The hotel was basic but clean and more than adequate for our overnight stay. We booked a meal in the restaurant and the food was excellent as was the waitress Justine who was absolutely superb and made the evening.

I visited for one night stay with family. We ate in the restaurant, which was ok but not as good as other vintage inns we have visited. Our room was very big with a sofa bed for my son, which had a very thin mattress. The bathroom was also big with a walk in shower. The only issue we had... More

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting Lichfield. Room was much nicer than I expected and very clean. Had a good nights sleep and would stay here again. Continental breakfast was included in the price - nice toast, but not much choice beyond toast and cereal.

Really enjoyed our stay. A great place if you are looking for somewhere to stay while travelling elsewhere but a bit remote if you are visiting Lichfield. Had a lovely Steak 3 course meal for a very reasonable £20 per head which is a Saturday night special. Good room and friendly staff. Busy pub atmosphere with open fire. Would definitely... More

We spent a night here and initially we were impressed. We enjoyed a very nice evening meal with friendly staff and good food. However, although the bedroom was a nice size, the mattress was unbelievably lumpy and the mattress cover appeared to have a plastic backing which explained the heat overnight. The shower attachment was poor and made showering difficult.... More

Stayed one night, has gone down hill a little since last visit 6 years ago. Staff where friendly, room was clean and a good size as was the bathroom. Pub area for breakfast was not very clean as they had not cleared up from night before, they could of at least sweep the floor before breakfast. Thought it was a... More

I booked a room at this Innkeepers Lodge at the last minute as I was working locally the next day. When I arrived the guy (with the beard) at reception could not have been more friendly, he was experiencing problems with the PC (don't we all) but kept chatting and was informative about both the hotel and general area. The... More

Big room with plenty of character, and nicely refurbished bathroom. Plenty of parking, easy to get in and out. The adjoining pub is far enough not to be a problem. Lovely large croissants for breakfast (included, but full english option for just under £7) and large glasses for good orange juice (not the tiny glasses and watered down stuff some... More

After a warm welcome from the bar staff show to our table we then had a long wait for sub standard service from our rude waitress who just looks down her nose at us. Then the food took its time to come out and for a brand to serve tiny portions compared to other sites is ridiculous in my opinion.... More

This hotel is actually just a pub with rooms. The photos don't show that it is right next to a busy road. It's about a 10/15 minute walk into town. The bedroom was pretty basic but ok. We were told the wrong times for breakfast but the staff were so friendly and still made us a cooked breakfast which was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Housed in a beautifully restored 18th century property, this lodge provides some of the most welcoming accommodation in Lichfield. Thanks to its proximity to the M6 Toll, the M42 and the commercial hub of Birmingham, it's a convenient base for business trips.Set in its own grounds, the lodge is dripping with original features and has nine comfy rooms and a large garden. You'll also find a cosy pub offering hearty, seasonally inspired food, a great range of cask ales and a generous serving of rustic charm.Lichfield is a pretty, quintessentially English city that's probably most famous for its fantastic medieval cathedral. Begun in 1195, Lichfield Cathedral has three distinctive spires and two lovely waterside walks. There are plenty of other local attractions, though. For starters, you could learn about the father of the modern dictionary at the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum or take a stroll through the leafy National Memorial Aboretum or Birches Valley Forest Centre. ... more   less
