to our room and there was nothing, as you can imagine I was really upset because it was a surprise I had organised for my partner to make him feel special and yet another thing had gone wrong and at this point there was no point even complaining as the special moment had passed.

The room was ok, although we were supposed to have bath robes and slippers, no slippers were provided. The TV remote for the TV didn’t work at all so we had to control the TV by the buttons at the side of it.

I paid the extra for breakfast the next day and when we turned up our room number or name wasn’t on the list. The service was better, they were a lot quicker but when the cooked breakfast arrived it was dry, no taste at all and wasn’t worth paying extra for.

I came away from this night away feeling really upset and disappointed that something I had booked to be so special was quite the opposite. The hotel itself is a beautiful hotel but the lack of customer service was bad enough to ensure I will never book at this hotel or any of its partner hotels again.

Booked through spa a old friend and I had a one night stay, two spa treatments, two course meal, breakfast and use of all of the amenities. For the price we paid I thought what we experienced was exstremely good value.

Very attentive staff, specially the sir at reception who made a extra effort to see if our room was ready before check in and carried our suitcases up.

The hotel is well kept and very British bath regal. The hotel room which was one of their standards felt much more then that with all the fine details. The bathroom large and clean with speakers of what is playing on our tv in the bathroom. Found that quite novel.

The spa was excellent.
Super super awesome.
My 30 min massage and facial was exactly what I needed. My only regret is that we didn’t book more so I recommend you do.

Had a delish meal. And being a chef myself the dinner was beautifully prepared. Hotel food can be hit or miss and it was a hit. Cocktails nicely made. Again staff in the restaurant very attentive even though it was busy.

Slept like a baby.
Lovely fresh but soft linens.
Good mattress and very good pillows. Everything smelt fresh.

Got up early and used the gym, it’s nice there is water fountains everywhere! The outside hot tub is otherworldly, however I wouldn’t want to use it in summer as you could cook pasta in it the water was so hot but with the icely cool air it felt amazing.

It’s nice the swimming pool inside is kept nice and cool as to not over heat.
The range of different saunas were excellent too. Really enjoyed every moment.
The hotel gardens are super pretty too, a real pleasure to walk round the labyrinth of the hotel. It was a bit like being in another tome. And in this crazy intense modern world where everything can be rushed and harsh I really appreciated everything our weekend gave us.
I look forward to my next visit.

We stayed for two nights at the hotel and could
Not recommend it highly enough!
Beautiful building very clean and clear Covid guidelines and precautions in place. Although it is annoying having to pay the parking fee this is made very clear when you book so shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The room was lovely. Big. Clean. Well equipped with refreshments and toiletries. Staff were friendly and approachable. Spa and pool were lovely. Everything was very clean and due to booking your own slot we were able to use all the different sauna/steam rooms without waiting.
Breakfast was very nice. Good choice good portion and good service!
Absolutely no negatives with our stay and we would love to return!

We visited for a Spa weekend for a 50th Birthday celebration.
It was unfortunate that during our first couple of hours at the hotel we were evacuated from the spa due to a fire, which had reportedly started from a boiler in the plant room.
Throughout this experience staff were efficient, caring and did their utmost to keep everyone updated & warm, whilst the fire service and electrician dealt with the fire and ensured it was safe for us to return a couple of hours later.
Whilst we never actually managed to have our spa treatments, our overall reflection of the spa facilities were that they were tied, there were tiles missing in the pool area and mould in the ladies shower area.
There did not present to be many Covid preventative cleansing measures being taken in the pool/spa area.

Our room was large & roomy, well decorated and equipped with a small balcony & air conditioned.

Staff within the dining and bar areas were polite, attentive and went out of their way to enhance our dining experience.
Unfortunately the standard of the food was mediocre. Full English breakfast for example had basic not premium sausages as stated, eggs were very pale in colour and undercooked and black pudding very dry.

Whilst the room was lovely, we unfortunately did not have the spa experience we hoped for this special occasion.
Spa costs were refunded & we received some complimentary additions from our final bill, which were much appreciated. However this was a disappointing experience for us both.

We were advised we could both use the parking facilities and the spa on the day of check in and also the day of check out. The parking was extremely convenient! An easy walk into the town. We decided to shop and skipped the pamper so I cannot comment on the spa facilities.

Hi, we stayed here weekend of 21st August. Parking is plentiful and free, we arrived at midday. Check out is 11.00 and we drove home at 14.00 without a charge. The walk in to bath is approximately 20 minutes through a park although an additional 5 minutes walk back as the park was without public lighting at night. We only ate lunch which was good at the hotel as there is such a vast choice of restaurants in the city. The pool facilities do not require booking so take advantage of the sauna, ice room and indoo/outdoor pools
