Staying with lots of friends and good to see everyone. Rooms are fine but food is a bit iffy. Had a poor dinner last night although the dessert was good. Service is generally okay but despite having lots of staff in the dining room at breakfast we had to keep asking for tea! The bar wasn't always manned either which...

As a country house hotel this hotel is an excellent choice if you are visiting Bath and the surrounding area, including Downside Abbey. Well appointed rooms, comfortable beds and a new lift. Two choices of where to eat, the restaurant or the bar. Faux open fire in the bar adds to the ambience. Service is efficient. The restaurant offers great...

Stayed 1 night. Great surroundings, excellent staff and good value breakfast. Very convenient for Bath. Only criticism was that the room decor was looking tired with a crack in the shower tray. Good pub within easy walking distance by the hotel entrance.

Overall we enjoyed some down time from driving here. The bar food and wine were great and it was peaceful in the beer garden. Unfortunately the lift was out of order and we had to lug our 30kg cases up and down rickety old stairwells to the top floor. Room was loft type, very small but reasonably comfortable bed.

Central Bath hotels are in general not very good or very very expensive or both. Staying here just 4 miles away is the answer - great value, nice appointed hotel, well managed with friendly staff and good food. Despite a slightly slow check in (they were very busy) and catering for 5 Christmas parties) I got friendly, patient and attentive...

Wasn't just staying, was at a party here as well.. hotel is rather old school looking and in a beautiful area just outside Bath. Rooms were a little dated and the bathroom wasn't great but it's all in keeping with the hotel. Beautiful old fixtures and fittings. Unlike the last reviewer we slept just fine! Drinks at the bar were...

Dark, dirty and run down hotel!! Tiny and uncomfortable beds and no control over guest at 3am drinking, shouting and smashing bottles outside! Fine in a city centre but in the countryside you expect a bit more. I complained but no one cared in the slightest. 3 stars should be 1 at best.
