The Milsom is Bath’s newest bar and restaurant with rooms, where country retreat meets city chic in a Grade II listed building. Two-tone timber and original Victorian tile flooring set the scene for a relaxed atmosphere, while crackled leathers and contemporary artwork sit alongside the original features of the former bank building. Whether you’re looking for a glass of champagne and oysters after shopping, a place to celebrate a special occasion or a luxurious base to explore all that Bath has to offer, The Milsom caters to all. Our sophisticated restaurant and bar is the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat, offering a range of expertly prepared gastro-pub style food, made using quality sourced ingredients (including steaks from renowned Scottish butcher John Gilmour). The secret garden offers an idyllic escape to while away a sunny hour or two and the extensive wine and cocktail list will ensure you are well catered for as you do. With nine beautiful bedrooms atop this listed former bank, it’s also the perfect place to stay. Located on Milsom street in the heart of Bath, the team look forward to welcoming you.

My company booked my stay , 1 Night B&B at this hotel £90. Rooms are accessed through the restaurant and keys handed over at the bar.
I was allocated Room 6 which was third floor of the accommodation, and simply given a key , which I was informed opened the side entrance door from the street out of hours.
The stairs to access the rooms were extremely steep and therefore not suitable for all guests.
My room was clean and of acceptable standard for the price given the location.
The bathroom was very tiered looking , the toilet unfortunately had some kind of issue as water was continually running from the cistern which proved very distracting later that night. There was no cold water to the hand basin , it was hot or warm from
both taps which prevented me from filling the kettle or getting a glass of drinking water.

There appeared to be no wi-fi or any information suggesting there was access for residents , which was frustrating as the 4G signal was extremely poor even at 3rd floor, so was unable to continue with work as planned.

Late evening the room was very stuffy so I opened the sash windows to get some air flow, however this then brought the sound of traffic from the neighbouring roads and revelry from people leaving pubs and bars on what I would have thought a quiet Tuesday place on a Tuesday evening. This continued through the early hours and never really settled owing to delivery vehicles accessing shops in the vicinity as early as 5:00am.

After little sleep I had an early start I had hoped to take breakfast at 7:00 although service started at 7:30am. There was no breakfast menu in the room, so not sure whether it was buffet service or not. I arrived with luggage at 7:35am ( to save going back up 3 flights of stairs). The restaurant was in darkness, there was nobody on the desk , then located to cooks in the open kitchen to enquire what the format was for breakfast. They said they had no gas in the kitchen and then raised the attention of a lady to speak with me. She explained they were not ready to serve breakfast and explained it was very early and couldn’t offer any food immediately. No suggestion of pastries , she had a tray of fruit and reluctantly took some with me as I couldn’t afford the time to wait.

To end this completely underwhelming stay I had to pay the room charge, there was no suggestion of any discount or real interest in my comments about the room.

I left feeling like I had inconvenienced the staff by staying, certain fact is I won’t be returning.

This has the potential to be a lovely hotel however we felt a few bits let it down. The room we had was number 3 on the second floor lovely room and great bathroom with freestanding bath. However the room was very dark even with lights on could do with another light / lamp it’s also opposite what appears to be a club and both nights we were woken up by patrons leaving. The towel didn’t work in the bathroom and the curtains were hanging down which we reported. Breakfast was very nice but I think the manager needs to work in his communication skills when we booked in he said breakfast is from 8 we are early risers and that was great Saturday and perfect to get up and off by 9 Sunday as we have a long journey however at 8:10 we were informed it was 9! Having returned at 9 it took 50 mins to get our breakfast!
Bath was especially busy due to the markets and was a great atmosphere but it was also hard to get into bars as they were so busy so it was also a shame the mgr didn’t mention as a resident of the hotel we may have to book a table for a drink in the hotel bar!
Overall a lovely weekend I think it was over priced for the quality at the service mainly by the manager (we assume) the female staff were all really helpful

We stayed here for a weekend visit to Bath. Great central location. Good car parking at the nearby “Podium”.
Impressive old bank building converted to a hotel. This old building doesn’t have a lift.
We were given a lovely warm welcome by Claire who checked us in and showed us to our room.
It was warm weather and we discovered our air conditioning was faulty and also that we couldn’t open the windows. We also had a faulty loo seat (room 5).
We reported this to Claire and several of the staff team then attempted to resolve the issues.
The aircon was actually faulty and needs servicing, but they managed to get the windows opening and they provided fans.
The loo seat issue needs a new part so couldn’t be fixed at the weekend.
The room was comfortable and clean, the bed was great and the bathroom was good (apart from the faulty loo seat).
The breakfast was excellent, also the restaurant and bar setting is very classy.
Overall a nice hotel with great staff, they are all friendly, professional and they work hard to look after their guests and they couldn’t do enough to try and help with our room issues.
The manager also offered an appropriate price adjustment at checkout for the inconvenience which was much appreciated.

