The Covenstead is an amazing, magical place to stay when you visit Glastonbury. The impressive building is listed, quite grand and full of curiosities and copious books on magic, myth and legend. Our location is perfect as it's on the main street with beautiful views onto the Abbey ruins and within walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants. We also serve a mean breakfast and cater for vegetarians/vegans.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fabulous house with a Gothic vibe, wonderful murals, exciting history and artifacts, mind-blowing furniture and accoutrements. A great place to stay up late reading tarot cards with new friends. Plush bedroom (lovers' suite) with deep, delightful bathtub. Tony is an affable and genuine person, great host. He cooks breakfast most mornings... Keep in mind that this place is booked solid on Hallowe'en for 2024 but there's always plenty to do and see in Glastonbury no matter what time of year. There's plenty to see and do at the Covenstead, too. I love this place and will return. Thanks!

Property's Favourite Review
If you like large, bland, corporate hotels with mass catered, unappertising breakfasts, then the Covenstead is not for you. If you enjoy quirky, interesting, clean and comfortable accommodation with an exceptional breakfast, cooked to order, then the Covenstead ticks all boxes. A wonderful venue with great staff - Tony et al provide exceptional but non obtrusive service. The Covenstead is packed with interesting objects and fascinating items of furniture. The bedrooms are large and the beds comfortable. All are ensuite and are themed to fit the genre of the Covenstead and Glastonbury generally. It's a flat 5 minute stroll into the town and a 2 minute stroll to the Abbey. Highly recommend for a very pleasant and unforgettable stay.

I couldn't recommend this place enough. Friendly before we arrived, as we arrived and right through until we left. You can tell the owner Tony has a proud passion for the place and his job...it shines through from the "decor" (doesn't even come close to begin to describe the collection), the food, the service...everything! We were blown away from the start, which is sometimes dangerous as you then feel let down when you find faults...that didn't happen. We will be back, 100% for sure. And don't even start me on that breakfast "Poached Eggs From The Forrest"... devilishly worth your soul!

A wonderfully beautiful, welcoming and friendly B&B, with a divine breakfast available. Tony is delightful and friendly. Kelli and I enjoyed our first nights in the UK together at this wonderful establishment. We both look forward to returning and staying here again.

Quite possibly the best B&B we have ever visited. Both the owner (Tony) and Freya made us feel immediately at home. Our room (Gold room) was truly sumptuous and had a truly unique feel. Breakfast menu was vast and cooked to order. Located within walking distance of all Glastonbury’s tourist attractions and of course Glastonbury Tor, we couldn’t be happier. This is not your average B&B, The Covenstead is an experience and a shining example of how to make your guests feel welcome. Five stars all round.

The Covenstead is my favourite place, we love coming back. 6 times now and already looking forward to coming back. Tony and the team are wonderful. Amazing bedroom, looking over the grounds of the Abbey. The breakfast is the best. Every time we go we look forward to it ,the standard is consistently high. Many places are just a base when you go away but this is so much more. We love the seating area out the back and reading the huge array of books. We always feel welcome this time was extra special as we got engaged on the Tor. We came back to see a rose and a note of congratulations had been left in our room. Such a lovely gesture made our stay even more special. Dont hesitate to stay here its perfect the hardest thing is leaving. Already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for all you do Tony and staff we will be back again hopefully before the year out. Much love Martin and Francesca

Wonderful B&B. My wife, 4 month old daughter & I stayed here for a single night on route from Yorkshire to Cornwall & wish we’d been able to stay longer. It’s a fascinating place, and the host was great - made us feel very welcome on our arrival. It’s excellently located - just a stones throw from the centre of Glastonbury, exceptionally clean & comfortable. The breakfast was lovely too! They really made an effort to accommodate our daughter & a baby of her age. She too had an excellent night sleep & our stay set us up perfectly for our onward journey & week in Cornwall.

This was our second stay at the Covenstead and utterly fabulous. We shall be returning. The first stay was in the Halloween room and this time the Handfasting room, both rooms are unique and interesting, but the Handfasting room was bright and airy, with a four poster bed, so perfect and gorgeous at this time of year. It overlooks the Abby gardens and is close to the High St, and a 20 minute walk to the Chalice gardens, so perfect location. Tony, Freya and staff are so friendly and welcoming and the b&b is exceptionally clean. Breakfast was delicious and a good offering for vegans and veggies. We are looking forward to our next visit and highly recommend this b&b which is like a mini museum and also the local restaurant Queen of Cups which do amazing middle Eastern vegan food. Thanks Tony, Freya and staff, we will be returning soon, a 10/10 experience.
