The Kennard is a Boutique Bed & Breakfast, on Henrietta Street, in the centre of Bath. It was built in 1794, the golden age of Bath's Georgian elegance. The Kennard offers twelve recently re-furbished and individually decorated rooms over five floors. Most of Bath's iconic tourist attractions - The Roman Baths, The Bath Abbey, The Bath Thermae Spa are all a short walk away. Within walking distance are also some of the best restaurants and shopping venues Bath has to offer. We hope you will visit us and enjoy the experience of staying in one of Bath's original Georgian townhouses with service and accommodation that truly reflects this beautiful city’s social history and culture.

My wife and I have recently stayed at The Kennard. Overall we were very pleased; the room was comfortable & clean and the girl we spoke to on arrival (and who also dealt with breakfast) was very polite and friendly. The Kennard is in a very quiet area a few minutes walk from the centre of Bath so very convenient. The only niggle was to do with their breakfast, which is trumpeted as ‘Award Winning’. So …no pastries,a single block of Cheddar cheese but no cold meats or breads to eat with it. No fruit. Some browning fruit cocktail. No yoghurt. Cooked breakfast was no better than my work canteen. It obviously wasn’t cooked to order and had been sat on hot plates as evidenced by the thick crust on the bottom of the sausages and the very dry bacon. It makes no difference using good local produce if you treat it like that. It was that poor we went out for breakfast the next morning. So overall…nice, comfortable, friendly and convenient place to stay but the poor breakfast would make us think twice about returning unfortunately.

Property's Favourite Review
It was our first visit to Bath and I arranged this stay for myself and my husband for a birthday surprise, I had high hopes after reading reviews and I was not disappointed. Position…. One of the first streets just off Pulteney bridge, great position for a easy short walk into the centre although I must state that we parked in Charlotte street long stay car park one that this hotel suggests and it is a good 15/20 minute walk right on the other side of town, it didn’t bother us as we are pretty fit and had wheelie over night bags. Rooms…. We stayed in one of their superior rooms and it was spotless, a really comfy bed, lovely luxurious, elegant decor i keeping with Bath in general which felt like a real treat rather then a more characterless corporate room. Lovely touches like homemade shortbread biscuits, really decent tea and coffee and I ordered a bottle of prosseco for the room which was waiting for us in a lovely ice bucket. Staff… the ladies were lovely, so nice, friendly, polite and professional, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast…. Was another level, the table wear was authentic and in keeping with the whole hotel, silver tea pots, beautiful fresh white linen and napkins that are changed immediately ready for the next guest with no fuss, a beautiful cold buffet with pastries, yogurt and granola, fresh fruit and juices, the cooked breakfast was delicious, thick smoked bacon, a tasty sausage, all ingredients are high end and cooked to perfection, the lady was so attentive even bringing us extra toast when requested, I don’t know what tea they use but it was the best cup of tea I’ve ever had, we would literally go back just for the breakfast, it was second to none! This hotel was exactly what you would wish for, for a stay in Bath. Would highly recommend this for a memorable place to stay for all the right reasons x

Response from Kennard Bath, Owner at The Kennard
Responded 7 Jun 2023
Dear April, Your review blows us away! To say we are delighted, is an understatement. We are honored of the description - "perfect place to stay in Bath" and that you have chosen to stay with us for your birthday suprise. We are very fortunate with our location in Bath - just a short walk from most tourist attractions, some of the best dining and shopping venues of Bath and easily accessible on foot from the train and bus station. The Kennard is one of the best addresses to stay in while visiting Bath. Thank you for appreciation of our rooms and breakfast - we hope all your comforts were met and we indulged you with our breakfast offering. The team at The Kennard while offering a warm welcome and attentive service, will also be more than happy to recommend activities, make table reservations at recommended restaurants. So, please just ask! We hope you are having the best summer and will think of visiting us again. Till then, we send our very best! Kind regards

Excellent hotel in a fantastic location very close to the centre. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was the best we have had. Car parking was very close in the Podium car park a 5 minute walk away.

So glad we chose The Kennard. 10 min walk from railway, a very scenic walk by the river but maybe better doing that when you know your way around. Having to walk over Pultney Bridge which we did often during our two night stay, lovely shops pub restaurant etc. 2 mins from Kennard. We received a very warm welcome from Christina who took our case to our room as we were early. Check in online is so simple and handy. We returned in the evening after a lovely time shopping the numerous bookshops pubs and restaurants all 15mins away. We were on the 3rd floor so a slowish climb upstairs but got to check out the Honesty Bar which we never used. Lovely room ,great White Company toiletries bottles of water and lovely homemade shortbread. After a good nights sleep we enjoyed the excellent breakfast, what a menu. Served by friendly Eli. We enjoyed our stay in Bath and The Kennard added to our exceptional visit. We stay quite a distance away but hope to return here in the future but we’ll maybe book a room on lower floor.

We were only here for one night but it was a perfectly pleasant experience. The young lady at the concierge desk was super friendly and went out of her way to assist with any requests. Historical building so no elevator. The breakfast was tasty and the location was super close to the center of town.

What a great place! The room was lovely, clean, and comfortable. Location was quiet but still only a few minutes walk to get to the center of everything. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Katrina in reception. Breakfast was included, and was delicious. Cooked to order and served in a beautiful room. We were very pleased and would definitely return.

The room was compact, but very clean and modern. The area is very quiet and we had no trouble sleeping. The location is only a few minutes to the Camden high street but much less chaotic than the other place we tried. There’s always someone at the door to help and to provide an extra layer of security. Nothing luxurious but again, well-equipped, clean, modern, and comfortable. We will return when we come to visit our daughter again.

The Kennard is a very good historic property just outside the heart of Bath. If you book with breakfast included (which I recommend you do), you'll get a delicious start to your day! Rooms are very nice and I appreciate that they had some USB outlets, which was nice as an international traveler as I didn't need to worry about having an outlet converter. The property is located just off of Great Pulteney Street, and you're within a 15 minute walk of almost every major tourist attraction in Bath. However, Henrietta Street itself is very quiet, so it feels like more of an escape. Be sure that you are able to climb stairs, as due to the historic nature of the property you will need to climb stairs to get to breakfast and/or your room. I would definitely stay here again!

A small family run guest house with a lovely ambiance and feel from the moment you enter. The staff we met were friendly and the lack of dedicated check in staff was not an issue as the access codes and keys allow seemless access to the property. The presence of an 'honesty' bar is a lovely idea and the breakfast was good

Beautiful room, very tasty breakfast, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Great location, only a short walk to the centre of Bath. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the homemade shortbread waiting for me when I arrived in the room!