Manager was very helpful and welcoming. We had one friend cancel last minute and he moved us to another room and refunded us for person who didn't turn up which I thought was so kind. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Loved the soap smell so much! Close to main areas so you can literally walk to everything. Would definitely stay here again!

Waiting staff were nice, but honestly the worst meal we’ve had ever. Meals were either cremated or dangerously undercooked. Dessert’s were a joke and looked like they had been made by a toddler. They need to sort the kitchen out or stop offering food until they can safely offer food.

The stars are for the poor waiting staff, who were obviously embarrassed. Lovely decor.

Overall our stay was absolutely fine. The staff were all really friendly, helpful and attentive and the location is great being in right in the centre of bath. As advertised the hotel is very much a restaurant/bar with rooms rather than just a Hotel and I think you do loose some of the charm and service because of this. The very hard working staff were having to juggle manning the front desk and serving customers in the bar/restaurant for example. Our room was fine but was on the small side and only has single glazing and so was very noisy on a saturday night with several bars on the street below. The breakfast was ok but not great. So we had a nice stay but I don't think the overall quality of the hotel justifies the price we paid so on that basis I won't be back and I wouldn't recommend it to others

Room was clean and warm overlooking the city. Service friendly and helpful, we would stay again.
As noted elsewhere, there is no lift and our room was up 74 steps, which is fine if you expect it (we did).
The lighting in the room wasn't great for reading after dark.
Breakfast is off a menu with good choice and quality and large portions.

Food was lovely but service was poor and needs improvement!
We ate here last night after visiting the Christmas Markets, we had booked in advance.
We were seated by what seemed to be the manager who made us aware of the dishes they were out of. Quite a while later the waitress came to take our order, our starters arrived before our drinks. Once we had finished the starters our drinks finally arrived however they were not what we ordered and the jug of water we ordered several times, we were still waiting on. The manager however did solve this quickly. Then our mains came out however the sides we had ordered failed to make it. There was only 3 of us so it wasn’t hard to remember. The restaurant was rather cold and lots of people were putting the coats on to eat including us which made it quite uncomfortable.
It seems to be the waitress needs to pay more attention to detail to the guests orders and their time management needs to be improved.
The food was lovely with no complaints however the service was rather poor and slow.
What we weren’t aware of was the 12.5% service charge added to the bill which we felt was definitely not acceptable for the service we received.
Overall the service needs a big improvement!

The decor is lovely but it ends there. Really soulless and quiet. Staff look fed up and disinterested and the food was really average especially for the price. Also doesn't really seem to know what it is. Scallops didn't taste fresh at all and non of the food was seasoned. We didn't finish our cocktails... no one asked why.

We visited The Milsom and found it relatively pleasant.

The food was ok, though it's more upmarket and there wasn't much on the plate so I finished within 5 minutes of it being served! Great flavours however.

There was a service charge of 12.5% and this is not mentioned on any of the menu's and we were not made aware of this. We were not asked if we'd like more drinks and during our time at The Milsom, we were just served our drinks and then our food. There wasn't much in the way of service and if I had noticed this charge before I'd paid- I would have asked to have it taken off.
I don't agree to paying a charge if I didn't receive any outstanding service, so feel this should be made at the customers discretion- not something that is added automatically.

The food and drink we're enjoyable, but we found this is more pricier than other GK establishments

I've not heard or read anything to the contrary but Bath Council has made the City centre so unwelcoming we've not been back. The Shops are closing, the traffic a nightmare and the parking is so confusing and expensive we've been neglecting the Bath restaurants and my husband has Blue Badge , you'd think that would help ! I hope you get fixed and if I can find anything out I will post here if I can.
