Built of golden Bath stone, The Ayrlington is a large and handsome English Heritage listed building set in a splendid walled oriental garden with exceptional views of the City and its medieval Abbey. Bath's magnificent historic sites, speciality shops and excellent restaurants are all just a five minutes level stroll away. all 19 bedrooms have an individual theme and are beautifully furnished, some with four poster beds. The emphasis is on creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the centre of Bath's vibrant city centre. The Ayrlington has a licensed residents' bar, secure on-site private parking and is entirely non smoking. We cannot accept children under 5 years of age. The Ayrlington's ongoing commitment to quality has brought some well deserved and hard earned awards - five stars from Visit Britain, a listing in The Good Hotel Guide and multiple Bath in Bloom garden awards.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at the Ayrlington for two nights in late November which coincided with the start of the Christmas market. We had a lower ground room with amazing views of the garden and the Abbey beyond. The view at night was stunning as the Abbey was lit up.The bed was really comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. However the main thing that stood out for us was the fantastic team of staff working at the Ayrlington. From the staff at reception, to the breakfast team and housekeeping, the service they provided was second to none . We would have no hesitation in recommending the Ayrlington to our family and friends, and have already started spreading the word . Thank you for a wonderful few days.Special thanks toTeri, Menita, Zen and Paula.

Perfect position for visiting the centre. Only a few minutes walk and you were in the centre. Distance away meant hotel had a car park. The room was clean and tidy, and lovely view of the abbey, all lit up every night. Breakfast was gorgeous with all local sourced food. All the staff were very friendly, would visit again..

We have just stayed in this lovely hotel and were very impressed. We had the Garden Room. Clean and spacious with a nice walk in shower. However, lost a star because the lighting was dim making it tricky to get to ready and the room also smelled damp, it feels like it needs a good air/more air circulation. There were no signs of mould but we could definitely smell the damp and it was high humidity. The service was exceptional, all the staff were so helpful and polite. Really lovely. Breakfast was nice but my husband and I ordered the same thing yet they gave him a bigger portion which was a bit odd. We would definitely stay again but probably ask for a different room next time. Thanks for making our stay lovely.

Could not fault this hotel for our short break to Bath. We stayed in the Abbey room and enjoyed a fabulous view of the fireworks from our window. Lovely decoration, comfortable bed, friendly, helpful staff and excellent breakfasts made for the perfect stay. We paid for parking and didn’t need to move the car as the Ayrlington is near enough to Bath centre to walk easily.

This was a great location for exploring Bath. Overall it's a lovely guesthouse, perfectly clean and warm with a well equipped bedroom. The reception, bar staff and waiting staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were very disappointed with breakfast on both mornings of our two night stay. The full English breakfasts were served on very cold plates, the food was cold even before it reached our table. We did feedback to the waiting staff, who agreed with us and said other guests had said the same?!? I'm wondering if they are reluctant to feed anything back to the chef, as there was a constant stream of shouting and profanity from the kitchen both mornings.....perhaps he was channelling his inner 'Gordon Ramsey', but I very much doubt that Gordon Ramsey would repeatedly send out hot food on stone cold plates.

Top marks to this hotel. Room spacious, clean and comfortable. As for the breakfast, superb thank you chef. In a very good location that made getting into the town centre a very easy walk. All the staff we encountered were efficient and friendly. Would not hesitate to recommend. A special thank you to the receptionist that answered my call after we had checked out and got to our next stop. I couldn’t find my glasses and was getting a bit stressed so called. She kindly checked the car park then went to check our room to no avail. Then I found them having put them in an obscure pocket of my bag... Thank you so much for looking.

My daughter took me here for my birthday. I couldn’t have wished for better. The room was small but beautifully clean. The staff and customer service was better than anything I have experienced in the last few years. The breakfast was incredible and nothing was too much trouble the attention to customer needs was first class. The proximity to the centre of Bath was perfect. Parking in the hotel is extra at £10 a day which seems expensive but you would struggle to find parking in the city.

What a fantastic B&B 5***** everyone was so helpful. After walking the Cotswold way with a friend to walk into the room that was large and very inviting, the beds were amazing, the shower was wonderful, the breakfast was very good and white table clothes added to the presentation of this wonderful place. Easy walking distance to the centre of Bath. I would defiantly stay here again. Well done to all the staff.

The hotel staff were delightful and the room was very good. The sink in the shower room had a very wobbly tap and the glass shower door did not shut and was a nuisance when showering. The cooked breakfast was a disaster as the chef cooked bacon in the oven and mine was as dry as a bone and the eggs were so overcooked and presented in a very unappetising way! This was such a disappointment as the staff and hotel room were lovely. When you pay nearly £200 for a room you should be served a breakfast that has been cooked to a good standard. I did complain but no offer of a refund was forthcoming. I would not recommend the breakfast but the hotel was well situated and comfortable. Bath is a beautiful city.

I did a last minute booking and it was at a really competitive price compared to any other hotels near by. I was expecting it to be average (due to the really good price and last minute booking) but it was great! the room was fab, lots of nice extras, the staff were so friendly and flexible, great breakfast, parking. I would recommend highly. 5 stars and so reasonable and accommodating!
