Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a lovely one night stay here. I was a bit dubious because of some of the negative reviews I had read but I've decided they were just being picky. It might only be a 3 star hotel but the cleanliness and hospitality was better than the 4 and 5 star hotels we've stayed in. The room was very spacious, clean and warm. Hot drinks, biscuits, chocolates and a bottle of water we're in the room when we arrived. We didn't get chance to eat at the Royal so I can't comment on that but the drinks prices were very reasonable. We did have a small issue and we reported to reception which they handled very professionally. We will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: Only got a 5 space car park at hotel but 2 car parks are just 2 to 3 minutes walk away.

This is a nice little hotel, it’s very conveniently position opposite the railway station and just a few minutes walk to the centre of Bath. The bar was very cosy & welcoming & bar food good as was the breakfast. Staff were friendly and pleasant. We had 2 rooms, one was recently refurbished and very clean but at the back of the hotel so friends staying in it were woken by early morning deliveries. Ours was at the front a little bit faded but very clean & comfortable & surprisingly quiet given its position, the radiator in the bathroom wasn’t working so it was rather cold in there ( reported to reception when we left & they seemed concerned & said would look into immediately). I would definitely stay in this hotel again as it was reasonably priced too.

Stayed at the Royal for one night whilst visiting the Christmas markets. Fab location right opposite the train station. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Fast check in, lovely friendly receptionist. Breakfast was delicious, so hot and and fresh. Bar service was excellent. Would highly recommend and will be definitely staying here again on our next visit to Bath.

Location is very good, and does not suffer from to much noise at night. Room was cosy and nice (107), everything we needed was there ( very small observation not complaint, in the wardrobe could not hang many long items as small chest of drawers took the space). Breakfast was very nice. All staff encountered were very good, friendly and helpfull. Have stayed before quite a few years ago, which is why we booked, overall a nice stay with very competitive prices. Will come again.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights in August(well in advance) for november. They told us that they had reserved car parking for us but the evening before our arrival we had a telephone call stating they had double booked our car parking & they gave it to someone else & we had to pay local car parking prices but was assured by Tim the receptionist that we would be fully refunded for our inconvenience. The receptionist on duty the day we left knew nothing about this & only refunded partially.Very disappointed as i have mobility issues. The rooms need serious upgrading as the sofa was very stained & furniture was stuck together to repair.Would not recommend this hotel.

Room very comfortable. Room 109 which has a bath. Cafetiere with ground coffee was a nice touch. Friendly staff from reception to waiting staff. Staff turnover appears to be low. Restaurant food very good and well priced. Decent wine list at fair prices so a successful dining experience. Breakfast was cooked to order and it showed. Excellent.

A very good choice to stay here for a weekend in Bath. Just across the road from the railway station, easy walking to explore the city. Comfortable clean room, excellent breakfast with a large choice cooked to order. Lovely staff. Visited the sights here and in nearby Bristol by rail.

The hotel is well located, right next to the railway station and just a short walk into town. It is comfortable and clean, and the breakfast is good, but what makes it special is the lovely staff. They are welcoming and friendly and also very helpful and knowledgeable about Bath.
